Xenoblade in stock at many Gamestops for $90. Was it reprinted? Who knows!

Bumped this old thread as I was reading it while in bed.

3 months later:

Game is now 60 but 40 due to the black Friday sale. Seems that they re printed a ton of these or no one was buying them at 90usd

can I buy online?? and have it shipped to my relatives in Texas?

Are there no DD games on Wii? Is it simply impossible to do this for the system? With this game selling for like $90 with Ninty and the Dev probably only getting the same cut that typical $50 Wii games get, you'd think Nintendo and the pub would see this as a golden opportunity to put this in the eShop for $50.

There was a size cap on the shop itself.

Maybe they could somehow distribute it as a WiiWare through the Wii U shop, but it currently can't support WiiWare.

Ya, it's shadier now. I originally thought the re-print would be fairly small (say 10-20k copies), but the fact that they have had continuous stock for so long says otherwise.

I really wish we could see sales figures for Xenoblade in North America at this point.

Could've picked it up yesterday for 40 but decided not to as GameStop continues to artificially inflate the price of used copies they have a decent amount of.

I was a store manager at EB Games (now merged with Gamestop) for 5 years and the stories of what we were forced to do to sell things would curl your toes.

We were forced to tell people Enter the Matrix was a good game. I know I have a special place in hell for that one.

Yesterday I was very tempted to buy this, and I don't even have a Wii. In the end I decided not to because if I did it would simply look at me and make me spend $60 right now on a Wii when I really don't need to spend it at the moment...

So is $67.18 US total good for used Gamestop Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade Chronicles? What are the chances I'll actually end up with a box, not the original but their repackaged boxes? I'm kind of hoping I don't get stuck with just the discs.

You'll get more than just the disc but don't count on the special metroid packaging.

This is purely from observation.

Going to (have my parents) bite at the $70 tag because I was at Disney yesterday and wasn't able to pick it up at $40. It's going to be a Christmas present in that case.

Was wondering this when I had the 39.99 chance to order a copy of Xeno on Gamestop dot com yesterday. Ended up biting. Here's hoping I get a box.

Well it sound like Xenoblade should come with one because it says Gamestop exclusive which I would assume means the repackage they did but it does not say anything for the Metroid Prime trilogy.

Also, enter SAVER in the promo box to get free shipping.

Can't remember if I posted this before, but PAL Xenoblade seems to have been reprinted too. No "pre owned" BS though, just brand new copies readily available in good supply at a good price at many different retailers.

I don't see a reason why Nintendo shouldn't at LEAST put Xenoblade on Wii U eShop, let alone give an HD rerelease. I just don't see any benefits to keeping it out of the hands of willing buyers.

theme came on my iTunes shuffle the other day. First thought was "Whelp, looks like I'm going to have to play this game again". It's too good.

You're guaranteed both for the most part.

The MPT comes in completely different packaging than the original release. The original was a steelbook while the ones at GS are in a standard case with standard Wii cover art.

Expecting them to do anything rational or modern with their online approach lol

Just for comparison:

Original release of MPT:

Gamestop reprint:

If your GS happens to have one of the steelbooks (which they sell at the same price), definitely pick one of those up instead of the reprint.

I have both... but in the future the reprint will be worth more to collectors since there is physically less of them then the steelbook edition. Even rarer would be a sealed copy of the reprint, since gamestop had them made unsealed or opened them at the warehouse.

It depends. It'll definitely be rarer but we don't know if it'll be worth more money.

If anything they killed the collectors who were artificially raising the price. Looks like the demand for this game isn't so big after all.

They would have to port it, it won't play on WiiU so they can't put it on that shop. The most they could do is put it on the Wii shop and they probably won't because of how big that file size would be and it's a dead shop.

There would be no such thing as a sealed reprint they were never sealed to begin with.

Count me as someone who bought one yesterday that was in complete virgin condition. Even the club Nintendo code worked. The disc looks like it was never even touched.

Dude who works at my Gamestop said he opened it in the store himself and slapped the sticker on it, don't know if its the same with everyone else. Club Nintendo was unused of course.

I worked as a game advisor and I would personally tell someone if they bought royal crap. I know that feeling. Garbage has to make a profit too. Since then it's been weird talking to them. They give me advice I already know and a vast majority of GameStops treat PC games terrible. I ignore going in. I'm keeping my copy. I found the Metroid Triology and Xenoblade at a small town GameStop.

$39.99 isn't bad. Just buy it now or wait for an HD release. I bought mine at launch.

Is the reprint supposed to have CN codes? My GS had 4 reprinted MPTs and none had CN codes.

I picked the game up yesterday. The copy they had on their shelves was nasty looking and beat up. When I checked out I was given a shiny new looking white box and a clean instruction manual and club nintendo code. The metroid trilogy case on the shelf was a steel book, but I don't know if they had white boxes under their counter.

Back when the game came out I was too busy to play it. When I was less busy they were all sold out and selling for over $100 online. Now I can play it... But later though because I'm busy again.

Also, the people who work at the Gamestop I went to were really nice and not pushy, but the other customers were just awful. One guy was yelling at lady over the phone because Battlefield was glitching out. Another guy both belched and farted in line and it smelled awful. Plus the same guy was loudly talking about how he hooked up with a nasty lady, but not the nastiest one he's been with. The pregnant looking lady he was with knocked over a display that hit my partner in the leg.

Sorry, I had to vent that out somewhere. A lot if the time I feel like stores that get a bad rep get that because of their awful customers. Still, the company policy on selling Xenoblade at an inflated price is just nonsense.

How many people here found the steel book version in store?

I did, but it was a couple Christmas's ago though. I got the complete package but used. The slip cover was kinda scuffed up, but cleaned it best I could. The steelbook had a couple hair line scratches, but other than that its in pretty good shape. Only spent $65 on it. Don't think you can buy this sealed, well if you could it would be on eBay and for triple this amount. lol

May buy it now but I don't have a Wii or Wii u. Heard so many good things about this.

Is the inevitable HD release coming?
