I heavily regret trading my copy of xenoblade to my cousin for a $100 gas card and a $25 gift card to American Apparel ;__;

I have my US copy still sealed because I bought the PAL version first. Not sure if I'll sell it down the road or what.

Well, it's not difficult to do better than Xenoblade when the game was released at one retailer, after the Wii was basically dead, and with absolutely no promotion outside of the Operation Rainfall hoopla.

That really didn't help, no. They launched earlier in Europe though, where it didn't fare all that well either, nor did any of their other games on PS2 or GC for that matter. as far as I know at least.

Would marketing remedy that? No idea, but they deserve to be doing a lot better, that's for sure.

I sold a sealed copy for $144.99 + $20 shipping. With ebay fees I only made $130. I was stupid for selling it for so low.

hmmm... this is a slippery slope.

Is it AS GREAT as Chrono Trigger? Probably depends on who you are talking to.

Is it among THE BEST of RPGs released during its generation (like Chrono Trigger)? I would say by most accounts almost definitely.

Chrono Trigger had to compete with FF4-5-6, Earthbound, SoM, Super Mario RPG, Lufia II, Shadowrun, etcetcetc

Xenoblade had to compete with Final Fantasy XIII TRILOGY, Tales of (crap), Star Ocean 4, Resonance of Fate (the one thing that is not like the others) and any other of the "traditional" jRPGS from this gen that I don't remember/care to mention.

SNES gen was just too nice to us jRPG fans, no doubt the best imo.

VGA is a website you can get sealed games graded. The pack I sent in was named Uncirculated because they were in a sealed cases straight from the factory. The higher the grade the higher they will resale for, I sent in 4 to get graded and plan to keep the highest graded copy and part ways with the other three copies.

lol video games have gone full retard.

Crap, a Gamestop has a copy about 50 miles from me. It's not worth the trip and $90, right guys?

... Right?

depends, do you actually want the game or are you just getting it due to a compulsive need to accumulate "valuable" video games?

You know you're ignoring dozens of high quality RPGs that came out last gen on handhelds right

it's sad how little NoA cares about growing an audience for these games.

The Wii U does a good job of upscaling Wii games to whatever resolution your TV is set at, but that obviously doesn't help anyone without a Wii U.

I have a Wii U but I modded my Wii and imported Xenoblade (PAL) to play it, thinking it was never going to come out in the US, then I just never bought the NTSC version because it didn't make sense to have 2 copies of basically the same thing.

... Right?

I drove 50 miles to a Gamestop last month to get it. It was priced at $75 then but I'd still have done it for $90.

Edit: I called ahead and had it reserved, make sure you do that.
Also don't forget Power-Up Rewards discount 10%. It's really only gonna cost you $81 or so plus gas and tax.

I bought one at launch, with a gift card so I think I spent 20 dollars. The only use its seen is me messing around on dolphin. Only played through the first 15 minutes. . I like having rare things but I also like money...

So all this hype about grading is not actually to preserve the games, but raising the price looking to resale it to a collector? Ive seen the prices of graded games, some go for thousands of dollars, only a fool would pay that much and most of these sellers know they will not be able to sell it for that price. The price for grading games the VG ''Authority'' asks for alone is as much as some rare sealed games, ridicilous.

If I can get a sealed copy of a game, thats great, but I will never pay a cent to have it put in an overpriced plastic case by a 3rd party. Good that grading is not a thing here in Europe.

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Baten Kaitos and Xenosaga were both too alienating to really find a bigger audience. Xenoblade was their chance, I feel like. It's the most accessible, and easily the most impressive of Monolithsoft's RPGs. So this, more than any other, would've benefited from proper promotion.

Especially since Nintendo has X on the way... you'd think they'd want that game to actually... y'know, register with people.

This makes me sick. I'll never be able to play this game at these rates... :(

I'll just go play my Xenosaga series and dot hack series games. I'll feel better after that.

Grading raises the value of everything else, since morons see a graded sealed game for $5000 and think they can get it too. Grading is a giant scam and I'd like to punch anyone in the face that does it.

The best way to accurately judge a game's worth is completed ebay auctions, not buy it now listings or Amazon sellers.

It's $200 - $300 on amazon.ca. I'm going to be holding on to this baby for a long time. Might have to new game + at some point just to experience the post game stuff.

