This is how I feel after having two copies of the game, one sealed.
Well, it's not difficult to do better than Xenoblade when the game was released at one retailer, after the Wii was basically dead, and with absolutely no promotion outside of the Operation Rainfall hoopla.
hmmm... this is a slippery slope.
Is it AS GREAT as Chrono Trigger? Probably depends on who you are talking to.
Is it among THE BEST of RPGs released during its generation (like Chrono Trigger)? I would say by most accounts almost definitely.
VGA is a website you can get sealed games graded. The pack I sent in was named Uncirculated because they were in a sealed cases straight from the factory. The higher the grade the higher they will resale for, I sent in 4 to get graded and plan to keep the highest graded copy and part ways with the other three copies.
Crap, a Gamestop has a copy about 50 miles from me. It's not worth the trip and $90, right guys?
... Right?
Chrono Trigger had to compete with FF4-5-6, Earthbound, SoM, Super Mario RPG, Lufia II, Shadowrun, etcetcetc
Xenoblade had to compete with Final Fantasy XIII TRILOGY, Tales of (crap), Star Ocean 4, Resonance of Fate (the one thing that is not like the others) and any other of the "traditional" jRPGS from this gen that I don't remember/care to mention.
SNES gen was just too nice to us jRPG fans, no doubt the best imo.

The Wii U does a good job of upscaling Wii games to whatever resolution your TV is set at, but that obviously doesn't help anyone without a Wii U.

That really didn't help, no. They launched earlier in Europe though, where it didn't fare all that well either, nor did any of their other games on PS2 or GC for that matter. as far as I know at least.
Would marketing remedy that? No idea, but they deserve to be doing a lot better, that's for sure.
lol perfect. In reality the game is awesome but nowhere near the asking price. Ninty should put it on Wiiu as a digital dl.This is how I feel after having two copies of the game, one sealed.
So all this hype about grading is not actually to preserve the games, but raising the price looking to resale it to a collector? Ive seen the prices of graded games, some go for thousands of dollars, only a fool would pay that much and most of these sellers know they will not be able to sell it for that price. The price for grading games the VG ''Authority'' asks for alone is as much as some rare sealed games, ridicilous.
If I can get a sealed copy of a game, thats great, but I will never pay a cent to have it put in an overpriced plastic case by a 3rd party. Good that grading is not a thing here in Europe.

It's $200 - $300 on amazon.ca. I'm going to be holding on to this baby for a long time. Might have to new game + at some point just to experience the post game stuff.
Got one 101$ with shipping and tax
Exciting as ive never played it either
Edit:
More exciting, they are used 130 and up on amazon. Without shipping.
Chrono Trigger didn't have to "compete" with any of those games. They didn't come out on the same day. If anything, it was greatly helped out by those games - as they established an audience for JRPGS on the SNES and created a great deal of good will towards Squaresoft.
I also think you're maybe underrating the recent Ys games, Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey and stuff like Ni No Kuno. No doubt the genre has become more niche and the "titans" are struggling, but there is good stuff here. None better than Xenoblade.
Doesn't matter. You won't find it anywhere.
Hey, I forgot to mention you can get a discount if you use code aug15. Brings the total down to $76 with free shipping. You'll get a bit extra off of that if you have PowerUp Rewards Pro.
So cancel and order again, haha.
The hell is VGA and what does graded do?
Cancelled my order to do the promotion and now it keeps saying that there was a problem processing my order and i cant get one
I shouldn't have cancelled my order ;_;
Did you try removing the code? Maybe the code is causing the problem?
Just did, no dice.
I cant get to the payment options.
I was getting there a moment ago but it kept saying my billing information didnt match my card. Then it just didnt work.
This reminds me that I need to actually finish the game. I quit about 5 hours in for some reason and never went back.
Hell, I need to get The Last Story too. How much is that one?
TLS saw about the same number of copies printed just with a wider distribution and will never be as rare simply because it is nowhere near as hyped.
Metroid Prime Trilogy is going to be one of the few console games from the Wii (hell the entire PS360 Wii gen) that'll even come close to Xenoblade in value. Super Mario Collection has been going back to earth.
I'm sure XB will be reprinted/made digital in the next few years though.
