Killzone: Shadow Fall MP and The Order to be at Gamescom

Chamber

love on your sleeve
Not sure why Gamescom seems so long away. I'm just excited to see up to date builds of these games so we can put some of the negativity behind us.

Anyone else here think that a futuristic city themed map with huge-ass towers and vehicles (especially atac) would be nice?

The world of The Order just seemed so interesting, I'm super excited to see what it's about!

Edit: Hopefully this will also mean a 2014 release date.

What is there to know about this game so far really? I haven't seen anything about the setting or what is even going on yet.

From Housemarque's Facebook

Their only currently announced games are the Stardust successor and some other PS4 game. So we should at least get to see the Stardust game.

Not to put a damper on things, but they're also bringing Dead Nation to Vita as announced at E3. They could just be attending to show off the port. Probably unlikely they'd fly out for that, but just trying to temper the hype a bit, haha.

this times one million

hope GG learned from their mistakes with KZ3

Yes. This a billion times. KZ3 multiplayer felt like Halo (Not a bad thing but if I wanted to play Halo I'd play Halo. I wanted a Killzone game). The weightiness was gone, it was terrible. I also didn't like how you could mix and match class powers. It made the classes seem too generic since it didn't matter too much who you chose.

The Order live gameplay demo, Second Son gameplay with more story powers and foes, PS4 launch date, proper look at new XMB and another surprise game announcement or two and then you got me by the balls.

I did; it didn't reveal that much to me I guess.
Here's what I got out of it:
- Awesome setting, art style
- Great tone, atmosphere, narration
- Likely to have four player co-op

It's not much, but what I saw really impressed me.

Considering how many games SONY still have yet to announce, I except at least 2 to 3 new games.

Definitely intrigued by what I saw; just thought that they revealed more about the world and I missed it.

That wasnt possible in Killzone 3, or how do you mean? In Killzone 3, you couldnt mix stuff from other classes, but you could that in Killzone 2 (like the Sniper could also carry health packs).

I thought it was Killzone 2 that let you mix and match. It was brilliant! Especially because they broke it down into obvious tiered abilities. Your "primary" ability (Non switchable) was almost always infinitely better than your sub ability (switchable).

yep, loved them. pissed they took them away

Yeah :( the whiners ruined it for the lot of us. So many people bitching about the chaos, honestly it was a blast, and anyone with half a sense would go the long way and just blast people being idiotic from a safe distance. Killzone 2's multiplayer was absolutely phenomenal.

About the spawn grenades, that is actually pretty much the only thing that set Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 apart, at least in my opinion. Also the different maps of course. I also hope that they bring back the spawn grenades in Killzone 4 because it made the game (Killzone 2) more strategic. I also hope that they bring the Operation Mode from Killzone 3 into Killzone 4 :)

Yeah the operations mode was sick! I loved being the guy that died in the cutscenes. I really enjoyed 3's multi-player actually, the only thing I hated was that the matchmaking (at least for me) broke 2 months in and seemingly never got fixed. I'd constantly be thrown into operations matches that were 2 vs 8, or even 1 vs 8, and the low player team would never fill for some reason. It was ridiculous :( Same thing was happening in the Warzones as well.

After a while, Operation Mode was basically all i played in Killzone 3 :)

Ah yes, that was also a big difference between Killzone 2 and 3, being able to choose between each server and automatic matchmaking indeed. I was thinking more about the game itself in my previous post. Yeah, the matchmaking in Killzone 3 wasnt always that good, like you said, you could be thrown into uneven matches indeed. I'm a bit unsure what i prefer to be in Killzone 4, being able to decide which server i want to play on or have automatic matchmaking.

I wonder when we're going to get release dates for the PSN indie games revealed at E3. I'm really excited for Transistor and Galak-Z.

want want want want

[Edit : Ah, apparently both are due in 2014. Hopefully early in the year!]

Definitely intrigued by what I saw; just thought that they revealed more about the world and I missed it.
I guess I'm just a sucker for that type of stuff. It's enough to have me excited, heh.

Isn't Gamescm the last major showing before PS4's release, assuming TGS is very much Japan focused?

The software we see at Gamescom is basically going to be what we see at launch, bar a few minor tweaks. The likes of DriveClub really have to blow everyone away, they need to show a much improved build, new locations, night driving, multiplayer, basically everything Evolution have been promising (they do sound confident!).

E3 was exciting, but from Sony's perspective, you have to say they left a lot on the table, essentially re-showing titles from the reveal, content to win E3 with the price/DRM reveal.

As well as showing polished versions of launch titles, together with detailed launch info, I do think it's time for Sony to take the next step and reveal at least some of the bigger titles in the works from the likes of PD, ND and SSM, they can't let MS ride the "we have more exclusives" train for much longer.

The maps just weren't as good in Killzone 3. All I ever played in KZ3 was Salamun Market.

Add me to team spawn grenades.

Make KZSF MP like KZ2 and I might just keep my PS4 preorder. I have zero faith in GG after KZ3, though.

To me, The Order is Son'y s most interesting game. I love the setting. Now I just want to see some gameplay so I can go into full hype mode (provided it looks good of course).

crossing everything i can possibly cross that they learnt from their myriad of errors committed in regards to Killzone 3.

Actually excited for it despite being month 8 instead of day 1.

What are the chances that KZ Shadow Fall has dat weight like in KZ2?

0%. People hoping for a complete KZ2 style multiplayer feel are going to disappointed. Just expect it to be a mash up of KZ2/KZ3 multiplayer. You can deduce some of this from the single player demos. No where near as much recoil as KZ2 (though I'm sure different guns will have different levels of recoil), and enemies go down fairly fast like KZ3. Hopefully they just take the best of both games and combine them.

I'll gladly eat crow if they prove otherwise.

I just want console release dates already. Need to plan my October/November around them.

Is Driveclub seriously being stylized as #Driveclub?

Christ...

There's a GAME store near me that has a big board of upcoming games for next gen platforms, and they've misinterpreted the symbol in the logo and have it listed as Z Driveclub.
