PS4 has it's own audio hardware as well. XBO's is more powerful but that's because it has the extra factor of Kinect audio (vocal recognition, processing, and echo cancellation take a lot of computational power). People keep bringing up the Shape chip as some huge advantage but it really won't make a difference between the two machines.

The AVP(for Kicect) is just one part of the audio block. There is a lot more in there. The AVP is actually a small part, plus the Kinect has on board silicone as well.
