XSEED teasing a new game? [Up: All but confirmed to be Senran Kagura]

Code of Princess, Soul Hackers, Etrian Odyssey IV, Project X-Zone, and now SMT 4 all were successful as retail releases. There's no reason for them to not release Senran Kagura at retail.

This game is a whole different league than those games... it's targeted at that audience AND it has.... extreme... fanservice....

Senran Kagura has barely-covered nudity and lots of clothing damage, but no, none of the girls are second graders, they're all in highschool...

Also, unlike games like those, Senran Kagura has no male love interests; the only male characters are older, and there isn't any romance between them and the girls. In the anime for instance, the only hints of romance were between the girls. And the girls can protect themselves quite well, and are the playable characters too; no "guy rescues girl" stuff in Senran Kagura for sure, games or anime. So yeah, it's got vast amounts of visual fanservice, but in terms of the story and writing, the anime particularly was actually good. It was a fun, cheesy series (power of friendship!). I liked it. I know that the games have lots more fanservice than the anime (lots more), but hopefully they're as good as the anime was...

If XSeed can manage physical Vita releases, I'm sure they could do more physical 3DS games if they cared to push for them though.

If this is it, and it's one of the 3ds games I think I'd bite for..Novelty purposes mostly. Also because what the hell how bold are you Xseed?

All you have to do to get a proper answer is image search "Shinovi Versus" on google.
Oh. I see.
This game is kind of why handhelds exist. To be caught playing this on a console..jeez.

Can Nintendo just not allow something for retail sale? I could see NoA being like "noooope. Keep that on the eshop under the highest parental controls available" SCEA would probably be more ok about it.

So I took a color sample on the far-left of the box XSEED posted, and got the values on the left. I did the same for the lighter parts of Asuka's face, and got the values on the right. I don't want to say confirmed, but Shinovi Versus is looking pretty likely.

I was waiting for someone to do this. lol. Good find.

What? This isn't the 1990's anymore, unless they localize this game and it gets a rating of AO or it offends some sort of religion (See Binding of isaac), there should be no reason why they would be up in arms about it.

The Big hurdle is (as already discussed in this thread) the stores who stock the item. If they went the way of retail, I can see them strictly going with a gamestop only deal or an online only kind of thing.

I admittedly wonder if most of their sales would be from GameStop or online anyway, but maybe even GameStop's lukewarm here. Maybe the'll surprise people?

True. Even Gamestop probably wouldn't want to waste too much shelf space here. Online only seems more likely. It is sort of difficult to imagine because M for violence =/= M for sex. I don't really think there are any localized handheld games to compare?

Quick (MS Paint-assisted) comparison.

Sample comes from here. From the girl on the bottom-left's face (of all places).

Granted, it could be anything, but.... it looks quite similar.

It's not a perfect fit (it's hard for me to see), but I laid the second image over the boxart for Shinovi Versus. They both have the tweeted image, just one has a border so you know where to look:

I'd say Code of Princess compares, although the characters aren't quite as underage looking

Nintendo doesn't censor 3rd party. See MadWorld, OnechanBara, No More Hereoes and Ojou Sentai Clean Keeper for a few examples. Sony Japan actually required the PS2 version of the latter to be censored. The Wii version was the lewdest.

Whoa. If it is the Vita game and they give it a physical release, I'll import it all over again! If it's the 3DS game then *shrugs*, dat shitty region lock, still wouldn't be able to play it.

The Vita game is the optimal choice. Besides the fact that the lack of region lock always makes things simpler, Shinovi Versus has the most pure Senran-Kagura-related content (all the girls, all the story), and it is the nicest looking game, as well as the game with the best gameplay. If the creator, and the company that makes the game, as well as XSEED, wanted to put their best foot forward, the Vita version is a no-brainer. Yes, it is true that quite a few people have already imported, but plenty of them will double-dip, and the Vita needs gaems mang.

+1 for Shinovi Versus.

The bad part about it not being a boob but her cheek is that I can't even delude myself that this is all an elaborate plot by XSEED to announce both Senran Kagura and TitS FC on Steam at the same time, killing two birds with one stone!

Both 3DS and Vita versions are fun game for what they are (2D and 3D beat'em up), if you are into that genre of course..

As for story, it's done by a guy who did 999, 428, Imabkiso, AA vs Layton and such, so he does have reputation. That said, because a story does actually exist it may turn off some people.
(I won't give out spoiler here but overall story isn't as cheerful as some of you may expect).
