I lost 100 pounds using the Wii-Fit.

Did you do other stuff like diet &/or other exercise in combination with Wii Fit?

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind trying Wii Fit, considering last year in March or April, I decided to finally go on a diet/exercise & went from 268 to 207 in about 6 months. I really need to find something to motivate me to get serious again (I've stayed at 207 for almost a year now), though I think that might be better suited for Off-Topic.

Yes sir,

I changed my diet considerably.

I used to eat around 6000+ calories a day, I eat about 2000 now.

I started slowly, went from 6000 to 5000, etc.

i dont wanna rain on your parade, but you lost that weight because you diet and do exercise, wiift its a miniscule part of that

exercise, diet and a lot of constant work..thats the thing, wiift doesnt save your life...your change of lifestyle was the key

And Wii Fit is good at holding you accountable for those things.

Congrats! That's really great to hear.

Are you female? That's an impressive weight loss either way but I'd imagine if you were a guy people would say you looked like you were wasting away! Great that people have used Wii Fit with such success though -- I always thought it was a very good game but never stuck with it personally.

Nope. 5' 4'' asian male. I was 190 with a double chin and all that. Lost it all by changing my diet. (fish, white chicken, veggies and water) over fast food hamburgers etc.

Congrats OP, just remember that it is easy to gain that weight back. So just stay healthy, you already did one of the hardest parts on getting into a healthy life style.

Congrats. I had a friend who lost like 50 or so pounds playing DDR back when it was all the rage. Never worked for me, though -_-

Doesn't Wii Fit set goals, an extremely key part of any weight loss regimen?

I think it was a combination of the three.

The hardest part was not the exercise or even the diet, it's the mental strain of motivation of changing my ways.

Keep it up dude. You should keep a record of how your doing, maybe in a blog or youtube channel. It would probably inspire a lot of people.

Regardless of what method you used, and speaking as a former obese person, I just want to congratulate you on losing that much weight. However I'd still want to figure out how much impact Wii Fit had on your entire routine, mostly because losing that much requires much more than what Wii Fit brings, such as eating habits for instance. The tracking part of Wii Fit though is the most alluring part of the package imo.

In the end though, I'd give your perseverance and willpower more credit!

Its funny to me, when I was playing football I would try to maintain a 5000-6000 calorie diet to stay at around 280 pounds.

That's awesome! Wii Fit helped me get from ~210 to about ~170 where I've been hovering for the past few years. It wasn't even so much the exercises as it was my constant desire to see my weight decrease just a little bit less every day on the long-term graph (and not having the virtual Balance Board be disappointed in me). I began altering my eating habits and doing little things like taking the stairs. I didn't outwardly notice the weight loss myself until my family and friends started complimenting me on the change.

Did you have a similar experience or were you more gung-ho about the actual activities?

Congrats, OP. I used EA Fit for a little while, so I know how challenging it can be to stay dedicated to these sort of progams. I'm ultimately more successful outside the living room, though, as I just become distracted by other games lol.

Congrats, that's pretty cool. I know some people like to make fun of Wii Fit, but it's awesome when the game actually produces results for people.

I know this is a thread which I will probably get laughed at, or be called a fatty. But I was over 336 pounds, I had huge medical problems with acid reflux, and heart burn.

I tried multiple diets and none seem to work.

I went to my friends house one day and noticed she was using a wii-fit, I laughed it off saying it's dumb of course, but she told me to give a try (i assumed i would snap the thing in half).

Crazy part is?, It maybe saved my life. I lost a total of roughly 90/100ish pounds using it, mostly from the addicting mini games it had.

i weight about 240ish now, and most of my medical problems are behind me, except a screwed up back from gaming to much. lol

I really hope the WII-U comes out with something similar, because it was a fantastic product, and deserves a little bit of praise.

No one is going to laugh at you for losing 100 pounds. That is amazing!

Yeah, it's just that motivation to start & keeping at it, especially when you hit that wall & you don't lose any weight for a bit. Even worse is that period where your body hurts from your change in diet and it's not getting the food/amount it's used to. I can't remember exactly what caused me to finally taking dieting seriously after the numerous times my parents told me, but once I lost that first 15 pounds in a month, I was able to keep at it & now I'm MUCH more aware of how much I eat & try to exercise at least every other day.

Congrats. That's a huge change to deal with and to stick by it shows dedication. And it's always great to hear it was a video game that helped someone get healthier instead of the tired stereotype of making you fat/lazy/unhealthy, etc.

Congrats.

I lost 100 pounds myself but had to do it the old fashioned way of diet and exercise. Should have put a Wii Fit in there.

For reals, man. That takes some serious work. You should be proud, and you wont find anyone here not happy to know you worked your ass off for it.

Much respect, man. Keep at it!

If I could make a couple suggestions for people who are trying to gain or lose weight.

Lentils.
Seriously these are the gift to anyone trying to put on muscle. Low carb, super high protein. I drop them in my salads and I think they are delicious.

Calories.
Even if you are trying to lose weight, you still need to monitor your calories to make sure you are taking in enough.
If you don't eat enough calories your body goes into shutdown mode where it actually converses your fat stores.
Its all evolution, think of a harsh winter a few thousand years ago and a lack of food. Your body is going to do what it needs to do to survive.

Congrats.

A Wii Fit is exercise, there is no way to classify it as anything else.

And I can guarantee he was dieting as well, no way he lost that much weight without doing both at once.

OP that's fantastic! Though WiiFit probably wasn't the primary driver (that would be the change in your diet) it was your accountability mechanism and that is super important.

I've been on a remarkably similar journey as you, though I didn't use the WiiFit. January 1st I weighed 336, this morning (I use Monday weigh-ins for my accountability) I was 249, so happy to break 250. Almost entirely due to diet changes (though I now always take the stairs and try and walk lots of places). Like you I had bad acid reflux and heart burn, as well as bad sleep apnea and my hands and feet would even get numb -- even while holding a fork and eating. That has all gone away. I can't believe how much better I feel.

I think my problem with Wii Fit would be I'd get bored of the minigames and 'real' games would just be a few clicks away. And I don't really have room to set it up, although when I move again maybe I'll think about picking up Wii Fit U. I think the goals and such would actually help a lot...is U going to have any kind of online functionality?

Most people just lost a hundred bucks. Congrats

Sad but true. My sisters and parents all have the original one and it's been sitting in their respective closets for years now. I could probably swipe a balance board and they'd never notice.
