No because it's not a platformer. It's not a very deep game either but it is difficult and requires some decent dodging, timing and studying the different attacks of enemies since on Hard most can and will kill you in a single hit.

Fair enough. Yes on GiantBomb's Quicklook it looked mighty challenging.

It's definitely not for me then, I really dislike that style of gameplay as I said.

You could remove UK from the title and anyone could have guess the region.

Didn't the X1 outsell the Wii U as well over there? this certainly means trouble for Nintendo in Europe but globally is another story, if the previous record was held by the PSP you know what kind of market they have over there.

It really wasn't. The fundamental core aspects of the game were not achievable on PS2, Xbox or GameCube.
Sorry but I couldn't disagree more. I've played tons of hours with Demon's souls, which aspect of it's core gameplay wasn't possible on the past generation of consoles may I ask?

Yep, X1 outsold it as well. On the game side of things, wonderful titles like Just Dance 2014 absolutely crushed 3D World.

New IP and large install bases across several platforms should be invigorating instead of pumping out Halo after Halo.

I have high hopes and lots of interest in what I've seen. One thing Bungie is good at is shooters and this looks like it's going to be pretty epic. Outside of Drive Club and Infamous, this is the only other next gen game I have pre-ordered. Most of my Q1 2014 eggs are in the awesome indies coming to PS4 so no dry spell for PS4.
He also said that Ryse was better than SM3DW, you can safely ignore him.

I still find it funny how a country with 60 million people, gets so much attention, just because they have collectively shunned Nintendo for over 20 years. Yet other and larger countries, such as Germany and France, where Nintendo fares quite a bit better, never (or rarely) get their own threads. I wonder why that is. Does anybody know?
There's a thread about this because there's news about this.

There was a thread about French sales the other day. The Wii U has sold 175K through mid-November. So not faring any better than the UK.

German sales were posted in the PAL charts thread a while back. 160K through end of September. So not faring any better than the UK.

If sufficient quantity has been supplied to France and Germany then in all likelihood the PS4 has outsold the Wii U in those countries in a single weekend as well, which isn't in the grand scheme that spectacular since the latter's sales are horrible.

No offense but, if you wanted a Wii in NA, the only way to get it at first was to get it with Wii Sports bundled...

No offence, but did you have a point? If it's fair for Knack, it's fair for Wii Sports, and I certainly don't consider Wii Sports sales figures that include bundled titles to be comparable to those of a standalone game.

Knack could have done with more platforming sections IMO. The brawler side was fine, easy to get to grips with, and on hard mode it does require a decent amount of skill and timing. Otherwise it does just feel like running through a corridor and repeating the same combination of hits and dodges depending on the enemy. Having more platforming could have made it into a top tier game.

I enjoy it for what it is, but I do think it could have been better with good level design and platforming. The brawling mechanics are fine for me though, reminiscent of PS1 titles.

Yeah, but Reach was bad. People may remember that. Destiny will be huge, IF it is good. Which it may not be, given Bungie's track record as of late.

Playstation exclusive owners will buy it in droves. Even more so now that Titanfall is an Xbox exclusive. Activision/Bungie will take advantage of that and these last Sony exclusivity deals are just a sign of that. And this early advantage of PS4 in terms of next generation consoles sales will further increase its adoption/sales.

Destiny is going to be bigger than Titanfall. It's on PS3 and PS4.

You are assuming Destiny will be good. Remember Reach.

But we can say the same thing about Titanfall- remember MW2?

But seriously, Destiny is going to be the larger game release, period. Activision won't let anything other than CoD be bigger than this game next year. Titanfall may have greater sales on the Xbox platform, but the PS4 edition of Destiny will be huge- don't discount it.

If anyone needs to accept reality it's the people celebrating Nintendo's struggles and promoting further danger. There are going to be some major regrets if Nintendo gets driven out of this industry and there is no around this time to pick up the pieces when the inevitable crash comes from less visionary companies becoming too popular too quickly through sheer marketing and advertising saturation without establishing an undergirding philosophy that creates the superstructure of a sustainable gaming marketplace.

Even though no one then will admit their past role in the whole affair coming into existence after reality reasserts itself. Ignorant circle jerks by deniers won't do anything to halt the runaway market failure "modern" gaming has created.

?

what nonsense.

there's so many reasons why wiiU is bombing. market confusion on the brand. tablets. mobile gaming, wii fatigue, droughts, expensive last genny tech

the demand for PS4 shows that gamers want tech and they are happy to leave last gen behind.

I couldn't post for months but oh, all the threads about xboxone and ps4 bombing because wiiU showed gaming is dead... well.

I don't know if those people really exist - everyone had both consoles last gen.

Likely so, if it Destiny is good. Which I suspect it might not be.

Halo Reach was a contractual turnaround. Bungie made it to satisfy pre-existing contractual obligations to Microsoft. It is clear that they didn't give a shit about it.

Laugh it up now, but just wait until bayonetta 2 and X.

I'll be laughing twice as hard if it means picking up these games with a Wii-U in a 99€ firesale.

Seriously bro, those two games have less mainstream appeal than anything out there. Great games? Possibly. System sellers? Heh.

(Yes I know you were probably sarcastic)

UK has never been a strong market for Nintendo. Couple that with a failed console launch and you have a dead Wii U.

The difference is that MW2 was a phenomenal game kinda fucked up by the luck of the draw (it being the big game out when JTAG happened)

If it is good. You get that, right? You agree it has to actually be good, which may well not happening seeing as bad/broken Reach was. If Bungie couldn't pump out a standard shooter what makes you think they can do this MMO hybrid thing?

You are way underestimating the size of the playstation exclusive audience. There's no way to know for certain and I won't go into anecdotal or personal experience, but I can be sure that not everyone had both consoles.

This strikes me as pretty clearly false. The level of care that went into Reach is as high as Halo 3, if not higher given that they totally overhauled major aspects of the game engine for the first time since Halo 2.

I agree. The industry has gotten too big and too expensive, and it needs to scale back. The problem is, Sony and MS platforms trade in premium products, so they can't do this. Instead, developers are going to ramp up DLC/F2P/microtransactions to offset rising costs and used game losses. It's just not going to work in the long run. The bubble may burst.

Funny. It's probably my favorite current gen Halo and miles better than 4.

As for X and Bayo 2, no they probably won't make a dent in the charts, but they're gonna be tremendous games. If only more people would have an eye for quality.

I didn't like Reach when I first played it and didn't finish it. Then before 4 came out i went back and holy shit reach became one of my favorite Halos.

I'm not cheering for Nintendo fall and I personally do think they are needed in the industry. But if they fall (I don't believe they will, they just readjust their business) it's from their own missteps and faults. A sustainable gaming marketplace doesn't need Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony. PC as an open platform is the backbone that sustains the whole industry.
