Doesn't the game have to support it? I remember that being an issue early in the generation for people with 1080i TVs. Games that didn't support 1080i would run in 480p.

Well yes. Some early games didn't have that feature, no. But most games did in the end, and it was definitely scaled from 720p native.

To clarify, I don't think CBOAT specifically confirmed significant tech issues. Bish hinted at it and CBOAT said something cryptic like that's not the issue (regarding resolutions, I believe) and dropped the wait for launch bomb, suggesting something isn't going right.
Yeah, but that right there is damn foreboding. Any 360 launch buyers here (and I'm one of em) are probably suffering flashbacks.

IS adam sessler associated with xbox in some way? or is he trying to hold his reservations until something comes to public light? Everything I have seen seems like maybe he knows something about the xbox and appears to be pro Xbox One.

I think he just like fighting for the underdog/play the devils advocate. He's very apologetic on anything X1.

I'm gonna guess MS will blame it on driver/firmware issues.

I learned with the 360 not to buy a Microsoft console until 3 or 4 years after launch, when they realize how bad they messed up the original hardware and finally admit it and fix it.

This time however, I have no intention of buying a Microsoft console.

Maybe I'll get the Xbox TWO, unless the PS5 blows that away too. Call me back in 10 years for Next-Next Gen.

Yes, they have. Windows ME was God-awful. My old Compaq Presario desktop (64MB RAM, 30GB HDD) would lock-up multiple times a day because of it. Windows 98 ran flawlessly on it.

Woah I think I had the same computer. Space Pinball was god-tier though. It really is all about the games.

Arthur Gies is so obnoxious. Also, I'm surprised this thread blew up in such a short while. I just woke up and need to go through so many pages.

Aren't Microsoft having a press event this coming week? I know the Giantbomb guys said on their Friday show they were going there to look at games but also said they wouldn't be able to talk about them. Hopefully after that we can get some more info to leak.

I can't even fathom that. The system looks like a fucking VCR in size. How can it cave ala RROD? I thought the size was a major countermeasure.

The natural progression for technology is to get smaller over time, not larger. If your hardware is elegantly designed it can be more compact. I think the Xbone is probably just poorly engineered.

Honestly I am not surprised at all due to these facts:

1. XB1 hardware is weaker than PS4
2. XB1 has more complex memory architecture that hinders the devs to exploit it easily. Just the same way PS3 had separate pools of mem and cell was difficult to master so multi-plats suffer. But in PS3's favor, it was still stronger machine than 360 and we saw the results of it with 1st party titles and later even in multi-plats. XB1 will improve for sure as time goes on, but never be better than PS4. NEVER.

But the biggest factor is this:

3. MS wanted to make an all in one entertainment box running 3 crappy OS, and not a games machine as the priority. This is what we all should have focused on when they showed it at E3. That is their main focus not it being a games machine first. Unlike Sony who outright said they have a built the best next-gen gaming machine and other media is secondary.

MS vision has been realized in XB1 but unfortunately core gamers don't like it. That's all there is to it.

Adam finally realized that Xbox Live isn't actually free, and that his price comparison of $500 for the Xbone and $460 for a PS4 and PS+ was inaccurate?

Ahh. Nice. I remember that Sessler comparison. But truth be honest guys, difference between 720p and 1080p is not much though. i rather the games run smoothly without screen tearing. I would be more concerned with these "other" issues that were mentioned by the GAF insiders.

Something definitely seems strange with those tweets, I'm just curious to see if this information will ever see the light of day before Xbox One launches

Thinking the 'thing' here is not that the games look bad, and so cannot be reviewed.

Instead, I think maybe it is because the OS is fucking jank, chugging and freezing through every action. MS would want this fixed asap, and wouldn't want issues with this reflecting on the games, because that pisses off third parties as well.

oh shit......

I didn't think a company could reach the disaster of RRoD ever again but damn something is not right in the Microsoft camp

Wait for launch. That is what the butt has said.

I'm sensing some bad shit. The press doesn't know shit, and if they did, they would never say it. Do you think they'd jeopardize their relationships with these companies? Hell no. Burn bridges? Get black listed? Break embargoes, NDAs and confidentiality agreements? Fuck no. They wouldn't.

There have been murmurs of serious bugs and performance issues with Xbox One's OS. So severe that it interferes with games. We'll see if this is actually true. So far, leaks and CBOAT's posts have been true.

The new Xbox being surprisingly less powerful than the new Playstation and people on the Internet talking about it also reminds me of actual human beings being persecuted and risking their lives against tyrants.

Here is the gist

1. Xbox one is struggling to reach 1080p resolution on some of their games due to immature tool sets and esRAM which is currently hindering ease of development

2. The OS itself is likely buggy and will be on launch date

3. DRM fix might not come on launch date

The gaming industry is so cryptic and its really childish. When you have all these dudes in the know screaming in public, "i know something you don't know, doo daa doo daa" it sounds like a bunch grade schoolers whispering.

If you can't say something then stfu about. I promise it isn't hard unless your an attention whore. For the sake of everyone, just keep to yourself unless your going to outright tell us.

Sounds exactly like the PS3 at launch.

Something is aloof in the game industry...
This talking in code foolishness. What is going on?

Honestly, someone in the know needs to leak the info to someone not in the know so we can all be set free.

No bullshit, but during the initial Xbone reveal I thought for a moment they managed to fit the whole damn thing into the Kinect 2.0 enclosure. Imagine that: No disk drive, and fully integrated with Kinect into one novel form factor. I was amazed.

And then I saw the big ole box right next to it and those illusions were shattered.

Would have been amazing though.
