I'm having a great time with Knack. If Mario taking a dive means the chances of a Knack sequel increase, I'm cool with it.

Mario can afford to be a slow-burner, and Knack likely needs the sales.

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls popular you say? Those games were low-cost and inside their niche market they sold really well, which means that outside a few games this kind of gameplay formula is dead.

How many titles have you seen with that gameplay outside those of the "souls" saga?
The most resembling one is maybe ZombiU (although ZombiU is more of a survival) and that's it.

How many FPS are released every month? There you have your answer.

And do not forget that not all pre-orders have been satisfied ... many are waiting for the second wave of PS4!

I had read that in the UK there were pre-orders for 4 times the sales of the PS3 at launch, in 2007! So, about 600k!

PS4 will then other large numbers in the coming weeks and months! :)

Oh god not another allusion to Crash Bandicoot. It's nothing like it. The criticism for the game is about the game being on a track and a God of War lite. It probably would've scored better if it HAD followed the formula of PS1 platformers.

Honestly if the PS4 sold 10-12 million in Japan I would consider that a great accomplishment. It will have some heavy hitters like Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts and the occasional Gundam game, but it will also likely have some dry spells and the system is very much designed towards western sensibilities.

Knack is a wonderful surprise, good game in all. Nintendo is only hurting their own IPs. Mario and the bunch deserve better.

From a PR standpoint he is certainly doing a better job but I still don't think he is great even in that role since he has said plenty of confusing things as well. To get back on track they need someone like J again.

None. MS still have a few cards left to play, they could drop the price in the new year or add some more value to the current package. One or more free game downloads along with a 6 month subscription to Gold, etc.

A hard price cut would be the best way to get some momentum behind it in the new year though...

Have you seen how much their components costs? Even without Kinect, the PS4 is about $20 less to build than the XB1.

Someone fucked up MASSIVELY at MS.

Given Knack was bundled, it still sold okay for what it is IMO.
People must understand that launch hype is part of game's overall value.
Game never stands by its own value like level design and play-ability alone anymore.

He didn't say it feels like Crash Bandicoot at all. He simply said it feels like a PS1 game

Playstation's synominous with gaming in the UK.

The top three selling games were CoD, FIFA, BF4.

Why anyone doesn't expect or see this coming is beyond me.

By then Capcom, and SE will have converted to mobile only publishers, so even if it does well in Japan there still wont be any Japanese games :p

10-12 million would pretty much be right in the ball park of what the PS3 sold, so I wouldn't be surprised if it sold that many units, plus it is launching at a lower price point(¥39,980 compared to the PS3s ¥59,800) so it might do pretty well in Japan.

There are currently 2500 for sale on Ebay UK. I've been watching every day since launch day and I guess about 10% of sold PS4s have been resold through Ebay. It'll keep growing too until shops restock.

It's a long generation and this is just the launch. Sony are in a great posisition but Microsoft are going to be learning and I think they'll come back very strong. So I think MS will still take NA and the UK.

I haven't, but that's very surprising news. I thought for sure MS would have more room to cut the price faster than Sony. Damn, someone really did fuck up over at the MS.

Still, they slashed the price of the OG Xbox pretty damn quickly and they probably had a lot less wiggle room there, so it's really anyone's guess what MS will do in the new year.

Pack ins of first party games and gold subs seems to be the best way to add value and not have to cost too much.

They are selling what is available, its sold out... Not directed at you but how is people not getting this :)

300k Available, apparently 50k arrived late so likely sold too... GAME has pre-orders Phase 2 and Phase 3, still to sell before XMas, Amazon and shoptoUK have back orders...

Every PS4 available is being sold.. 300k Is a big enough for first wave, the rest of Europe also has a big figure likely.

I would say UK gamers have bad taste, but Knack debued at 13. That's not great anyway.

Just goes to show there like zero Nintendo fans over there.
