Spike VGX 2013 |OT| DON'T BE CRANKY [Over]

I think the one thing that made me hate this year's show is Joel totally disrespected the guy who was talking about No Man's Sky. His "joke" was so down right rude. I think this whole show would've been better without Joel's unnecessary jokes and terrible sarcasm.

Yeah I agree, having Joel was cringe worthy at some points. I mean he couldn't have looked more uncomfortable at times.

I honestly would have been happier if it was just all Geoff Keighley. Say what you will of him, at least he's an organized host.

That's his comedic style. He hosts a show(The Soup) where all he does for 30 minutes is make fun of people and reality tv. It's also the style of comedy he uses on Community. The problem is he knew nothing about the subject at hand so he had really nothing to play off and he obviously didn't want to read the bullshit off the cards they were making him read. Don't blame him for his comedic style. Blame Spike for hiring Joel as the co-host.

For a rebranding of the show, this was just terrible. The only reason I watched was that, in case it was good, they could see me as one more digit and say "hey, we should do it even bigger next year!"

This was worse then the PS4 launch event. Goddamn it GameTrailers.

If it helps I don't consider all this electronic shit where you sit behind a computer and flip some switches music either. It's not a racial thing and you can try harder then using it as a crutch to defend something you like.

and no I didn't like that wailing that came on last either. I guess I'm not doing my duties as a white guy by saying that though.

Music is music whether it pleases you or not

I'm not sure why people are so bothered by this show. I thought it was somewhat tolerable until the musical number. I'm not saying it was good, but it's most definitely been worse in the past.

Also, Sony really needs to show some exclusive PS4 games for fucks sake. I've been banging this drum for months now, and I was told to wait for Gamescom, and then I was told to wait for TGS, and then I was told to wait for the VGAs. Whelp.

Some of you are gonna need therapy when this game actually comes out and is amazing.

Wait for E3. :)

"It's okay black people, I hate some white music as well!" :p

Derrick, I like you dude, but you are not exactly helping your point.

So why was the Benz there? Did they talk about GT6?

Geoff talked about Gran Turismo as an introduction to a teaser for some Teen Wolf show on Mtv or something. It was probably the most absurd correlation in the entire show.

So because Macklemore is pro gay, all the other Mainstream rappers like Nas, Jay-z, Mos Def, say nonsense?

Not saying he is right, but I don't think it is a racist thing to say.

It basically sounds like he doesn't like rap in general and Macklemore simply has a popular song with a positive message that has reached a much wider audience.

Also sounds like you haven't turned on the radio in awhile if Nas and Mos Def make it into your list of mainstream artists.

To the people defending the hipster-gangstas that were up on the stage embarrassing humanity... you have no clue what hip hop is/used to be.

It's okay Derrick01, hating hip-hop, sampling, and electronic music isn't racist.

It's just the whitest opinion in the world.

right, it can't be that a predominantly black genre being entirely dismissed as "not music" is the kind've ignorance with historic ties to such ugliness, must be something more pleasant

OK let's just stop here, we've reached full retard.

I get it, dude. You think you're responding to a bunch of grandpas covering their ears and asking 'what's this rip-rap noise?' But you're coming across as a stereotype of your own, the 'I-can't-deal-with-criticism-of-anything-I-enjoy' guy.

We can all agree that rap is a genre of music, and if you like it, great. If you don't, you're not a racist piece of shit. To each his own.

(but that performance did factually, objectively, literally suck)

Also, I'd say it was almost worth tolerating McHale's halfassery just for the knock on Titanfall guy's shirt.

well, that's fine; you can do the old dude yelling at clouds thing if you're so inclined - and yes, you've illustrated that you're willing to do it with other genres, so there's that. but much like how voting conservative by no means automatically make you a racist, there's some troubling venn diagram overlap there, if you're so bothered by it.

it's not about "defending what i like" so much as not tolerating ignorant discrediting of an entire genre of music. on a related note, the "Walking Dead/Journey aren't games, according to my weird criteria" camp around here was likewise embarrassing at the time.

"Yhh, yeah, guys, we think this show is gonna be great! BTW, sorry to say that so late but The Order 1886 trailer won't be ready for the show, again sorry about that..."

But that's OK. More room for adult diaper jokes. Can't believe some people are actually finding that guy's co-hosting anywhere near acceptable.

Well, Jazz is thought as being part of black culture (especially from the roaring 20s...I believe), and no one says that's not music.

So, dunno about your argument. Be careful where you throw the race card.

The 7 things that saved VGX:

1) Joel Banderas
2) No Man's Sky
3) The Division
4) Titanfall
5) Telltales GoT
6) Broken Age
7) Witcher 3

He's the only rapper that talks about REAL issues, and not just violence and sex.

Greatest to ever do it

Bullshit.

"Same Love" wasn't even the most powerful "real" track of that year.

Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools (Drank)" is more real, more personal, and more powerful than anything Macklemore has ever done. And it's subversive as hell, because it's a fucking JAM, not some self-conscious, self-important verse over a protest song.

He wasnt responding to people that disliked it...
He was responding to people saying that this and the entire genre isnt music

and you stating the performance FACTUALLY sucked isnt helping
