I've asked two of my translators, one of whom lives in Japan and speaks it absolutely fluntly, it just mentions him working on a game and that game could easily be Pokémon X & Y. Besides, even if it does say new game, X & Y are new games.

This is why the Japanese fandom is speculating a Mega Pikachu, too, and not a new game.

It is vague, could go either way, but should NOT be stated as definitely being a new game. I will honestly be surprised if they show a new game on this, but hell...I'm open to it.

Edit: One of the translators is now saying it does say new. Urgh, I hate Japanese at times haha

I would like to believe that it's a Pokemon Pikachu 3 app for the 3DS. The game could register the steps like the 3DS has, and offer various things for players like items, berries, and potentially the grand prize of all; a Pikachuite.

Other than that, I'd have a hard time guessing. It says "unprecedented", so a simple thing like Hey You Pikachu 2 or the like wouldn't really make sense.

Alternative tinfoil hat theory: Pikachu is retconned into being the final evo of Pichu, with Raichu becoming the final evo of Dedenne. That'd cause quite a ruckus from the fandom.
