Be still my beating heart! I can't allow myself to have any hope, I just can't. The pain if nothing happens........ :(

So when is this supposed to take place?

Sunday, according to SEGA's blog:

NYC Comic Con Panel Event, Join Us & Win Merch!
Are you attending this year’s New York Comic Con? Join us as we host an exciting and informative panel discussion with Masayoshi Kikuchi-san, the Executive Producer of the Yakuza/Ryu ga gotoku series, planner of the Panzer Dragoon series, and director of Jet Set Radio.

Panel Details

Recreating an Icon: The Talent Behind Sonic Mobile Games & Top SEGA Franchises
Date: 10/13/2013
Time: 11 AM – 12 PM EST
Location: 1A10

For more info, visit our NYC Comic Con event listing here

Again, if anyone can go and ask about either Yakuza 5/Valkyria Chronicles 3/PSO2, that'd be great.

Would love for them to release the games again on PS4. Come to think of it, I never finished 4.
And yes, pretty much all they need to add is subs.

*sigh* Why do I still hope?

With Nagoshi himself saying that there are no plans to start on localization programming so recently I really doubt we're going to get something out of this anyway.
The only chance is that @giocorsi contacted SEGA and they signed out a deal recently, and probably Nagoshi wasn't aware of it. But I can hardly see that happening.

I hope people attending the panel bombard him with Yakuza 5 questions.

I just want to point this out--the panel is primarily about the transition of console/handheld IPs to mobile.

Hardlight Studio and SEGA bring together some of the talented development team members from various backgrounds who worked on such iconic franchises as Jet Set Radio, SEGA Rally and Typing of the Dead over the years. The discussion will dive deep into their roles, responsibilities and perspectives on recreating Sonic and other legacy brands for the mobile generation and experiences in bringing console franchises to the mobile world. An audience Q&A will follow the panel.

I don't want us to get our hopes up just yet, considering what's known about the purpose of the panel. But with the Q&A following afterwards, I would totally support someone asking questions like "pls localize yakuza and valkyria and all of it?" even if it's very loosely relevant at best and might even have done so myself, were I able to go. Of course, I wouldn't phrase it in that way...

Honestly, I hope Masayoshi Kikuchi is wandering around and a few people go up to him and are like " ;_; Yakuza 5 pls" I remember going up to Ryota Niitsuma and Seth Killian the two times I went to NYCC, to both chat and ask about game stuff.

Not that I have good news exactly, but @giocorsi recently tweeted that he's concluded the Building of the List. We should expect some sort of follow-up in the future, however distant that may be. Yakuza 5 was definitely one of the top mentions, and I think that at the very least, someone from the gaming media will ask a stray question to these guys about Yakuza 5/what titles they're working on, so we could learn more about their plans then. Either that, or these guys respond to a stray tweet and give us some table scraps to be sate our anxiety.

Thanks for all the great suggestions folks! Now lets make some games! #BuildingTheList #PlayStation #PS3 #PS4 #Vita

bootleg style of tweet quoting, because sadly I'm a doofus who doesn't know how people post the tweets themselves.

Brush up on your SEGA trivia knowledge as you’ll need it for your chance to win one of the most prized, ultra-rare SEGA Saturn games produced by Kikuchi-san, Panzer Dragoon Saga *sealed, never opened*, and a chance to win a signed, new-in-box Dreamcast!

A sealed copy of Saga? That's $600+ easy.

To all the people who are going to the panel, make some noise about Yakuza 5 localization, let them know we want it, let them know a digital release is ok (see Drakengard 3), whatever it takes.

make some noise for Valkyria Chronicles 3 aswell, I'd like to see both come over.

Anyways, they've got to be pulling some hard questions if someone wants to win that copy of PDS.

Assuming the panel has ended...
well sadly not much was said about Yakuza 5 other than
Einhorn expresses his love for the Yakuza series, but cannot speak more on Yakuza 5 beyond that they are listening to the fans.

Come on, you've been listening long enough, you got lots of moola from Puyo Puyo Quest, dump that cash into the localization!

Sega, you sons of bitches, just release it over here for fuck sake. Stop toying with my emotions, I need Y5 and Ishin in my life...I need them.

You guys, it's time to let this go. The Shenmue fans are going to start laughing at us soon.

I'm still holding out for Shenmue 3. At worst I could take time and learn Japanese and play Yakuza 5 and future releases. Not so easy for new Shenmue. :(

I'd setlle for some Puyo Puyo localization even. Today's Sega only seems interested in bringing over Sonic games and almost nothing else.

One game actually exists though, the other is nothing more than the fevered hopes and dreams of madmen. (me being one of them)

Anyway, all we're asking for is a translation of a game that already exists. Hell, they could do what another publisher is doing as ask people to pay for the game upfront and then do the translation when they hit a certain amount of interest/money.

Why won't SEGA put this series on Steam? They would make a few bucks.

For obvious reasons. 90% of the fanbase is in Japan, where the PC market is nonexistent, so the costs of porting to PC wouldn't be worth it to them. Same thing goes with the 360 and Wii U.

Also, if they went multiplatform there's no way Sony would ever help them localise it and at this point, that's what we're hoping for.

Yeah it seems like people asked questions besides just mobile stuff--something more akin to Sega in general and not just mobile. Which is neat.

Oh, interesting. I'll use this if I get stuck playing the Japanese version next year.

You'll be fine without it dude. The only time you'll absolutely want to use it is for 100%'ing the game.... if you even plan to do that.

I only know Hiragana and Katakana and I beat the game without any walkthrough and still got what was basically happening in the story. I wouldn't worry about it. ;)

In the interest of making noise, occasions of which to do so aren't that high, I'd like to post this:

http://www.segalization.com/
https://www.change.org/petitions/sega-corporation-please-localize-your-games

It's a fan campaign designed to collect petition signatures for Sega to localize a bunch of their Japanese games, like Valkyria Chronicles 3, Yakuza Ishin and Yakuza 5, and Phantasy Star Online 2, to name a few. There are some profile pages that offer a surface level look at various games, some tidbits on localization status, and links to fansites or important interviews. The site plans later on to add new features like a forum and article posting.

It's a small gesture, but sign the petition! Collectively, we might make a difference, and it doesn't take all that much time anyway.

I'm up for it, why not give it a shot? count me in.

Maybe Sony could localise Ishin since after all they could release it as a PS4 exclusive in the West. But 5 doesn't have any sense or usefulness for them.

The PS3 is still an active platform for the time being, so why can't another exclusive be useful for them?

Pleasing fans might be reason enough? I remember reading an interview where they mentioned they were creating a team that could work with publishers to help localise games.. something about pleasing small pockets of fans or something? Maybe it was just a dream I had.
