Watch Dogs PC specs (x64 only, Quad Core minimum, recommended 8-core and 2GB VRAM)

Only a 670 for Ultra? Ok then.

Playing in 1440p though so my 2nd one will come in handy most likely.

edit - loving all the x64 only

So, I have i7-930, Radeon HD 6870, and 12 GB of RAM; should I grab a 7950/7970 or wait a bit for something better (e.g. R9 280X)?

Always I considered The Division looking a bit better than Watch_Dogs. I don't know, I might be wrong or not, but is having something else added to the visuals. If here is asking for so much already, I'm expecting for Division to ask for even more or equal specs.

Those all seem reasonable but the recommended IvyBridge i7 kind of comes out of no where.

This is the off base thing since I know even good i7 SB CPU's like the 2600k will be fine for years let alone that 3930k.

I'm not complaining or unhappy but curious as to why unless there's something happening with HW utilization stemming from consoles being 8 cores. If my HW is going to be worked properly and actually benefit me then I'm all for it. I just don't want a game to be poorly optimized and stress my parts more when not really doing much more than what I do now. That hopefully made sense.

I should be ok but will probably go with PS4 version for extra content.

Get the 7970 - the R9 280X is the same card but rebranded and will cost more than a 7970 when released.

I can't believe there are people actively moaning about this needing a quad-core minimum, eight-core (read: threads) recommended.

The general consumer quad-core chip we all know and love came out in 2006, the eight threaded 920 in 2008, yet people are blaming Ubisoft creating a bad "port"?

True, I just ignored that. I'm assuming both my i7-930 or q9450 will handle it just fine. If not, i've been looking for an excuse to upgrade but short of a hardware failure no games have I noticed a CPU bottleneck. At least among the games I play.

Probably gonna console game most non-fps games until things start leveling out again for pc specs.

Being a new gen PC gamer is just too expensive (for me) to do again.

The Intel i7-3770 is a 8 thread 4 core CPU. I'd be surprised if the CPU is utilised %100. Crysis 3 barely uses %50 CPU.

Hope the 660 OEM is enough for 1080p 30fps.

I wonder how those people would have survived the 90s or early 00s, when your 2 year old system really was out of date.

Considering a $549.99 Intel CPU technically doesn't meet the "recommended" specs...

Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 3.4GHz LGA 2011 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor

That's what people are up in arms about seeing as the 4930k can run circles around two PS4's duct-taped together.

I'm thinking that 3570k is going to be quite the bottleneck in Watch Dogs. Time to look for a cheap 3770k methinks.

That seems a little... off for some reason. Do they use the same engine? How optimized is AC3 on the PC?

My x6 1090t/12gb RAM/7970GE/SSD will still destroy this game at ultra, love that I have been able to get so much life out of my rig through upgrading with second hand or parts that were on special (my initial build on this mobo was a x3 720, 7900GT, 4GB & no SSD in 2009)and it will last even longer than I ever hoped for.

My poor machine is min specs. :( Oh well, that's why I'm getting it on the X1, and upgrading my PC next year.

Glad to see devs are finally requiring 64-bit. That's been a long time coming!

I think it's great we're finally moving to a 64-bit application standard, DX11 standard, and taking advantage of Quad-Octo (likely referring to threads however) CPUs.

I realize there are probably a few users who may not agree but in my opinion we have been limited for far too long on outdated standards.

I don't know why but that seems off. A current gen port is not something that I would imagine taking up 100% of CPU cycles unless it's poorly optimized.

those 8 Jaguar cores ain't running Watchdog on Ultra settings, PC version will look stunning for those that have the specs for it,

FX6300, HD7850 2GB, 8GB DDR3... Will look pretty on my machine.

Unless they actually put effort in the Wii U version, then i`ll get it on that
Muhahaha like they would do that

I expect VRAM usage to increase vastly too on top of those which is why I am holding off on video cards for now. (doesn't help AMD is hiding their flagship card under NDA until the last second)

nah its just the game that s assly optimized.

That's a great CPU. It keeps goin, and goin, etc. I upgraded to a 8320, but I feel like I didn't even need to.

I have the same CPU but I keep it at stock 3.4ghz. Do you think I should buy an aftermarket cooler (looking at CM Hyper 212 Evo) and OC to 4.0ghz instead of buying an 8-core?

Also, these specs are for running at 1080p, right? So if we have lesser monitors (like 1600x900) we won't need as much power, correct?

Shoot for watercooling and OC the shit out of it.

AC3 seems pretty horribly optimized on the PC. However, it seems to scale well when throwing cores/threads at the problem:

can you run around boston in ac3 60fps on even the best of rigs?

Wish I could test it on a 3930k or something. Guess 6 cores should be enough.