Chrono Trigger didn't have to "compete" with any of those games. They didn't come out on the same day. If anything, it was greatly helped out by those games - as they established an audience for JRPGS on the SNES and created a great deal of good will towards Squaresoft.

I also think you're maybe underrating the recent Ys games, Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey and stuff like Ni No Kuno. No doubt the genre has become more niche and the "titans" are struggling, but there is good stuff here. None better than Xenoblade.

So glad I got mine for $50 last year (free with giftcards from doing surveys). I was expecting a great game but I got something seriously unforgettable. I don't care how much it's worth, there's no way I'm ever selling mine. Same reason I still have Earthbound and FFVI, etc.

You're better off continuing from the point of no return. They kind of broke NG+ because you have to beat almost the entire game again (up to
Bionis Interior
) before the actual NG+ stuff even opens up. And because you'll be so overpowered and the story won't be fresh it's just not very interesting.

That's one thing I really hope they fix with X. I'd like NG+ to offer me something new or more challenging, not just do the same stuff at stupidly high levels so you can sleep through the game.

Just import the PAL version if you want to play it (as opposed to adding it to your exquisite collection), it's no big deal.

Hey, I forgot to mention you can get a discount if you use code aug15. Brings the total down to $76 with free shipping. You'll get a bit extra off of that if you have PowerUp Rewards Pro.

So cancel and order again, haha.

Ys are good, but they're more action than anything. The rest of those, MEH. The guy I quoted said "Xenoblade is one of the best of it's era like CT was one of the best of it's" and that's why I was comparing the gens, but honestly it's just not fair. When you have to scrape out shit from the damn Tales series to put in a list of good jRPGs, I'm out. Xenoblade only seems to be sogood because we were all so starved for just one good jRPG this gen, it's not even as good as FF12.

I bought the game from a dude on craigslist a few weeks ago, the guy sold it to me for 20$ since it didn't have the case! He was saying no one would buy it without the case on ebay which surprises me, i mean the game is the most important part. I bet gamestop would give me 25$ for it trade in, LOL! Now to try to get the manual and case, maybe i should just kinkos the case.

The hell is VGA and what does graded do?

It's a rip off. Supposed to be a legitimate way of telling the "grade" of a game if you're a serious collector. You pay them an exorbitant amount of money to stick your game in a plastic case and slap a sticker on it.

I shouldn't have cancelled my order ;_;

Did you try removing the code? Maybe the code is causing the problem?

Edit for below post: Same exact thing for me. First it said the payment info did not match the financial institution so I tried a different card. That didn't work either. Now it won't go past the shipping.

Just did, no dice.

I cant get to the payment options.

I was getting there a moment ago but it kept saying my billing information didnt match my card. Then it just didnt work.

I signed up for gamefly for the sole purpose of having the option to keep this game. Payed maybe 65-70 and had a free trial so none extra was payed. :D
Biggest mistake was not getting it at release in the first place smh

Weird, I'm able to get through the checkout process without any problems. I didn't actually try to submit the order, though, because I already have the game. Maybe you could try a different browser? I don't know what the problem could be.

edit: Also try logging out of the website and logging back in

Goddamit i cant believe this. Shoulda just stuck with the one i had.

Edit:

Edit:

This reminds me that I need to actually finish the game. I quit about 5 hours in for some reason and never went back.

Hell, I need to get The Last Story too. How much is that one?

TLS saw about the same number of copies printed just with a wider distribution and will never be as rare simply because it is nowhere near as hyped.

Metroid Prime Trilogy is going to be one of the few console games from the Wii (hell the entire PS360 Wii gen) that'll even come close to Xenoblade in value. Super Mario Collection has been going back to earth.

I'm sure XB will be reprinted/made digital in the next few years though.

Only thing I can say so far: No fucking regrets.

I bought it twice and it was the first time I did that. At this rate I'll clear the payments on my condo with that shit in 10 years, haha!

Xseed already reprinted the last story and dropped the price, as it now comes without the fancy book case. I imagine they'd do the same with pandoras tower if they had to.

Is this out of print in Europe too? Shame. Oh well, if Nintendo of America wants to be stuck in their archaic ways, be my guest. No wonder the entire company is floundering when they make short-sighted decisions at such a frenetic pace.

Time to sell mine. I doubt I'll replay it any time soon (if ever). Hopefully there'll be an hd port or a digital release down the road.
