Following the release date announcement for Mario & Sonic Sochi 2014 they will reveal that Mario and Sonic will not only go head-to-head in the Olympic Winter Games, but also on the Virtual Console - in their own separate games. Super Mario 64 and Sonic Adventure will be the first games from Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast to join the Wii U Virtual Console in a "buy 1, get 50% off the 2nd" deal.

I'd be pretty satisfied with that.

I also remember though the May Direct was only supposed to be summer titles and we got Sonic Lost World out of that so I wouldn't be shocked at another big announcement to really get people excited.

Well then they would of said announce some WiiU games or showcase wiiU software etc....they don't have to reveal what the games are. The fact it says update already killed any expectation of new games for me.

Since the Japanese release date for Wind Waker HD was just revealed recently, I'm thinking we'll get a U.S. date during this ND. Also, if there really is going to be a harder difficulty level, this is when they'll tell us.

There'll be lots of Wonderful 101 stuff too, probably.

Game Boy Advance support for the Wii U Virtual Console will also be kicked off, and its first game will be a digital-only, Western release of Mother 3.

One of those things is not going to happen, and it ain't the top two. :(

I'm hoping games that matter show up not some retarded "We think its cool" game idea they came up with geared towards everyone that isn't watching the Direct.

It really would be nice just to get a few details on how the account system coming to 3DS is going to function as well as a preview of MiiVerse. Also interested in some details on the Youtube and Hulu apps.

Looks like Nintendo just enabled the Streetpass "hopping" feature at Nintendo Zones for the 3DS. I wonder if they'll talk about that in the direct?

The very nature of NDs leaves very little for media outlets to hype. It's much different when you have a big announcement and invite the press. The "big stage"(internet) is much more abuzz, with every outlet and blogger trying to weigh in on the story. I've been observing this difference since the 'big' January Wii U direct. So I'll have to agree with Nibel.

Don't worry, we'll get that and an announcement of Pikmin 3 dlc with Iwata saying "sorry" and "please wait".

My man! Art Academy is surprisingly the first "Non game" I've ever been interested in. If it actually teaches you how to draw and you get to showcase your art on the TV and post it to Miiverse or to the internet, I can see it as a way of keeping the Wii U from being unused. If they were to allow you to post your art to social websites with something like "I learned to draw this with Art Academy U on Wii U" that would be a way to get some exposure for the Wii U out there.

Every main Direct in 2013 has had at least one announcement so it's not too farfetched to think this one will, even if it's not a game. If I had to guess, we'll be seeing the following:

-Price drop
-GBA/N64 VC
-Huge focus on TW101
-Release dates for all their 2013 games (Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, Wii Party/Fit U)
-Art Academy U
-Recap on StreetPass Relay and Black 3DS XL
-
Mother 3

Maybe another surprise or two, but that's it. I think summer update info won't come till next month, since the update is scheduled for late September. And all the major announcements will be next month too (games, Smash reveals, etc)

We need a Smash Character Reveal, and an awesome one at that because olimar was a given.

I want to hear about an account system, I want one store with everything on it, similar to PSN.

Also I would love to hear they are ending region locking for 3DS + Wii U... specially with the whole Gateway 3DS being released... I think nintendo should really end that asap.

Art Academy will definitely be talked about. It's suppose to launch later this month. I hope there is a surprise or two but I'm not hopeful.

Iwata said(about a month ago) theyll be unveiling Zelda U in the not-so-distant-future. Its not unreasonable to think it will be revealed this year in a direct.

Last time i heard "not-so-distant-future" from nintendo was for revealing retros game. It was then shown a couple months later.

If the 3DS Art Academy is anything to go by, yes, it teaches you how to draw. It is a pretty nice piece of software. I can see Art Academy selling a few Wii Us, specially with the Miiverse integration.

When he meant not-so-distant-future he meant its going to air during the Mystery science theater 3000 reunion telethon show.

Well Iwata did say they had more unnanounced stuff fir the year. It could be their F2P games or more info on 3DS Miiverse and the Wii U update. I'm not getting my hopes too high, but those are reasonable expectations.

All I want out of this direct is more on DKC TF, Rune Factory 4, Senran Kagura Burst (just announced by Xseed), and maybe some new features for Pokemon. Any more and I'll be a happy gamer.

Edit: I also want Rodea The Sky Soldier

I wouldn't expect a Zelda Wii U reveal until after Wind Waker HD. Also, we might get some new Pokemon information in this ND, though.
