Am I the only one who was satisfied with the direct? Or is Shibata just that more awesome?

- Wind Waker release date is early October, fuck yeah
- Layton vs AA
- Shibata cosplaying Phoenix Wright
- Animal Crossing Plaza looks sweet
- Animal Crossing promotion. This is great!

I guess it helps not to hype too much :D.

Nope. The second half was worth it. W101 Direct Friday!!! Woot.

If you mean excite by showing new games, of course, this was supposed to only contain updates on already announced games.

They don't even have to *show* any new games, just announce them. Don't you think people would get excited if a new 2D Metroid was announced, even if there weren't pictures or even a title to go with it?
When Nintendo failed to drop bombs at E3 everyone said "well, they don't drop bombs at E3 anymore, they save them for Direct". So why are people so underwhelmed?

Soooo... Europe reiterated EO4 and Soul Hackers release dates but didn't mention SMTIV, I guess we are not getting it this year then...

While I agree that this ND was unnecessary (and it's not the first one), they made it pretty clear the focus would be on 2013 games, and we still got PLxAA, so I would say stop bitching.

foxuzamaki

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
oh shit its that chick from smash that appeared in a game idk about, nintendo loves their furry audience

lol, some of you were hyping this one too much.
I wasn't hyping shit, I would have been fine with one new Wii U VC game. They're such failures they can't even do that. This thing is gonna be a year old and we have NES and SNES still.... No words for the incompetence.

This happens every single time. Meltdowns that could've been avoided by not expecting megatons.
Exactly. People should understand, that NIntendo uses the Directs to manly advertise close release of games or updates. They only sometimes have really new information and showing Luigi made a lot of sense, since it is still "The year of Luigi".

Fair, but we shouldn't be expecting a megaton announcement that is ALSO releasing before the end of 2013. Majority of Wii U stuff is already announced for 2014 and the 3DS is fairly packed leading up to the end of the year.

I'm still pissed we haven't heard a thing about DQX though...

It met my expectations, and exceeded them in two regards (AA vs PW out of nowhere, and the genuinely impressive line up of indie titles for Wii U)

Edit: Oh, and the Korg, which means nothing to me, but I know some people who were nuts about the DS one.

GAF ND Cycle never fails. Never.

It was a decent ND with a nice surprise (PLvsAA) but I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of Bravely Default and Shin Megami Tensei IV. The wait is getting more and more painful.

Guys, you really have to manage your expectations with these things. I thought that was a fine Direct. More info on stuff we already knew about, plus a small reveal or two.

Not to mention the fact that NA is actually getting Layton vs. AA!

Seriously. The Nintendo Direct was good. It clarified a number of things. There were a few surprises for both the 3DS and Wii U.

Guess what people. You don't have to watch the things either. You can wait and read up on the announcements. Perhaps that might be better for some people as they can't seem to keep their emotions and expectations in check while watching these Directs live even after they clearly state before they air what they're going to be about.

Really nice indie reel, so cool to see Nihilumbra there. At this rate its probably going to get on the eshop before it gets through greenlight.

Also, it was nice to see an rts on Wii U. Always thought the gamepad would be good for that kind of game.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
I just watched the European ND - is NA getting all those Indies? There was like over 20 new games!

Shibata specifically mentioned They were made by Europeans and Australians", so that's why they were probably featured in the EU Direct

I can't believe there's people that take an underwhelming ND so harshly. There's been disappointing ones in the past, there's been exciting ones, and there will continue to be. It is the way of Nintendo Directs.

Well there was Super Mario Bros. 3 I guess.

you know how like a year ago or so, some people on these boards began figuring out that there's only so many teams at nintendo and months in a release schedule and that they must obey physical laws like all other companies

Nintendo announces direct to talk about the games coming out soon. Then in the direct talks about the games coming out soon, announces the return of Luigi in smash and there's an announcement for a much requested japanese game (Wright VS Layton), which is finally being localized for the west.

People is disappointed, Nintendo is doomed, Ridley is too big for smash.

I don't understand you guys. At all.

It's amazing how many people are incapable of reading the announcement description. Nintendo makes usually pretty clear what you can expect out of a certain Direct. This is no exception, even if the Wii U got very little screen time.

The next time we'll see a big Nintendo blowout will be, like every year, either in September or October.
