If it makes them money, here's hoping they get the FIFA or NHL guys to make Live 15.

I just don't get what they were doing all those years off.

They brought over the guy who helped turn the NHL series around(after Live '10's release.)

What we got were two cancelled games.

dumb question
why hasn't EA locked up the NBA license yet?

they have FIFA and NFL

NBA doesn't want one company making their games. Crazy, right?!

EA really comes off as a cheap company, Madden, NBA LIVE, hasn't impressed in generations.

Madden and LIVE are both done by Tiburon in Florida. Something is majorly wrong with this studio.. they are so stagnant it's sickening. There's been no investment or contribution to their gaming world. The FIFA team came up with true step, and the NHL team came up with the physics "infinity" engine which is also quite good. I'm sorry, but Tiburon needs to be delegated to mobile games only and let a real team handle some next gen stuff.

I saw a stream on the ps4 yesterday where a guy was swearing that live was a far superior game and anyone who like 2k was brainwashed.

He was streaming straight from the ps4.

Once Sony and Microsoft gave everyone the ability to stream, this was bound to happen.

I just don't get what they were doing all those years off.

It was must last September that they announced cancelling NBA Live 13 to give it more time in development. Which was probably only a year and a half's worth of development after canning NBA Elite and that dev team and starting over from scratch.

That was likely on 360/PS3, so they took whatever they were making and when it was decided to go next-gen only they had to convert it all to the new platforms. Which they probably only spent 10-12 months on at most given devkit availability and lead time for testing/cert/manufacturing/shipping.

In other words, an inevitable mess.

EA UFC seems to be the real deal since they are going from scratch, at least I hope so. Unless that Gamescom footage is fake like the Ignite Madden stuff they showed off :(

NBA refuses to deal in exclusive licenses and apparently MLB is done with doing that as well. The NFL likes people rolling up dump trucks of money to their yard, so they're willing to sell off their brand. There was a Reddit AMA not too long ago with someone from the NFLPA and he basically told people to get used to only EA NFL games because they aren't breaking off that relationship.

EA's version is clearly worse this year than 2k's version. But that doesn't resolve 2k from releasing a barebones version of it own game. Outside of the actual gameplay, the menu is a mess, and core features have been removed from last year's version. As someone who buys 2k on the pc as well, I'm curious to see what sort of moves EA will make there. 2k has made terrible pc ports so far of their games, with next to no patches, and basically constant crashes.

EA has some of the worst modelers around. How you make the most iconic player in the NBA look absolutely unrecognizable is flabbergasting to me. Although it shouldn't be. The Madden games have had shit models since....forever.

The worst part of all this is that FIFA, Madden, and Live are all running on their next-gen engine, so it's not like they just took their 360 and PS3 stuff and upped the resolution (even though it looks exactly like that's what they did). I hope NHL 15 turns out different but I'm starting to doubt it.

Different team. NHL 15 will look phenomenal if the leap is even half of that of the leap from 06 to 07.

Looking at that, it looks like the game need another year in the oven.. The Muscle tone on the shoulder does look nice in the NBA live screen, but still needed some serious cooking. That lighting, and shading is HORRIBLE

I wouldn't say they're starting from scratch. From what I've seen, the animations are recycled from EA MMA. I'm waiting to see what else they've repurposed from that game.

Hahaha, that's shameful. I wonder if anyone will get suckered into buying this. Guess we know what's coming down the road for PS+.

EA Sports threads sure do bring in some gamers who don't play these games to voice how shitty they are, or how 2K pisses excellence. It is laughable. Madden is solid this year on next gen, as is FIFA. Not sure what you guys were expecting, honestly.

We were expecting complete shit, I guess. Mission accomplished.
