Bravely Default |OT| A better Final Fantasy than Final Fantasy

A BUG WARNING

This is if you want to add friends for Bravely Default. I wondered why no friends would register in the game. Turns out I had to delete my entire friends list because I kept getting error messages when trying to add friends to the game. After deleting everyone I added in this thread, I am slowly re-registering friends and it works.

I THINK that this bug is possible if someone on your friends list plays the game before you. I only have 35 more people to re-register (lol).

OMG THANK YOU

I thought this was just happening to me, I kept getting 'an error has occurred' whenever trying to add friends, it just would not have it at all. I had to wipe my entire friends list (all 100! *still cries*) and re-add them tentatively in blocks in order to check I wasn't re-adding the offending friend, if that was indeed the problem. It did fix things, and I'm merrily abilinked up in my party now. Still, weird bug. I doubt it's widespread though, I couldn't find anything about it elsewhere...

Would anyone know the best way to bring this to Nintendo/SE's attention? It's little more than a courtesy as I don't think they'll go so far as to patch it, but it would be good to let them know at least.

Agnes' voice really annoys me. Sorry Erin, I just don't feel like the direction really matches the character :(

Tiz is pretty much straight up Kirito and that terrifies me

One thing I have to say, as super low res the art is, I really like the zoom in on the initial city when you move. The graphics are really beautiful in how painter like it is.

Also just finished the first boss. The brave and default system seems pretty simple, but hopefully it'll become more complex later on. Right now it's just default default then spam brave.

when fighting trash mobs just spend all your brave at once to annihilate them before they get a turn. Brave debt doesn't carry over between battles

Oh I was talking about the boss battle. Hopefully it'll evolve beyond that.

So far I haven't seen any mechanics playing with it, but it's pretty fun just thinking when to save up brave for when the enemy definitely isn't defaulting, or when it's worth it to maybe shell up the party and spend the next few turns in stasis

Chapter 5 questions, as I am confused

I presume all the boss battles reappearing are optional? and are literally there to help you level up Jobs if you want, as no money or experience are gained on JP?

You'll start getting abilities that can effect BP and that cost BP as the game progresses.

Oh quick question for someone is the 3rd member of the Chomper family only available in the Bonus Dungeon ? One of the sources I'm looking at says so, another says it can be found in Eternia in
Chapter 5
but I haven't had any luck looking there.

Yeah it's only in the bonus dungeon. Floor 9 I think

Holy shit
Ancheim
is such a beautiful location. Jaw dropping.

Though the story is going into a pretty weird pro-religion anti-atheism route.

Yay my coursework finished... Time to finish this game :D
On the side note, still no sight of the tax letter from Parcelforce for my For the Sequel copy ;_;

Hmmmm I should add this to the OP

So what carries over from the demo exactly? Is it just items / friends and maybe the village unlocks? I'd rather not import at all if it affects the character's levels and jobs.

Pretty good demo btw, timer says I've spent upwards 6 hours on it but maybe sleep mode counts towards that. Mastered one job on each character, was a little sad when I wasn't unlocking any new ones :p

I was worried the NA Collector's Edition wouldn't get a pretty box since there's so much less stuff in it.

No longer worried!

Damn those
dragons
from the chapter 4 sidequest are a pain D:

Managed to kill 2 of them: the
Earth
one and the
Fire
one.
First one was really easy, but damn the second one took ages (had to do damage with
counter
attacks only, most of the time...)

However, I found out that the BP Recovery support skill is AWESOME in this fight. I guess the other
dragons
will behave like the first two but with another
element
attached to them, so I'll just go with the same strategy, it takes time but at least it works.

Still waiting on my UPS delivery here. Physical FtS copy, HM PM2, BD artbook and a brand new white XL.

Should arrive in the next two hours, hopefully.

That's a nice looking box.

I'm still inching my way through. Somewhere in chapter 2.

Hopefully it gets more open. Having Agnes say 'We have no reason to be here' if you attempt to go anywhere other than your objective is starting to annoy me.

I've been "cheating" today. Used the ablink feature for the first time today. Having mostly gaffers on my friends list, I had no trouble finding a few people with a level 10 Freelancer. This means that I'm using the JP UP support ability way earlier than I am supposed to.

Good God at the voices. Dat compression.

Keep in mind that the game is well over 3gb. Most commercial carts are only 4gb or less, they could have opted with an 8gb cart but that probably would have made costs go up.

Bravely Default probably has the biggest file size of any 3DS game right now.

The Red Mage subquest, Holy shit at the
DeRosa
fight, either I was way underlevelled or I was just doing something wrong 'cause I went through about 9 Phoenix Downs in that fight,

Yea its really tricky.
That BP recovery skill is really annoying because he heals himself every time he has more than 1 BP and grinds you down slowly after that.

chapter 7 question:
are those triple bosses supposed to be unbeatable? I just spend 45 minutes on barras / ominas / heinkel and lost. any tips for job composition?

At what point would it be best to do
the vampire sidequest?
Tried to fight
the dark dragon a few times
and got my ass handed to me. My characters are level 52-53 right now, will probably just head to
the earth temple
tomorrow and leave the sidequest for later.

I just took control of my party in chapter 5. Got a short question about that:
Ignoring that this chapter already is shaping up to be a huge hassle, is there any point in making the blue quests in this chapter? Or are they just there in case I missed a job class earlier in the game? Will I miss parts of the story if I'll head straight to the temples?

4 Niinjas will make that fight go easily. You can win without taking any damage using Utsusemi. Or grind your levels and other jobs and win with sheer force.

They're there if you missed them but the scenes also change ever so slightly. This had to be the worst section of the game by far, personally. Hate padding like that. Thankfully it's only as long as you want to make it. I just did it all. I say just do the Orange blips if you done everything previously.

Finally beat it. The second half of the game almost killed my buzz for the game, ended up skipping a lot of stuff, but I have most items and job classes mastered anyway. Major spoilers:

Everyone made fun of the name when it was released, but now it makes perfect sense: fLying fAiry, "Not FF" indeed. Love it.

So Tiz had Airy's part-God sister inside him keeping him alive? Persona 3 ending apparently. Oh wait, apparently he's still alive and one of the leads in Bravely Second with a moon girl. Cliffhanger, god damn.

Agnes' voice actress was fitting. She was just a terrible (unacceptable!) character. Brainwashed religious zealots aren't appealing in games or in real life.

Battle system was great but forcing you to repeat the same four bosses five times was ridiculous. Way to let a story plot drag down the gameplay. It was a nice twist but could've been done much better. Hopefully the sequel has a bigger budget so there's less reusing assets. I'll buy B2nd, but they better ditch this parallel worlds business. And Agnes too.

Having your abililink friends link with the worlds at the end was charming though. I love it when titles have gameplay mechanics that work within the story.

Does your agility affect the amount of times your attacks hit?

I think it's your job level. When you start a new job you'll only do a couple of hits. Level it up and you'll start doing more. I vaguely remember the game telling me this at some point XD I think certain weapons hit more often too. Bows seem to do at least 10 hits for me at a level 9 job compared to other level 9 characters with different weapons.
