The great thing is: These two consoles are launching almost at the same time, people concerned about the lack of processing power with the Xbone (and general lack of games as well, especially with Sony's superior indie and F2P support) can just opt for the cheaper and better PS4.

*vomits at f2p games* Otherwise *high five* you're not wrong m8

  • Development started later (compared to PS4)
  • Reveal event pushed back
  • Driver/OS not up to par
  • THIS looks just like a bunch of HTPC components thrown together
  • Launch list of countries reduced
  • 3rd party title footage severely limited
  • Unclear policies, messaging
It's all starting to add up.

Unprecedented disaster? Don't forget he's also hinting at them risking hardware failure again.

I really really want to be a fly in the wall into the whole Xbox One process. It's like they fumbled everything. Did they think Sony would just stumble out of the gate again? Horrible PR. Unable to get their message across without being complete asses. Who knows what's going through their minds anymore.

MS dun goofed. They had a one year head start on Sony this past gen and they blew the new gen so badly it's not even funny. How could they be this far behind?

KINECT KINECT KINECT That's why!

Easy_D

never left the stone age
So if I'm reading this right, we'll have a next-gen RROD situation?
Up-clocks and risks! Tsk tsk.

CBOAT is slipping, it's almost like he's talking normally at that bottom line.

I still stand by my theory that CBOAT is more than one person. Probably five people,

Chris
Barry
Oscar
Andrew
&
Tom

Edit: People doubting CBOAT? Seriously? He doesn't spout bullshit. Doesn't mean he's 100% right all the time, but his info is usually solid. The times he turns out to be wrong he apologizes even. Class act behind all the (purposeful) typos.

Not too familiar, but I think it's so that news sites don't pick it up. Imagine if Kotaku quoted him.
How would that not be a good thing? He would have to stand by these "leaks" he is always a part of?

He was right on prince of persia, thing is they didnt debut it at E3 which most likely was a last minute change of plans

When did they debut a console Prince of Persia? All I've seen was some iPhone/iPad PoP title which never would have been shown at a MS conference.

Is he talking about the hardware having performance problems or reliability problems? I don't get the connection from

sub-1080p to hardware issues to 'risk'

I read it as:

1080p is rare you will see the issues when the hardware is available. Also up clocks, risky as hell, risk everywhere including the 2013 launch.

I'm amazed MS didn't design the Xbone to handle 1080p with ease.I can't imagine being stuck with 720p-900p for the next 5+ years.

I'm glad you caught that. It's almost as "cringeworthy" to see those who grasp and regurgitate the same arguments which have had some banned and others outright ridiculed. The same types of post that try to downplay the advantage PS4 has. It's not looking for some moral victory to try to explain why the PS4 is more powerful. If it's not music to your ears then that's not my problem.

I may not respond a lot in those threads but I certainly catch it all.

If you're going to be a bystander and notice what I say then surely you can see the other side of the spectrum.

I can read, I notice what posters say and post accordingly. You are not a special case.

To me it was always obvious that it would have been ideal if they both launched in 2014, or whenever DDR4/stacked DRAM would be available. Especially for MS...It's really unfortunate, like they waited this long, but both came out a year too soon :(

If I'm being honest this just seems like another Cboat statement that qualifies as an obvious one.

We've already heard about BF4 being 720p, and even Killer Instinct is 720p. It's not hard to imagine plenty of other XB1 launch games are gonna be the same.

Wouldn't be surprised at hardware failure again. Would be surprised if hardware failure in question was overheating again. Also I get the sense people are more down on the X1 and more willing (and/or ignorant enough) to put up with shit for the 360. I don't think you'll find as many people willing to wrap their X1 with a towel so it would keep on chugging for a few more weeks or open it up and put pieces of eraser near the cpu. In that context it would be an unprecedented disaster.

Dangling modifiers galore! If he is talking about hardware failure that flies in the face of all other evidence we have. Same goes for launching in 2014. It seems like Microsoft is ok with losing the Great Resolution War of 2013, and I doubt it will be something anyone will care about other than the minority of PS4 owners complaining about being held back by Xbox as well as the minority of PC owners complaining about being held back by Xbox and PS4.

How? How did MS get scooped my Sony so easily when they had a longer time to work on Xbox One than Sony with PS4 (numerous PS3/PSP iterations and the freaking Vita between 2005-2013)?

It truly baffles me that a company would screw up this much.

So TRUE, also MS is literally sitting in mountains of cash!

True, but with typical CBOAT, some of his claims do take a while to be confirmed. And the whole 'risk' thing is definitely up in the air, even if it's a claim that's subjective and open-ended.

He isnt talking launch he is talking about the future of the console. Years down the road.

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo

Sony has the hardware knowledge, know-how and experience. MS is still MOSTLY a software company. Its a well known fact their hardware isn't that good, I mean look at their phones and tablets.

Upclocks shouldn't be a risk unless voltage was also raised. The upclocks are not big enough to cause issues related to RROD. RROD were hardware issues. If you try to force extra performance out of a power envelope that cannot support it, you get soft crashes.

Also, a 1080p framebuffer easily fits in 32MB of eSRAM. So unless it is bandwidth starved (which it shouldn't be), I don't see that as an issue either.

Xbox fans who are still defending Microsoft's lazy design choices stopped caring about anything graphics-related as soon as nobody could prove MS had a more powerful system.

Sounds like Nintendo fanatics and their idiotic "graphics don't matter/HD games aren't needed!" schtick during the Wii era. And of course they are now eating up those tasty Nintendo HD games and boasting about upscaled 720p games and whatnot.

CBOAT is right near 90% of the time don't see why people would doubt him .
After seeing what MS was going threw this year you know something had to be up .
To much PR problems and mistakes .

“Ye! We are really excited about that too. I am sure your audience knows that 4K is the next big thing. Xbox One is a home entertainment system that is built for future. It supports 4K gaming and entertainment. In fact we are shipping an HDMI cable that is 4K rated. So when you get your HDMI cable out of the box it is 4K rated. We are looking forward to bringing 4K capabilities to our consumers in the future, but it depends on the developers,” he added."

In Larry Hryb and developers we trust. (I keed, I keed!)

Well, if you look at the specs of both machines, you can see that the PS4 has been developed as a 1080p console. The XBone.... clearly not.
