If this is successfully, you can bet other publisher are going to jump on this bandwagon scam of charging £30 for demos.

why make money once on a game when you get do it twice maybe three times chopping off content to make it dlc later.

Lol what? Over 20 euros for a 40 min mission? Basically a glorified demo?!

Come on, this is some bullshit.

It's not a 40-minute mission. Kojima has said that Ground Zeroes will have tons of missions and replay value, and that is why he was willing to sell it as a stand-alone thing.

My ass. It's even worse though since it's over 30 euros, just because it's on PS4 and Xbox One... versions that are running the same assets, ahahahahaha

What are you expecting though? It's an introductory mission, just like MGS2 and MGS3 prologue missions. It's exactly what they have been showing us in presentations. It's a small area. How much can they stretch that mission?

The price difference is the funniest thing ever, what a rip off.

As a huge Metal Gear fan, I still cannot decide how to feel about this.

That is very expensive for a demo, and the Phantom Pain part will probably (Obviously) be $60...

I fear that his may become a trend..

Fuck money worries, it's new MGS! Into my artificially enhanced veins!!

On a serious note, I'd wait and see how limited the content really is. Kojima usually packs his areas with things to do, and this is supposed to showcase the possibilities open to the franchise by going open world.

When MGS 2 needed to present vastly overhauled tech, mechanics, controls and moves, it used the Tanker area beautifully.

Just remaining cautiously optimistic.

Maybe there testing if they can get way with pricing more for PS4 and Xbone games...
Wait..the way I see it is priced exactly like the Super Luigi DLC - 19.99 for digital and 29.99 for a disc.

Oh
....that's only for current gen. Well...huh. That's silly..

Well, think of it this way guys. Journey was 15 bucks on PSN, and 30 bucks at retail. Ground Zeroes is just going to be a little more, and it's a big open world MGS experience! Loooool.

At least the retail Journey version had 5 games. EDIT: And yes, I know you're trolling too!

It's not a 40-minute mission. Kojima has said that Ground Zeroes will have tons of missions and replay value, and that is why he was willing to sell it as a stand-alone thing.

"tons of missions" is basically the same map with slightly different objectives, e.g. random prisoner extraction.

Tons of missions?

“charts a rescue mission as users infiltrate a Cuban prison camp, and sets in motion a series of events that culminate in the stunning plotlines of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.”

It's exactly the demo they have been showing in presentations.

Kojima knows how loyal us MGS fans are. Will buy 2 copies. PS3 Boxed for my collection, PS4 digital to play.

I am part of the problem.
Lol me too man :-(
Will the Phantom Pain include Ground Zeroes though? I'm tempted to just get GZ on PS3 and TPP on PS4 later if it also includes GZ.

That next-gen tax is disgusting. If it's just 3-4 hours or something I am not going to get this anyway. I am a huge MGS fan but this is bad. Once the real game comes around I bet I get this for free on PS+ or for super cheap.

Think of GZ as MGSV's tanker mission.

Okay, but the tanker mission wasn't cut out of the main game and sold for $20-30...

Also, for those comparing it to DR2 Case Zero, that was only $5. This is four to six times the price!

Ultimately, if this is a stripped content from the main game or an overpriced demo, there's no defending it. Unless this is a sizeable amount of content on it's own, and the 'main' release isn't piecemealed because of this, then we're getting one pulled over on us!

I suspect that when Phantom Pain comes around, they'll offer a discounted upgrade for those who have Ground Zeroes, and also include Ground Zeroes in the Phantom Pain package.

£30 for a chunk of a game, man! That's just shy of 50$ right?

Hah. Going to need a lot more info on exactly what Ground Zeroes is because from picking up bits of info here and there it sounds a bit like an equivalent to the Tanker section of MGS2. And that makes me incredibly wary of this.

Also isn't the next-gen version just basically a 1080p version? Assets the same etc? Not really understanding the premium there.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Tempting to grab it on PS3, but I'll pass. Not getting a PS4 or Xbone any time in the near future, so I might have to pull a Metal Gear Solid 4, wherein I wait until I do get the system in a few years before I play. By then The Phantom Pain should be out, which I assume will be bundled with Ground Zeroes, at least optionally.

Alternatively a PC version will come along. But KojiPro seems pretty wishy washy on whether or not that's actually happening, so I might have to hold out.

Well in the past, he has said that Ground Zeroes would have a lot of replay value and Mother Base would be upgradeable. He didn't really elaborate, but I remember his saying this.

Takes a lot of resources to increase the resolution and the framerate and the aa apparently. You know, things that normally come for free in PC games. Imagine if you had to pay 10$ every time you wanted to bump up the settings.

Hell I wonder how much will the PC version cost in the end, 60 euros? I mean you can increase the resolution even higher there, and have better AA and 120fps, that doesn't come cheap!!!!

This is gonna be the DLC abuse of next gen. Here, enjoy the prologue of The Last of Us 2 for $60 (Australia) and buy the full game for $120 when it comes out!

Wouldn't help me because I don't intend to buy any retail title digitally. If this prequel thing would have a retail version for PS4 I would think about it. Then at least I could get rid of it if it sucks or is just super short.

No boxed next gen version, 10£ more expensive.

WTF Kojima?
Well, I suppose I will not support it.
Maybe I will buy the inevitable "Complete Edition" do MGSV for cheap in the future, maybe.

Tales from his ass.

It only works when the person didn't say it first. But keep hoping that somehow this is going to be a 3 hour long mission, in that single map that they've been showing. I guess putting in 2 hours of cutscenes isn't out of the question. Or maybe just a ton of filler that is completely unrelated to the mission itself.

"digital versions will cost £19.99., while PS4 and Xbox One digital versions come in at £29.99"

lol, kojima can fuck right off. absolutely no justified reason for a digital version of a game to cost more then the current gen digital version.

guess i'll just not bother with this and wait for the actual game.

A £30 tutorial.

We have reached a new low. In a few years time it will cost £5 to get an options menu, only it will be marketed as a 'user flexibility upgrade'.
