Xbox One Kinect and Gameplay Video (UI stuff)

In the time it takes for someone to say "Xbox, record", someone else can easily press the PS4 share button before they're finished saying it.

Anyway, I thought the majority of people disliked the Windows 8 Metro UI, which this is based off of.

"Record that" or whatever it is saves the previous 30 seconds I think to a separate file. It's always recording. You can get more than that by calling up the game DVR.

Of course it's fake. Most of these (pomoriontal videos/)ads are faked and are completely scripted till the last nanosecond. I wonder why people expect these kind of videos to be real.
Kinect 2 is an additional controller.

Some things will be faster with Kinect i.e. "record that"/"share"/"open x app or game/snap x app".

Some things will be faster with controller, i.e. navigating currently opened menus.

People still seem to be of the mindset that Kinect needs is meant to be a be all, end all device and that every single implementation needs to reflect that. When it isn't true.

Kinect is there to supplement your experience, not take it over.
At least someone here gets it.

nah. I'm good with my expectations. The way the system is staged is specifically to deliver things like this.

If anything, the 360 showed what they were able to do with a system NOT designed with this in mind.

Will it be amazing day 1. maybe not but from day 1 to day 365 will be a major difference.

*shrug* Talking from experience here man, don't set yourself up for disappointment! Expect a working UI first, then hope for awesomeness.

Like the new sound effects.

Dreamcast-ish.

Aside from that, I doubt the UI is that fluid considering how much Microsoft has hidden live demos of the UI in a closet.

Making fun of his post.

Yup

really? You're using a glitch on a old dev build to drum up concern for the final OS?

If it works half that well in practice, hell, 1/3 that well in practice, it's absolutely revolutionizing console and pc user interface. To me, regardless of how much you are in this "just for the games", these features are pretty amazing and I think are a selling point.

Insert completely unnecessary except for the absurdly hostile nature of all console threads lately and it drives me fucking crazy obligatory derp: "Have both consoles preordered, looking forward to PS4 and X1, for the record."

it just bothers me they were lazy with it

he is already in the party on first log in
activity feed = friends individual profile

i dont care if they cut to prerecorded footage or whatever, but dont insult me by having such lazy cutting and editing

Very excited for actual look at this shit, next month on that tour thing, xbox one and I are gunna have some personal UI time

It can't work like that. Microsoft hasn't figured out how to remove load times from games and movies. I think the overall experience will resemble that though.

The already loaded game should come up pretty quickly, and whatever's connected to the HDMI-in. The only significant loading should be with games and apps that are pretty big and not resident in memory.

Ayup. But I'm sure it's just a case of 'lol kidding'.

Ah, I should watch it again. I thought he was loading Titanfall for the first time.

So he is watching Pacific Rim, then resume a Titanfall match and he is still alive.

Nah, he was in matchmaking, that was the idea of the demo.

Hasn't been anything "real" shown since, and with the rumors going around it seems it will still be buggy. I'll take that real situation vs. an advertisement.

Do you have a video of PS4 demo stations too that are out in the wild? Curious how finished that UI is right now.

People are real eager to point out the obvious here.

Probably because people are desperate for some actual footage of the real UI in action. Not like MS hasn't gotten enough shit this year - it's about time they fucking man up. That being said - if that is what XB1 buyers are getting day 1 - I find it very slick except the dash - a bit too cluttered IMO. But if it runs that smooth and fast on an actual XB1 - then that is pretty fucking awesome.

The UI running in the stores is slow as hell. Obviously not final. I don't think there's any reason to fight like this over unfinished UIs.

What happens when you say "Xbox, 1080p!"

I'm too sick to play the drink-every-time-someone-spouts-a-lame-meme game.

You can search for matches while you're doing other things (watching TV, in an app, playing another game, etc). Once it notifies you, you can jump right in to the game. Thats one of the big features of the Xbox One.

So you're saying you can have two games running at the same time?

matchmaking runs in the background, you get notified when the game is ready - you launch into the game.

Was just talking about the fact that he boots up and never starts Titanfall and it finds him a match. I know the demo is faked, but I just thought that was funny. Unless it just always does matchmaking for every game you have installed.
