I feel this image in a teaser implies Sony is getting Crash back

Knack plays like Crash Bandicoot did - do you all really want more of that?

Considering I beat Knack just a couple days ago... No it definitely doesn't play anything like Crash.

Knack is not even half the game Crash 3 was imo.

Knack plays like Crash of the Titans (with a more shallow combat system, apparently).

We want a new classic Crash, at this point
though I was totally down for more Radical goodness or a Twinsanity successor

Crash was a Sony IP for 3 years and a multiplatform IP for 14 years. I guess it could be neat to see him back at Sony but it's like Sonic now. He has spent more time as a multiplatform IP than he did as a Sega only one at this point.

Da fuq? Knack plays like garbo, if Cerny wanted to make a crash clone he should have straight up ripped it off. The name should have been Krash and The Loot or something. Knack is nothing like crash. Crash had platforming, knack is mostly walking around killing enemies.

Yea but the games were so much better under Naughty Dog's direction.

Please do not let me serve on a jury. I am actually a crazy person.

Being honest, we're talking to a nearly unattainable standard there.
Crash 3 was the best Crash, and on that right, a good contender for GOTG.
Knack is just a launch game, and nothing should have it's comparisons set to one of the greatest games of all times out-of-the-box, with the added bonus of everyone's view of said game being covered in two-inch-thick rose-tinted nostalgia glasses.

If they changed the art style drastically would that still be interesting to you? I feel like many of the franchises that change their art style in a big way usually end up with a bad initial reception.

I would, as long as it doesn't look like Skylanders or whatever the hell Naughty Dog was thinking of doing with Jak

Damn all you people that never gave Radical's Crash games a chance

To this day I can't figure out if Crash Bandicoot was meant to satirize the whole fad of 90s "extreme" cartoon mascots with attitude, or was in fact its worst exemplar.

Why do people keep saying this? There was nothing "extreme" about Crash. I bet half of these statements come from people who never played the series or only played it briefly.

Considering how low on popularity Crash is today, how much would buying the Crash IP cost Sony? $1 million? $10 million? If anything, Sony should buy it and give it to ND, considering how much money they made with Uncharted and TLOU. IIRC, Evan Wells mentioned that seeing Crash being whored out was like seeing your daughter doing cocaine or porn or something like that.

It is 100% Crash.

On the European YouTube channel there is an interactive version of the video where you click spots on the video when you spot PlayStation references and it tells you a little bit about the reference. And it is indeed Crash.

There are also references to Silent Hill, Resistance, Parapa and GT and Street Fighter. So not too sure if the references are teases for upcoming titles or not.

Thanks for sharing about this interactive version, I will check it out. The Crash sign had too much connotation with the arrow and SCE logo to simply ignore it as a little throwback.

Parappa rumours also exist so then it makes us think these aren't just throwbacks. There was a reference to Final Fantasy with Cid's barbershop (a possible Cloud looking dude). I can't see why they would include them in an advert about new games if they weren't brewing something. I SO WANT TO BELIEVE.

What makes it super weird is how the video overwhelmingly referenced first party titles except for Crash and Street Fighter. Possibly FF too if you consider it as a reference to the franchise in general and not just to FFVII.

Anyone find it really telling that the marketing is so in tune with the corporate gaming culture and scene that they can put all these in-jokes, references, etc?

Anyway, to be honest, I never got into the Crash games, so I never really considered it an important part of the Playstation community.

That said, the PS4 could always use more games, especially non shooters like platformers. If they get a good team behind it and look at other successful modern platformers, it could be great.

That said, what would you guys think of making it 4 player, local and online? Or would you guys want a new crash to be firmly focused on a single character (or duo) like Jak/Ratchet?

Thing is, with the Wii U having so many great 4 player local games, I think not having a good platformer of the same quality and style is a missed opportunity. It would be a trump card against MS which will probably not have any exclusives like that.

I honestly don't really want this. I never liked Crash (as a character) and was never hugely into his games.

We don't own Crash guys, Activision does.Sorry!

That kinda broke my heart but thanks for the clarification.
Could you please talk to Yoshida, Cerny or someone else about this topic? Crash is the reason I became a fan of Playstation back then and it would be amazing to see him having a comeback on the PS4.

I want to remind you that this is a bandicoot in a leather jacket and sunglasses, riding a motorcycle with his kid sister, holding a bazooka that shoots FRUIT.

That's goofy, not extreme.

Crash there is the definition of a rad, extreme dude. So 90s. :D

Is that Adam Boyes?

I'm actually a bit surprised that Crash is so well loved here. I never really liked it that much. Awefull looking character, pretty boring gameplay (compared to games like Mario) and not that great controls. Though i must admit i didn't play all of the Crash games.

What Crash game is considered to be the best?

It's more nostalgia than anything else really.

2 and 3. They're excellent and still hold up today. Crash Team Racing is also the best Mario Kart clone ever.
