This is the first example I've seen where the PS4 is miles better.

bingo bingo bingo....

take a look at the shots here...which one of the three doesnt belong??...in each and every shot (except for the one getting out of the elevator where the white stripe on the couch/chairs is missing on the PS4) the PS4 is WAAAAAAY closer to what the PC version looks like....the PC looking even more "washed out" (ie: more accurate) than the PS4 in some shots...

unless we are going to argue the Xbone looks better than the PC version...

At this point in the thread, I fear some would argue that....it's maddening.

The still images are not doing the comparison justice. Seriously, watch the videos on a huge TV in motion.

Just looking at these 2 picture .gif shots people are posting, it is not representative of what the difference depicted when it's in motion.

1) Glad that BF4 performance will be pretty close to 60 FPS in both single and multiplayer.
2) Glad that there's more anti-aliasing going on in the PS4 version than what we would have seen last gen. That's the number one thing that bothers me. I hope that the eventual re masters of PS3 games will have 4x AA @ 1080P and 60 FPS.
3) Can't wait to play this on my Panny Plasma in few months (picture perfectly configured to how it should be!)
4) Killzone: SF is going to shit on any console game you see graphically for the next 6 months in graphical fidelity/perfomance (well not Ryse because Ryse will come close).

It does have crushed blacks on the footage all over the place, but they're moving different spots there(think this is around :41-44, yeah?), look at :45-48. The xbox one footage is being shrouded by something as he walks backwards and has nothing to do with the explosion. See 38 seconds for just the PS4 one to be pitch black.

Why are you focusing on this one scene when there are plenty of others showing horribly crushed blacks?

y'all should be ashamed
Any GAF experts can tell the AA BF4 is running on XBone from this pic?

I'm just shocked, GTAV doesn't look this bad on my 7 year old 360 & GTAV is jaggy as fuck.

I do know that because of the ESRAM the first two things to go out the window are framerate and more advanced anti aliasing techniques for easier parity between PS4.

I'm not sure what AA solutions the game is running though.

My Take Aways

1) PS4 clearly has a hardware advantage
2) Xbone not only lacks in resolution but also in effects
3) Despite the hype BF4 isn't exactly top tier graphics wise
4) Killzone looks a metric fuck ton better than both CoD and BF
5) I'm EXTREMELY worried about both systems seeing a game like BF4 not doing 1080p out of the gate and still having fps drops everywhere.

Doesn't EA usually have poor showings at launch?

DF had one job. Sorry, kidding, but they should have done something about that. It's unfortunate for them if they couldn't.

Thought I'd come back after the 504ing was over.

So essentially, even at 720p the XB1 version doesn't maintain frame-rate as well and doesn't match in graphical effects?

Also what's with the ultra-contrasty XB1 pictures in these comparisons?

If people say the x1 version looks better than the ps4 version then you must also be implying it looks better than the pc version. The PS4 and PC versions have the most parity visually.

Digital Foundry needs to be called out on this. This is just absolute deception.

Did any of you actually read the article or are you just blindly repeating what other's are posting?

A portion of DF's verdict:

Having moved ahead in terms of image quality, there's no doubt that Sony's new platform comes out on top overall in the performance metrics too. This is best demonstrated in matching sequences, such as a cut-scene on a Shanghai river where it commands a constant 2-4fps lead, and likewise during the tearing apart of a battleship. In terms of gameplay, the gap widens further during the cannister explosion on the Fishing in Baku stage, with a disparity at well above these numbers - the PS4 regaining 60fps much faster than the fluctuating Xbox One code. We see occasional XO wins in like-for-like testing too, but in our single-player tests, it is clearly the PS4 code that is in the ascendant.

Am i the only one whos very happy that bf4 runs 60fps on both consoles with that many players? Much much better than last gen. Very aAwesome for both parties.

People are missing this as well. It's obviously at least partially by design, but people are too caught up in how "sharp" the X1 version looks -_-

What I have learned in this thread is that it is ok for a 100 dollar more expensive console to have a lower res and framerate as long as the image is calibrated really badly.

Goddamn son lol

Sure, everyone can be happy, but when it comes down to which technically has better graphics frame rate and image quality, there can only be one.

Get out of here PC.

I wonder why the PS4 version looks clamped? Or doesn't have the super whites like on the XO version. It's most apparent in this pic, when looking at the sun.

sorry if this has already been discussed.

Otherwise, yeah XO looks more crisp, except PS4 looks much sharper or better when looking at thin lines, like electrical lines or steal beams in the distance. Obviously an advantage of the resolution bump.
Look at the ground textures. Are we 100% sure these aren't mislabeled by DF? The so called "XO" shot looks like it has much better texture detail.

same here, and the more I see, the more staggering the differences are.

I think this may be something that happens throughout the gen. You need to know what to look for but if you do, it's glaringly obvious that the differences are far bigger than they have been between PS3 and 360.

Wow, multi in this game looks so much more interesting and fun than what I watched of Killzone. I dont want two FPS at launch. Thanks for the link.

BF Multi has always been awesome IMO. I loved KZ2 multi as well, so I have no comment there.

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.

This is the craziest post I've read in this thread, PC is leagues ahead of either console.

To be honest, BF4 multiplayer doesn't look particularly great to me when compared to BF3's visuals. I'm just not seeing the generational leap forward. The only two launch games that impressed me visually are Ryse and Killzone.

Interesting design choices it seems with the two ports.

Seems like XBone is overblowing the lighting effects perhaps...maybe to make the game seem to "pop" more with lower res. The PS4 is more subtle with more smoothing effects. I'd like to hear what the devs did to each version to try and "even them up"...

38 secs PS4 is on a shadow. The gif I posted the Xbone isnt.

Atleast you accepted the crushed blacks before you continued on your meltdown.

I can't believe people think the Xbone looks ok. All that aliasing, especially in the helo scene. It looks current gen. I'm not saying the PS4 footage is pristine, but it does look much better. No more 720p games for me. They should have went with 30fps in SP so we could at least get 1080p on PS4.

1600x900 is a disappointment. My roommate plays BF4 in 1920x1080 and Ultra Settings with an HD7870 (I'm not sure about the framerate, though). It's even more so disappointing after seeing the Killzone Shadow Fall graphics in 1080p.
Let's be fair though, this is running at 60fps in SP vs 30 in Killzone.

There is also A LOT more going on in MP (dynamic maps, destruction, 64 players, etc) vs the MP in Killzone. I love Killzone but I'm only being fair.
