Watch Dogs PC specs (x64 only, Quad Core minimum, recommended 8-core and 2GB VRAM)

I can't wait until all games finally lose the shackles of 32 bit. It has been a long time coming.

Maybe it will finally even be worth it to do a CPU upgrade again! Good times.

The 8 cores in PS4 and Xbox One are very weak. I think anyone with a 2500K and up should be more than fine. I wouldn't doubt if this turns out to be a poorly optimized piece of garbage. It will be funny to watch people make all sorts of upgrades that aren't needed because they feel their hardware is suddenly shit over Watch Dogs.

Wow my 4gb ram/HD5850/Phenom x4 965 blackedition are barely around the minimum settings... I'll need to add more Ram for starters I guess since I can't afford a new game.

Out of everything, thats the first thing that popped up in my eyes :)

Now if only Dx9 were die off quicker, I'd be sooo happy.

64bit applications will ensure that considering that to really use them well you need a modern windows os and all of them (vista to 8.1) support higher dx versions with better performance. DX9 is going to die because of this, steamos, and mantle in little ways that will help all gamers. I loved DX9 when it came out was truly ahead of it's time, now it drags things down and along with other bloaty aspects of windows robs gamers of performance.

Sounds horribly unoptimized if it requires 8 cores/threads for the better graphics settings considering how weak the PS4 and Xbone processors are. You'd think an I5 overclocked to 4.5 ghz should be enough to max out any game short of crazy resolution triple monitor setups.

I would need to upgrade most of my PC to play next-gen games at a decent performance... a new GPU, a new CPU, more RAM a better power supply to manage all this... Ugh... Stuff like this makes me want to buy a PS4 instead.

Just a guess but the "recommended" and "ultra" spec should run the game muuuuuuuuch better than the PS4/X1 version.

that next gen optimization

If BF4 beta is an indicator...

Normally an Intel quad core CPU beats an AMD 8-core ... They're cheap and they're crap. Sorry AMD fans.

They're not bad in recent games. 6300 or 8320 being pretty good for the money. I can get a 8+2 phase ATX AM3+ board that'll do atleast 4.5Ghz on either chip and 8320 for around the cost of a none K i5 3570 in Canada, locally(I dont buy online anymore). It's not bad. With the 6300 I can get a cooler as well.

Well the recommended actually uses a 7850, considering the closed platform, I'd expect PS4 to be around the recommended, with the ultra blowing it away.

on the fringe of the future

where cores now matter

and high vram reigns supreme

i've been safe for far too long, grown fat and overly comfortable

this is scary

In most games, it matters not http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2274887

But it all depends how the game is coded. Even AMD's Vishera and Zambezi '8-core' CPUs are really 4 modules that each have two weak integer pipelines in them.

Hmmph. I still think of Hyper-Threading as it was in the Pentium4 era.

My rig is only just a year old, but I'm feeling kinda squeemish about my gtx680 "only" havng 2gigs of vram.

I just built a 660ti/3570k computer last October and I'm already feeling inferior.

Really? AA/AC run 40-60fps maxed for me bro

I was running a 6850 with my Q8300 at the time, It only got bad when I was out in the open overlooking the city, I was getting like 20-35fps on top of buildings but 40-50 indoors.

It may not be relevant, but Assassin's Creed 3 had quad-core as recommended, but the game only really used one core and the rest basically did little to nothing. Hopefully these insane specs aren't just Ubi telling us that we have to brute force a console port.

Whew, I'm good to go. Had to double check that 8 core vs 4-with-hyperthreading thing. Title had me worried.

3570 should do fine especially oc'ed if not we know were ubisoft fucked up in optimizing for pc. the 660ti is just gonna have to be upgraded. Considering where next gen machines are in compute performance wait for cards that perform multiplatforms title well and just get one that fits your needs.

Wowzers. These are cross-gen titles and already it seems like there's a sudden jump.

I wonder if requirements will plateau as next-gen exclusive games become more common place or if we'll see such a wide range from one end of the gen to the other as with the last.

I've got a quad core intel Core i5-3570K @ 4.2Ghz and 8Gb of Crucial Ballistic ram.
I've also got a GTX 560 1Gb. I'm not buying a new graphics card unless I really have to.

I'm bout dat next gen life

LMAO!!! Dat joint good!!

I was planning to upgrade from my Phenom II x4 965BE to a FX-8350 and from my 6870 to a 7870 2gb anyway.

Do I really need more than 8gb of RAM at this point though?

Interested to see how my PC will handle this, as it's the first game that should give it a little trouble. But my specs are still a bit above the ultra, so it should be okay.

I hope It can go 60fps with all effects still on.

Do I really need more than 8gb of RAM at this point though?

Probably not.

Yeah I think most people are going to want 4GB or more VRAM from now on for DEM TEXTURES.
