Nintendo Direct WiiU/3DS @ 8/7 - NA: 7am PT, EU: 4pm CEST

They don't even have to *show* any new games, just announce them. Don't you think people would get excited if a new 2D Metroid was announced, even if there weren't pictures or even a title to go with it?
When Nintendo failed to drop bombs at E3 everyone said "well, they don't drop bombs at E3 anymore, they save them for Direct". So why are people so underwhelmed?

Announcing them is not that different from showing them. It's in the OP. The Direct is going to be about updates for games already announced.

Oh, Band Bros./Jam with the Band... The first real game to make me sad about region locking. :(

Well they brought the 2nd one to Europe, so maybe they'll bring this one here?

I would be really surprised if it was coming over. It was a HUGE flop. You were able to get copies for less than €10 a week or two after launch and it's a game you can still find for €3 or less nowadays.

Nintendo announces direct to talk about the games coming out soon. Then in the direct talks about the games coming out soon, announces the return of Luigi in smash and there's an announcement for a much requested japanese game (Wright VS Layton), which is finally being localized for the west.

People is disappointed, Nintendo is doomed, Ridley is too big for smash.

I don't understand you guys. At all.

AC:NL is for the 3DS, AC plaza for Wii U...

What kind of fucked up logic is this?

They obviously want to ride the current popularity of AC:NL and get some more people to buy a few Wii Us. Makes a lot of sense. They also build a install base for the next Animal Crossing on the Wii U in the process.

I wasn't hyping shit, I would have been fine with one new Wii U VC game. They're such failures they can't even do that. This thing is gonna be a year old and we have NES and SNES still.... No words for the incompetence.

We're getting Mario and Luigi costumes in Rayman Legends. Stop trolling and having unrealistic expectations.

Am I the only one who was satisfied with the direct? Or is Shibata just that more awesome?

- Wind Waker release date is early October, fuck yeah
- Layton vs AA
- Shibata cosplaying Phoenix Wright
- Animal Crossing Plaza looks sweet
- Animal Crossing promotion. This is great!

I guess it helps not to hype too much :D.

The Direct felt a lot more 3DS oriented compared to the previous ones we got, and in those terms I felt it really provided. I think expecting any massive news for the Wii U this short after E3 was a bit of a lost cause any case. Acting as if this is the nail in the coffin is pretty laughable.

The US Direct sounded incredibly bad but the EU one was great. Shibata is an awesome spokesperson.

I think we are for the most part.

I'm guessing many of them were games from the indie reel back at E3.
Only Tengami, Giana Sisters and Scram Kitty. Most games were new announcements as far as I could tell.

EDIT: After reading the list, seems about half the games were new: Cubemen 2, Forced, Knytt Underground, March of War, Monkey Pirates, Nihilumbra, Pure Chess, So Hungry, TNT Racers and Wooden Sen'Sey.

EU stream HAULED, got to the good stuff quick. NOA stream was awful, no release dates either unlike EU. I'm a fan of Shibata now

Satisfying mid-sized Direct IMO

Looks like they might have axed the Triforce Charts for WW judging by the REALLY short clip they showed of him pulling out a shard out of a treasure chest.

Remember, in the original, all the shards had to be picked up in the ocean. I bet now they've simplified it to the point where the shards are in the chests that originally contained the Triforce shards.

Way less tedious all around. Less time spent out in the ocean, more spent on islands.

Also surprised they didn't get an exact release date for WW still... while Japan got one for September 26th...

Everyone stop goddamn whining and start hyping the Friday direct. The only thing that can help with hype withdrawal and the hype train crash is more hype. I for one am CONVINCED we'll see megaton after megaton after megaton on Friday.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
I still expect another Direct or presentation next month before TGS, but just the whole presentation for NOA just seemed to not make sense. No indie sizzle reel, no showcase of Splinter Cell or other 3rd party games coming out soon, and not even a Wind Waker date.

I'm assuming the people not aroused by the PL vs AA confirmation have never played either game tbh

Is there a convenient summary of the EU Nintendo Direct somewhere? Particularly any 3DS related stuff as I don't own a Wii/Wii U.

I think the Animal Crossing thing on Wii U looks good, but I can't but help feel they're missing the point since the game isn't on Wii U, and this kind of thing would be better if they just added Miiverse to 3DS. I actually own both a 3DS and a Wii U but I'd rather have a game for my 3DS get more features on the system it's on.

I was really hoping that when they said Mario 3 was on both system's Virtual Consoles that they'd announce some sort of cross-buy thing.

I was hoping for some 3DS update when they started talking about Animal Crossing. Nope, everything for WiiU.

There's the Wii U Eshop games announced for EU

Cubemen 2
Festival of Magic
Forced
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
Ittle Dew
Knytt Underground
March of War
Monkey Pirates
Nihilumbra
Pure Chess
Q.U.B.E. Director's Cut
Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails
So Hungry
Squids Deluxe
Tengami
Teslagrad
TNT Racers
Wooden Sen'Sey

Didn't we know about most of these already? Or is the news the fact they're coming to Europe?

I think the PC version has a better chance ...
I'm trying to fight that realization. I wanted my off-screen play...

Though I'm hoping they even just do a digital download version, if they don't think it's worth bringing over in a physical format. With the PC version announced, it's pretty evident that SE is doing the localization. Just need Nintendo to play ball.
