Level5 Vision 2013 - Vision of a social mobile f2p future [OP updated, RIP duckroll]

Great developer that is about to learn what happens when shit choices are made regarding platforms. Shame.

Are they really a great developer though? Style wise they're great no question, but when it comes to the guts of the game I've always thought pure level 5-only games were lacking. All my favourite stuff of theirs involves collaboration.

So I assume ducky died because of laughter :lol

That Layton game can't be real and while Wonderflick looks good, it's kind of depressing knowing that there is talent working on this game which could do so much better

Right now. It's a viking funeral:

don't mind if I do
I fell bad for wanting to eat this

Also like what I said previously don't expect a next gen announcement at TGS this year... I highly doubt it... their probably in the early stages of development

I also doubt it being a exclusive like Dark Cloud

I don't. But I also don't see the point of using the Layton brand for something which shares nothing in common with what anyone likes about the Layton franchise to begin with. It's just weird.

This I get. I think the franchise needs to just go away now. Unless they wanna do more crossovers or something.

It's more how terribad the new one looks. Have you seen the screenies?

Yeah... er... yikes.

I died because I sat through that shitpile of a conference. Lol. Right at the end, Hino came behind me and stabbed me in the back with Layton, the only thing from L5 I even care about. Lololol.

OP is missing Inazuma Eleven Online.

I don't know if Duckroll is dying from disgust or happiness.

Ni no Kuni 1.4M worldwide? Awesome!

Japan sales:

[NDS] Ni no Kuni: Shikkoku no Madoushi {2010-12-09} (Level 5) - 554,378
[PS3] Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch {2011-11-17} (Level 5) - 150,715
[PS3] Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - All in One Edition {2012-07-19} (Level 5) - 17,328

= 722k

Considering 1.4m is shipped, let's round up Japan to 800k and we have 600k left outside Japan.

They milk too much, other than that, Level 5 is a great developer.

Their new IPs are still interesting, like Fantasy Life and Youkai Watch.

The vita version(i haven't seen the stream so dunno the other console version, but i presume they will be the same) of wonder flick at least looks more like a normal jrpg

Seems similar - based on photos available - in look at least to the tablet versions.

I would have really, really liked it if the Layton series concluded with 6 (as much as a prequel trilogy can conclude something anyway). It's super disappointing that they keep piling on that franchise with this new hot garbage. That series used to be a really neat once-a-year kind of thing that I would really like to start feeling nostalgic about or some shit and not have its corpse dragged through the mud right in front of my eyes.

it's funny since L5 has some potential of being different yet Japan is buying so much mobile games that as a business they need to have a piece of that pie

Eh it's not so bad. Sure there are a lot of mobile games, but Wonder Flick looks nice. People were probably expecting a AAA PS4 game but I doubt Level 5 wants to risk making a high budget game after all of them flopped big time last gen.

They seemed happy with 1.4 million figure for Ni No Kuni. I won't call it a "flop"

They are going to copy SE and just do nothing but iOS and F2P games with micro transactions now? I really don't see the appeal in these games. Do they really bring that much money for them?

Are they not working on anything else?

Over 500k of that figure is the 3DS game in Japan. :p
3DS?

And it still doesn't sound that bad to me. 900k for a traditional JRPG like Ni No Kuni is pretty good. Especially since it was exclusive to PS3 and hence on a single platform.

Dark Souls sold like 2.4 million units on PC/PS3/360 and it also kinda had a re-release(Prepare to Die Edition)

It shouldn't surprise you when you see the Inazuma Eleven sales numbers. I honestly have no idea how they managed to sell 6.5 million copies in Europe with just 2 games when compared to Japan that has sold 9 games so far.

Japan is dead. I laugh at people who make crazy prediction lists for TGS.

FFXV alone is enough for TGS to be a big deal for me. Metal Gear V doesn't hurt either, or Kingdom Hearts 3. Deep Down will be playable as well, supposedly.

Level 5 was never in the top tier level.

A word of warning: Deep Down might hurt you deep down inside. ;(

haha, the teaser sure got criticized on here, but I'm fine with it. Capcom is the master of action game controls. If the game is gorgeous too, I'm cool with it, but that's never been my priority with them.

I'm expecting their take on Demon's Souls, with some Monster Hunter/Dragon's Dogma thrown in. And I do expect it'll look pretty awesome when it's ready for release.

Will it look as good as the first trailer? Maybe not, but who knows.

I'm so sorry.

I'm a bit drunk right now but wow, Layton 7 huh? I was cool with a relaunch, but uh... yeah.

Smells like Breath of Fire 6.

At least Wonde Flick looks like a fun iOS game.

Wweeewoooooweeeewooo

Wonderflick looks nice but it is probably just boring or flawed gameplay dressed in nice Level 5 production values. I really wanted to like Ni no Kuni but I got bored too quickly.

Layton 7 on the other hand looks really weird.
