GTA V - The little details that caught your attention?

I think the first time the game really blew my mind was when I changed to Franklin and he was playing with Chop. I played fetch with him for a little while, then thought it would be funny if I started throwing the ball at people's heads. After doing so then getting into a fight, I made chop attack someone who was trying to run and it was funny as hell. I then jumped in a car and Franklin opened the door for chopped to let him in to ride with me. That's when I knew that this game was tha shiznit. Riddin' wit muh dawg!

Played tennis with Amanda then headed off to a bar with her afterwards. When I dropped her off after our night out her mascara had smeared.

Start running, Hit the jump button, Hit the punch button.

Do it...DO IT NOW!

I had a similar experience. I was like, "what if I throw the ball and get the fuck out in car, would be funny if chop runs after the car". Well, I was plreasantly surprised they thought about that and let chop enter the then. Then we played fetch at the beach. Amazing game.

Replaying the game, I just noticed that Michael's phone in the prologue is an old "dumb" phone since it takes place in 2004.

If you have a wanted level in a car your character starts to get sort of fidgety and constantly checks his rear and sideview mirrors.

Haven't had a chance to start the game yet properly, just messing around on my brother's profile for now but have had so many instances in the short time I've played that made me appreciate the many little things in this game. Here's some interesting dialogue I came across during some side missions.

Trevor's last two lines in the first pic give me the idea that's rockstar taking a dig at people's perceptions of game developers.

Running from the law I slip and fall into the water, steal a parked jet-ski and run like hell, gaps in the police vision allow me to escape but only by heading out to sea. The waves are cool so I wonder if they are bigger further out. Kept going and I guess I found the "edge" of the map, the boat starts to sink and suddenly I am in the water with two hungry sharks. Punching them in the face turns out to be ineffective. Death ensues.

Interesting boundary effects are fun.

As a brief opposite to the thread, paramedics no longer actually put people in body bags. They just say something like "Yep, might as well get the body bag" and then get back in the ambulance and drive off, leaving the uncovered corpse in the street.

I love the little touches in the animations. When Trevor is digging and talking to Michael, he spins his spade in his hand and it looks very natural. Which on its own isn't anything special, but when you consider the sheer number of animations in this game adding little life-like touches like that everywhere really adds to the immersion. It's as impressive as the amount of unique dialogue, but can be easily missed or taken for granted.

Apparently I'm an idiot... can someone explain what's going on here?

I believe they're designed to buckle after a head-on collision to take the brunt of the crash.

Random moment: while being chased as Michael on a jet-ski with his daughter, a car jumped across the canal right in front of us, Dukes of Hazzard-style... and it's not scripted, since I had to retry that sequence several times to get my bearings.

Bombing down the Great Ocean Highway just having crossed the bridge over the Zancudo with the Fort Zancudo tunnel ahead (ie entering Blaine County) the radio fizzes and switches stations.

When Trevor comments (and it doesn't lead to a confrontation) the target will often quicken their step getting away as quickly as possible without breaking into a run not wanting any further attention from him.

Attacking with Unarmed when in a car to slag off other drivers and pedestrians, and the differing reactions.

Kicking the shit out of the front of my car on the hard shoulder when the suspension goes (while waiting for a lift).

Noticed on one of the mission Lester comes with you he has his own animation for getting into cars; he doesn't use the normal stock "one leg in" animation, he sits into the car butt first and rotates his legs in like a handicapped person would do. With all the other touches in this thread, the fact they would do something like this is amazing.

Last night I was running around with Trevor near the quarry (at night) and I ran in front of a private patrol/security car creeping around the dirt paths. It was a pretty awesome detail.

what happends when you go to that spot on the map with enough money that Lester mentions on the pre-order map or something?

Also a mission last night, I get out of the car in front of Michaels house and at the exact same time Jimmy gets out of the same car and mentions something about exercise. It was obviously a glitch but hilarious. Then Jimmy goes upstairs and does pushups.

It's been a few days since I posted in here, about the best game ever made.

Just jumped off a roof landed on a wooden fence with 3 rungs. Trevors body smashed the first 2 rungs but not the whole lot.
Walked up to a jeep in someones driveway to steal, suddenly the hood popped open and smoke came out, indicating a broken down vehicle
and this one, wow.

Used Trevors phone in the wilderness, with the camera aimed so I could see the phone in his hand, the menu items in the bottom right pop up actually highlight same on the phone in his hand.
All 3 characters have different phones, one Android, one Apple and one Windows phone!

I actually do miss the analogue moving forward (walking) - you could do it really slow and have this very casual walk - there's only digital walking forward now - all or none.

Hey Amanda question, does anyone know if you
can fuck your own wife? I mean I'd like to think so - I took her out once but we just got drunk and fought :(

Just jumped in someones buggy in the front yard at night in Sandy Shores - surprisingly it was alarmed.

Lights went on in the house when the alarm went off.

Two things that pleased me.

The first was while driving around with Michael, I stopped at a store to get something. When I came out I decided to steal a new car. The people hanging out in front of the store all jumped in surprise and then one of them took out their cell phone and snapped a picture as I drove off. Pretty neat.

The second time I was playing with my friend watching. I decided to switch from Michael to Trevor saying 'I wonder what Trevor's up to.' My friend said 'probably nothing good.' Lo and behold we take control of Trevor and he's driving full tilt down the highway being chased by cops with a two star wanted level! My friend and. I started laughing so hard at that.

Really great game.

One small annoyance was doing those random 'help citizens' mini missions. When this guy was getting robbed I caught the perp and gave him back his wallet, which had $200. When he turned around I shot him and took his money, which was only $88?

This is so awesome. R* is really consistent with the small details.

Different cars have subtly different colored headlights.

During the
second hunting mission
I noticed some of the wild flowers look exactly like the ones you can pick up in Red Dead Redemption.

I can't get over all of the subtle facial expressions in the cutscenes. There are too many to count, but one I remember noticing early on was
when Trevor and Michael reunite and Michael motions for his son to get behind him
. It conveys the emotions perfectly without any dialogue. It's not just realistic graphics, it's good acting. Kudos to the animators, they did a great job.

Gotta love NPC in the game using the interaction button on the Dpad

Needed a car so I walked up to a nice house with a fast car. The owner was outside texting someone, so I (Franklin) say "Yo, how you doin" and the guy says "I'm doing fine" as he quits texting he says to me "I have a question to you, do you think I care if I live or die?" Then he proceeds to beat the shit out of me lol xD

If you leave the driver's door opened on a car with the headlights on, I think you can hear a 'ding ding ding' sound coming from inside (not sure how it's called).

Everyone and anyone on Vespucci Beach wants to start a fight for no reason. Stand in front of 3 people atleast 2 of them want to start a brawl. At least for me
