Hyrule Warriors (Zelda Musou) (Zelda Dynasty Warriors) announced

Cool idea for simply how fucking crazy it is. I have no interest in ever playing it though, I've hated every Dynasty-style game I've ever played. I'm also not sure how well this will do outside of Japan. Do Dynasty games perform well in the west?

Only interesting announcement for me int his entire thing. Still not buying a Wii U for it because there are other Musou titles to play.

really happy about this. they can give more action to the franchise without changing the main episode
pllus, really happy to see them continuing the partnership with other companies (like platinum, or atlus) to enlarge their portfolio of exclusive games

Unexpected and it looks really cool.
I've always wanted to play a Zelda game with a more complex battle system.

What? People actually want this?

I think it looks incredibly uninteresting, and it don't think they should mess up the IP like that. But to each his own I guess.

This is the most unexpected application of the Zelda IP ever.

...and while my instant thought was "wack", I then watched Link absolutely ofuckingbliterate hundreds of creatures with warp-speed combat, and am now intrigued.

I hope they improve the graphics. I hope they go interesting places with playable characters (Sheik? Ganondorf? Shadow Link? Princess Zelda?). I'll be watching this game...

They wont go to those interesting places just as they didnt go to fucking nowhere with The Fist of North Star and Gundam. These guys have been given some amazing franchises and in return have delivered nothing but mediocrity. I understand they are buddies with Tecmo, but what is NIntendo doing?

Edit: My God, the music is the worst past of it.

Ha, that was one Musou game I never expected to see. I love Zelda, I love Dynasty Warriors, this seems perfect. Looking forward to this.

Dynasty Warrior games are fun little time wasters, but this just seems to compound Nintendo's existing problems. Re-using existing IP isn't as exciting anymore.

wasnt Hokuto Musou(Fist of the North Star) already released on the WiiU? So if any WiiU users dont know what kind of a game to expect, pick that up! :D

lol. some people's reaction here is hilarious.

Koei announced warriors series: FUCK OFF KOEI THAT IS SO LAME.

Koei put the word zelda on it: GOTY!!!!!! TAKE MY MONEY!

seriously,wtf lol?

Gameplay doesn't look that different from other musou titles, so I'm definitely interested. I love musou games. But man some of you guys surely have some serious double standard issue.

This looks really strange, there's a huge disconnect from the restrained style of Zelda action and this supercharged style. It would work a lot better with a character like Shiek.

Agreed. They could have used Link and Zelda as NPC's. I'm still interested in it and anxious to see more. I like that they done a spin off and try something new, but would have preferred if there was more to separate the Legend of Zelda with any spin offs. I've not played a lot of Dynasty Warriors and admittedly would probably buy any game related to Zelda.

I just can't believe how amazing this looks! Those moves are fucking sick. DAMN. The bombs, the fire staff, the sword moves.

Imagine if they stick this into the official timelines? This could be MM Link after he grows up. He looks like one of the deadliest Links ever. Fucking battle master.

So hyped.

I think it looks really interesting. Even though it's not the Zelda Wii U we were hoping for, its the one we get right now. Maybe some things will end up being used for the real Zelda game, like that giant sword finishing move or the fire...thingie.

Remember when Zelda was sacrosanct and they wouldn't even put out crappy merchandise for it, like they would with Mario? Now it's in this and a Sonic game.

Hope they don't devalue the brand with this.

*cough*Metroid*cough*

I think this is pretty much the definition of devaluing the brand.

Looks good for what it is supposed to be. It'll be interesting finally being able to play as Ganondorf with true sword combat though, assuming he's playable which is pretty likely. I have good faith Tecmo Koei can make this a fun game to play, and hopefully a little bit of Nintendo's oversight/guidance can iron out a few of the gameplay bugs/weaknesses.

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
This looks pretty bad IMO

I seriously hope Nintendo doesn't start milking Zelda now that they're in panic mode. This is not what I expected out of panic mode Nintendo :/

I'm concerned. The last Dynasty Warriors game I played was boring. I returned it after four hours of repetitive play. I hope Link makes it somewhat more fun.

Almost positive that particular Link dies a shade - is that not correct? He never makes it back to Hyrule, as far as I know.

It has long been established that most people here are shallow as fuck. (Me included)

Not sure I'm really excited for this, actually surprised so many here are.

Dynasty Warriors style game? The exploration, puzzles and dungeons are the best parts of Zelda games, without all that...

Its just an action spin off done by a 3rd party I see nothing wrong with that

I don't want any of that nintendo guidance.

First reaction: Wow, the gameplay looks tight! Thank god it's just a spinoff though, because in terms of story and presentation, it doesn't look too good.

Second reaction: Wait... Nintendo FINALLY chooses to give another developer a change to make a "different" Zelda game, and they choose Tecmo? And wow, the graphics sure aren't looking next gen....

The day has come when I'm looking at an upcoming Zelda, and I don't think "I have to buy Nintendo's console for this." But hey, at least we got our 2014 Zelda, right?

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Yes, this is how I interpret it too. Musou games are hardly big in the West. Zelda is a known franchise. Boringly squish them together and hope it fills some weird void in the global software library and gets people buying musou.

.

I took it the other way- musou games are big in Japan and there is no evidence Nintendo is going to get any of them, so they are offering their IP to TK so they can get at least 1 new game in the genre.
