Might get the 8GB if I can find it cheap. If 8GB enough for someone who will probably do little to no digital downloading? Are there Wii U games that require installs?

My thoughts on this are -- If you run out at 8, you're probably going to run out at 32. They're both not enough for any serious digital shenanigans. If you want to get your digital on in any big way, you'll need another hard drive.

None require installs. Finding a new basic will be tough as they have been in the process of getting them back from retail for months now.

This is the best news. Exactly what I was hoping they would do. $300 is much better, especially with a great pack-in like Wind Waker.

Rayman Legends looks best on Wii U. Multiplayer goodness.

Pikmin 3 has been taunting me since release. Must own.

Can pick up NintyLand for $10-20 for Ghost mansion and Animal crossing ...etc.

Cat Mario is the cat's meow.

Supporting the Earthbound release and having that on the gamepad will be sweet.

Also I never owned a Wii, so other than Galaxy and Skyward Sword, lots to go back and discover there. Starting with Prime 3, NSMB and Epic Yarn.

Very good news!

Hm... I never actually played Wind Waker. I may get this pack in a few months, once Mario Kart is out and they sort out the lack of personal accounts for digital downloads.

Keep in mind by the time you do your first update you'll only have 3GB left. It really depends what kind of dd you want. If you want just VC then the 8gb is more than enough. Thinking of downloading any full Wii U titles then neither the 8 or 32 will be enough. A mix of the two same deal. I think regardless you'll need a hdd even if you sporadically buy indie titles over this gen.

Not even close to enough but it's a start. They still need to get a lot more games out for this thing to even aim for GC level success.

I think i'll probably still end up waiting for smash brothers to release before i jump in.

I doubt this bundle will last past Christmas. Its limited for a reason.

Mario isn't due until march if the rumors are true.

i'd like to hear sony's justification for a $399.99 system that won't play ratchet & clank: into the nexus, gran turismo 6, grand theft auto v, rayman legends, doesn't come with a game, and makes you pay extra to play multiplayer games online.

every system has to prove its own value. if we made everything relative then we should have never abandoned the ps2.

Uh ps4 does come with several free games including Warframe which is hotly anticipated and you don't buy a next gen console to play last gen games

the point was more or less about perspective. what you find valuable isn't what everyone else will find valuable. i think the system being completely unable to play most of 2013's best games makes it less of a value when looking at the console at launch.

this is also the first time i've heard of warframe being hotly anticipated.

Reggie has talked previously about market reception of white handhelds in the states. That and distribution are the key roadblocks.

And there's little difference here. They've got two SKUs out for the holiday, they aren't going to add a third that will add more market confusion. As far as the buying public are concerned, the white Wii U was the one to avoid.

Whatever happened to that eShop discount on the premium model? Is that still in effect?

It's still on another year and few months for launch day buyers. I have no idea when/if they stopped offering that with Premium model. It was two years from the moment of purchase (or the launch?) anyway.

This pricedrop may be US only? I just read Nintendo Scandinavia's (Sweden, Norway, Finland & Denmark) press-release. Mentions of the Zelda-bundle and 2DS. No mention of pricedrop.

Quite surprised that none of this news was ever presented on a Nintendo Direct. Anyway, the price cut is good news and may help with Wii U sales.

Looks like we don't get the WW bundle or the price cut in Aus.

LINK

In addition to Nintendo 2DS announcement, Nintendo of America announced a $50 dollar price drop for the struggling Wii U console. We’ve just gotten word from Nintendo Australia will not be following suit. As of this point there are no current plans for a Wii U price drop in Australia or New Zealand.

This also follows news that Nintendo will not be bringing the Wind Waker HD Limited Edition to our shores, or the Wii U Wind Waker HD bundle.

The limited edition for Wind Waker HD was rather snazzy, featuring a Ganondorf figurine, so I find this news rather disappointing.

As for the price drop, the statement coming from Nintendo Australia didn’t necessarily rule out any future price drops. I suspect we’ll definitely see one, but probably not before Christmas.

How will this affect prices in EU, where price setting is formally not allowed?

They are already selling premiums at ~£/€250 and basic at ~£/€200de facto. Can we expect prices to drop even further as well come septembre?

Warframe is hotly anticipated? First I've heard. When the PS3 is having a lot of great game come out this year and the PS4 has such a weak line up, the value goes down. I can wait a year and getter a cheaper console and better games.

glad I picked a 190€ WiiU basic for W101.
compliments my white 3DS OG.

3DWorld, Zelda 3DS, I can't wait!

Pokemon and WWHD will do fine in the mean time ;-)

6 - 12 months too late, $50 too little.

The sweet spot for this thing is $249 with a pack-in game, $199 for just the console. No way this small of a price drop sells enough units to move the needle appreciably.

Unlike many others I don't believe the Wii U is dead...yet. But, this had better be just a first step and not the final one to get that price down where it needs to be.

Well, I noticed that prices in Finland for this stuff are quite steep. 70 euro for a Wii U Pro Controller. Isn't that like 40% over the european MSRP? Ouch.

Does the Wind Waker bundle come with Nintendo Land? If not, I think the current Deluxe with a *physical* copy of Nintendo Land is a better deal. At least you get a physical copy you can sell or trade. The Wind Waker digital download has basically zero value.

I see mentions of the Wii U account system not being an issue. Are the digital downloads on Wii U tied to your account now and not the hardware? I'm confused.

Games are tied to the account.

The account is stupidly tied to the hardware. Ignore anyone saying it isn't an issue.

Yes indeed, digital games (regardless of platform) are relatively of little value as you don't own it in any real meaningful way. I will be getting the the HD physical release that comes with the gannon statue personally.
