Sony's silence tells me ads.
it reminds me of the current psn with the way it stutters every time you click on something.
Sony's silence tells me ads.
Sony's silence tells me ads.
Just like how Sony's silence told everyone they'd block used games also?
Completely comparable!
this is what happens when ps4 has no ram.
I really hope it's a Steam style list with all owned games, not just installed. My number 1 hope for the UI.I like it, wish they would do a official UI walkthrough video though. I just want to see how it'll handle multiple games saved in the HDD cause afaict it just dumps everything into that horizontal bar.
I like minimalist, but that looks sort of boring.
Yeah it was posted, but it was buried in the old UI thread.

Looks confusing and less streamlined than Xbox 360.
Looks so clean. I am liking it so far.
Yeah, because the XB1 probably will have ads, so will Sony! Just like they put sharing videos behind the paywall, right?!
Oh wait.I know you're kidding too.
Good point, the download list is a steaming pile of bull that I hope isn't repeated next gen. I just hope they have a grid view or folders for the library cause horizontal scrolling will get annoying once you have 15+ tiles on that bar.I really hope it's a Steam style list with all owned games, not just installed. How is it confusing? Seems simple to me.
I'm still concerned with the fact that there doesn't seem to be any sort of filtering for all of your games. They just get tossed in the horizontal bar near the top. To the left of Blacklight you have the Store, then Blacklight, then the streaming application I'd assume, Web Browser, then maybe downloads(?). I hope in the final OS there's a way to sort that list, or jump to games by letter, pin them to the front, etc. Considering I'm going digital only, that list for me will be huge. It would be lazy of them to leave it like that, with no option to search or sort.
Also, this video might give us info about the actual usable storage. In the top left it tells you that there is a maximum of 420 GB available (makes sense because lovely people who make hard drives decide to define GB as 1,000 MB instead of the technically accurate 1,024 MB which is actually called a GiB, so even though you have a 500GB HDD, you can only use 420 of it). From that, the OS and its apps, including Blacklight bring you to 383. So, 37 GB total right now in use. Obviously that will change since this is debug code which is larger, and the OS isn't finished and is likely missing some of its apps which aren't needed for development (video player, etc), but it still gives us a good idea.

I'm amazed that people are putting so much stock into this short blip. Are dev consoles being used for launch titles really at all indicative of what UI will be like? I'd be surprised if there's much similarity beyond font, color, or basic visual design.
ps3 xmb was the same before and after it launched.
Yea i am curious how they handle the game library. Right now i am assuming you scroll but we will see.
Scroll?

Looks too blue.
Don't like that the square for the game he's playing is blank instead of displaying a picture of the game or something.
And along the top, it just says "FirstName LastName" instead of saying the player's name. How ghetto is that?
Total fail Sony.
How? Games in the middle, Store to the left, Videos to the right of games, tot he right of videos is web browser and to the right of Browser is downloads. Simple, effective and no ads.
This is the main UI which shows your most recently played games, the games library UI is different from this.Yea i am curious how they handle the game library. Right now i am assuming you scroll but we will see.

Its so bad I fell for that.Looks too blue.

That's another interesting thing that I want to see how it's handled. The first tile seems to be the What's New section (the friend wall/ads/store recommendations). Someone in the other thread brought up how all the system sections (store, notifications, friends, profile, settings) are all icons in the horizontal bar at the very top of the UI.I'm still concerned with the fact that there doesn't seem to be any sort of filtering for all of your games.
