OH. MY. GOD

The last two episodes of season 3.

I need to take some anxiety pills and change my underpants.

That shit was tense. I mean god damn. I don't usually talk to my tv, but I was nearly screaming it at during those two episodes.

I'm exhausted. I don't even think I can start season 4 right now.

Imma have a pop tart and watch Friends

Also, ever notice that the best episodes of Breaking Bad are the ones with hardly any Skyler in them? Coincidence? I think not!

I'm on Episode 5 of season 1 and I've got a couple questions:

1. How long does it take to get to amazing tier?

2. Do I stay away from this thread?

It gets better and better each episode. By season 3 it becomes amazing.

Stay away from this thread.

you're the worst, I vote you hold off on uncreative skyshittalk until you've actually caught up on the show or i'll quote your posts with season 4 and 5 spoilers (allowed, it's the s5 thread, your risk!)

I understand not hating her, but it seems like Sky has a pretty large support group here on GAF.

I don't get it, but different strokes. As much as I don't like her, she makes BB a better show.

Except for that fucking pool incident. God, that was so hamfisted and cheesy that it damn near took me out of the episode.

theres nothing redeemable about her.. she bought walt jr. a purple pt cruiser

stole 600,000k from walt to give to a dude she cheated on him with without even discussing it

To say Cranston's portrayal of Walter White is one of the greatest performances of all time is in no way an original thought, but is there anyone else who could have done the role justice? AMC's original choices were apparently Matthew Broderick and John Cusack. I like Broderick but can't picture him as WW and I won't even dignify Cusack with a response.

Gary Oldman would have made an amazing Walter White--one of the few capable of hitting Cranston's God-tier. I could also see Jeff Bridges and Terry O'Quinn in the role. Maybe even Spacey.

No one can do it like Cranston did it. If there's one thing that's consistent with the greatest shows of all time it's that they always contain perfect casting. Everyone is being played by exactly the right person.

Broderick would have made them stop shooting the pilot.

Almost anybody could play Season 1/2 walter white. By the end of season 3 he'd grown into the part so much that I could never picture anyone else even coming close

Was actually thinking that Oldman would be a good choice earlier. Can't picture anyone else doing it justice though.

Just wait till the last four episodes in S4. In my opinion, some of the most intense moments in TV or film. Edge of your seat!

Obviously WW became Cranston's own beast and this show wouldn't be this show without him, but I could definitely see Oldman in the role.

Different show, but this discussion reminded me of it. The first choice to play Nucky in Boardwalk Empire was Alec Baldwin.

If not then definitely after season 2. Not buying him as a badass. Ferris is a lover not a fighter.

Daniel Day-Lewis, but that would have meant him living as Walter White for 6 years. And he'd probably retire before going back to TV.

That's about the darkest ending I can imagine and I don't think shit will get that far. But I do admit the callback would be pretty damn admirable if it's just Walt in the desert somewhere collecting dust as the credits roll. This would match the Ozymandias footage/tone really well, actually....

If I was writing the final episode I'd have it be a bit like the ending of Death Note, where
Walt is so corrupted that he has given up his loved ones for the sake of his empire, but Hank catches up to him, and the hysterical Walt desperately flees into the desert, but soon runs out of energy, and as he hears the sirens coming, he draws his gun and fires upon himself.
And I'd find some reason for his pants to be off. :p

Definitely. A serious story about a chem teacher turned drug kingpin falls apart without a rare talent at the helm. We're lucky the pieces fell in place as they did.

Didn't know that. BWE is still on my to watch list. Would Baldwin have been an upgrade? I hear a ton of great things about Buscemi. Seems like a lot of notable series have stories like this: Jack in LOST was written for Michael Keaton. Thomas Jane was the first choice to play Donald Draper, which means
the greatest show of all time
almost never existed.

It would have been a bit of a different character with Baldwin I imagine. Buscemi does a great job, but I'm a pretty big Baldwin fan, I think it would've been very interesting to see him play that character.

Season 1 is super short, the last two episodes are stellar and follow through the beginning of Season 2.

I like Season 2 allot.

Yeah, stay away from thread.

yeah forreal on a rewatch i was on her side from the beginning. but then in season 4 her face was killing me.

and plus the writing for her got insufferable from season 3 onward.

The pool scene set up the one of the greatest scenes in the show at the end of the episode. Also it was supposed to be way too dramatic to sell it to hank and marie.

Goddamn. Must be nice to grow up in a family where you actually have the nerve to complain about your parents buying you a car for your birthday.

Yeah it's not like she got him a prius

After Skyler tells Walt that she's waiting for his Cancer to come back I totally thought he'd already killed her in the next scene.

The eerie music, the blood running down his shaved head, the fact he looked so cold and that Skyler was nowhere to be seen had me convinced he'd offed her.

Just a reminder that AMC's Friday night marathon's just started 15 minutes ago. Tonight will run through the end of season 3.

The conversation near the end of "Fly" about Walt's meeting with Jane's father. Jesus H this show.

I think (hope) at some point the idea that TV is a step down from films will hopefully go away. If you are an actor, I would argue a good, well written TV series will give you a better chance at showcasing your acting chops than a film ever could. The added screen time with the character development you can have should be a mouth watering concept for most actors.

I feel like you're the only one here who gets that. I thought the scene was super cringeworthy too until I realized...it was to get Hank and Marie to take Holly and Walt Jr. in.

it's still cringeworthy no matter what

Just rewatched it. I don't understand how anyone can dislike this episode. As theatrical as the show can get, some of its most gripping moments are the quiet character scenes. The "perfect moment" speech....just stunning.

Isn't that somewhat the point? I mean, "hey, pool party!"
