side scrolling though ? not multidirectional ?
Correct....Side scrolling.
side scrolling though ? not multidirectional ?
A Commodore 64(C64) game I played back in the day. It was a side-scrolling, top view, shooter (man and gun only!!, no space ship/vehicle types). You could choose the planets(stages) which had different amounts of reward(money) depending on their difficulty.
Ammo(grenades, dynamite, etc)and health packs were acquired before the start of each mission. Space Bar(on the keyboard) was the grenade button, dynamite was required to break through linear barricades in some of the harder stages.
I'm 99% sure i played this on cassette, this game had far too much "stuff" for a cartridge.
Forgotten Worlds?
No that wasn't it. I think I bought this game in a pack of 6 or 8 games for my cousin(who was the one who owned the C64) back in the day.
Are there any sites I can look up that can show what game packs were available for the C64?
Okay, I've wondered about this one for waaay too long.
Arcade game, circa 1987-1993 or so. I want to say that it was most likely 1990 or 1991 that I played it. I remember it being 4-player, a beat-'em-up, fantasy-themed, though maybe with some futuristic elements. I want to say that I remember the playable characters as one white guy, one black guy, one white girl, and either another girl or some other sort of fair-skinned guy. I know that it sounds kind of like Quartet, but I'm pretty sure that it isn't -- I remember it being a beat-'em-up or similar, not a side-scrolling platformer, and with much more circa '90/'91 16-bittish graphics.
One of the defining things that I remember about it was that there were a lot of powerups and items and such that you walk around and pick up. Not like just a knife or lead pipe or crowbar or whatever like in Double Dragon or Final Fight, but armor and such that can get knocked off of you when you get hit. One thing that I recall really vividly was that characters' shoes could get knocked off when someone was attacked, and the shoes could then be picked up by the other players (I think with the female character(s) wearing high heels??).
My bet is that it was probably something by one of the Japanese developers that isn't really around anymore like Data East or Kaneko or something, but I dunno, Capcom and Konami have surprised me before. Ideas?
There was a NES game my cousin and I would play when we were kids, we'd rent it from the video store.
It was some kind of olympics game and we were super addicted to it. It had multiple different events, the kind where you'd have to mash the buttons.
The only detail I remember is that it had a swimming event and it was from a side on view (not top down).
I've never been able to find the game since.

Ok, bear with me, my memory is fuzzy.
This was a PC game, possibly from the mid to late 90s, I used to play it when I was a kid. It was a futuristic vehicle combat game, like future motorbikes, not caricature looking but realistically advanced, so were the levels. After choosing your vehicle you started in the center of the Arena along with the other participants, there were different huge rooms behind huge doors, I believe, each room had different platforming options. There were power ups, and your vehicle could jump. Every vehicle could create an energy trail wall, kinda like Tron light walls, for a short distance, this recharged after a while, the color of it matched the color of your vehicle, this was used to damage your rivals.
After a while, if there was no last man standing, some sort of force field would appear at the center of the arena expanding at a medium pace, eventually it would reach every space of the level, killing every participant on its way. The last one to die was the winner, I believe.
I know it's not much but that's all I could remember.
The game was pretty cool for its time, and the graphics were great. I don't remember why I stopped playing, if it was demo or a full game or if i am just imagining stuff, because I've searched and asked on the internet for years with no success.
Help me gaf!!!
Konami'shas swimming.
DeathDrome?
That would be Strikers 1945 i guess
Strikers 1945 II?
PC game I've played between 2000-2005.
I only remember playing the demo. But you're in some kind of tank/mech (futuristic, lasers and stuff). The demo starts on some kind of coastline. There's a road leading up to some kind of laser gate. There were a lot of special pickups etc...I also remember there was some kind of "secret room" under the road with some items in it.
I'm afraid that's all I really remember. I've been looking for this game for years now :/ Thanks in advance!
NiceYes that's it. Thanks! Nostalgia overload just now.
Nice
Got one for the veteran gamers - the very first game I remember playing with my brother as a child: the system probably was the Atari 2600 / VCS (at least a TV gaming system of that time with a joystick with only one firebutton). 1 versus 1 gameplay on a single screen. To the left & right a castle, a catapult and a soldier, in the middle a lake. All you had to do was to press the fire button for the correct length of time to fire a rock and try to hit the enemy's castle three times (think Worms without aiming up/down). You could also hit the other catapult, forcing the enemy to get a new one, or hit the other soldier directly.
Perhaps anyone remembers that gem's name?
It's a PC DOS game I was playing in the 90s, I remember playing a bouncing ball and it kinda was a platform game where you can go back and forth between the levels. You needed to collect items to progress and resolve puzzles, one of the items I remember is a packet of crisps... I also remember going back and forth in a street zone many times... Also the game was always crashing my computer at the same place so I never completed this game... I think it was near a sea dock at the right of the street zone.
I can't remember anything else unfortunately, but if a see a picture of the game I'm sure I'll be able to recognize it !
I'm wondering what the PC iterations of the Dizzy games were like, 'cause the description kinda fits the NES versions (but not, really, the 8-bit home computer ones)
Edit: Fantastic Dizzy:
]
That it, by any chance?
Smithereens! for the Odyssey 2? Sounds like it.
Recoil, by Zipper Interactive. Great fun game!
There was a 90s arena vehicular shooter that I don't remember much of. I think it was mid to late 90s on PC and had a level called Alcatraz ii
That's it, thanks a bunch! So it was on a different console than the VCS.
There's this game I used to play on ps1 when I was a kid. All what I remember is that it was fully in Japanese. The idea is that there're many male and female characters you choose from with in an arena of your choice. Each character has a special ability that you will have to use to eliminate other players from the arena and be the last to stand. I remember one of the female characters had red clothes and black hair, and she had the ability to touch rocks and turn them into hearts that if any player touches they would increase his/her HP. Even though the game was in Japanese, I remember there were the words "Boy Boy" as the title on the disc.
I've searched in many websites, but I couldn't find a single trace of this game :l
Poitters' Point/Poy Poy?

i've never played the game, but this doesn't look like anything that i've ever seen from it. are these an early build or something? maybe they're just weird screens.
I briefly played what I think was one of those 90s CG games (like Myst), but when I say briefly I mean briefly. All I remember is I was playing as a robot of some kind in first person perspective, and going through a foggy jungle, eventually coming to a base or facility of some kind, and that's all I recall. Might have been an enemy somewhere, but it was like 17 years ago so hazy memory.
Every few years I think of this game and sometimes I remember it's name...this is not one of those times.
It'sa side-scroller for the NES. You are a guy with a gun and the first stage is at night I believe. You shoot enemies that look like Zentraedi battle pods from Robotech. That's all I got...

Journey to Silus?
And I'll throw out Probotector, the European version of Contra, that featured robots instead of humans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3X38Vnlz70

Main character was a blue little guy. He wore a hood as well.
Edit: Maybe he was red and the hood blue IDK
It's been 10+ years since I last played this game and I can't quite get the details in my head.
I do remember collecting flowers (maybe sunflowers), some keys to unlock doors inside the levels and also carnivorous plants being a hazard. Poisonous mushrooms are also a possibility, but I can't be sure about those.
It wasn't a great hit game or anything but I do have some nice memories playing it. Any help finding it again?
Remember a game, I believe it was for nes, you were a normal dude but if you found enough of power ups you turned into a werewolf with metal(?) blade hands who could climb in ceilings and maybe walls?
