Hyrule Warriors (Zelda Musou) (Zelda Dynasty Warriors) announced

Unexpected and it looks really cool.
I've always wanted to play a Zelda game with a more complex battle system.

I've not played a Warriors game in a while, but they always had embarrassingly simplistic combat. It may have improve in probably the five or six years since I played, but then it doesn't look like a series that evolves much.

What? People actually want this?

I think it looks incredibly uninteresting, and it don't think they should mess up the IP like that. But to each his own I guess.

The Musou games have a small but very hardcore following online. Strangely, most people seem to openly acknowledge their flaws, but still play them anyway. I think they're fun and I do see the appeal, but they get very dull very quickly IMO. I loved the combat in Demon's Souls for instance, where every enemy can be a threat, and the Musou games are the opposite of that where you can kill hundreds or even thousands of enemies in a single battle with two or three different moves and an ultra attack.

Dynasty Warrior games are fun little time wasters, but this just seems to compound Nintendo's existing problems. Re-using existing IP isn't as exciting anymore.

Agreed. I actually think this would have been a good opportunity to introduce a new character in a new IP. Crowbarring this into Zelda feels like it's diluting the brand.

This just continues one of those Nintendo and third party collaboration, right? Would've Fire Emblem Musou but it's used in SMTxFE already.

Next in line is probably Pokemon.

Bokoblin AI looking a bit braindead as usual, granted they've always been dumb grunts.

No way in hell I'll ever play this, but I'll laugh every pretty much every time I see it. So thanks for that Nintendo.
I hope it's good for the people that like it though.

people saying that this is the point where nintendo jumps the shark and ruins their ip forever must not remember the gamecube days of mario in nba street and ssx, mario dance dance revolution, little mac in fight night, or donkey konga

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Pokemon Hunter. Just imagine crafting armour from Pikachu's.

Apparently you don't know about the Dynasty Warriors games. Their battle systems are anything but complex... Hell, Zelda Wind Waker has a more complex battle system than any Warriors game....

They are pretty much mindless button mashers, and it is obvious from the trailer this game won't be any different.

Judging a book by it's cover? That's real mature.

Anyways, can't wait to find out who the playable characters are. Hopefully there's a ton of 'em, like other Musou games.

This is the first Wii U game that's made me say 'man, I really want to play that' since Zombi U.

Graphics are a bit ropey, but you can't beat a bit of musou in the morning.

I'm not sure if it's because we're both Vita fans, but god do I agree with you here!

I played through ALBW recently and enjoyed, but one thing that irked me is how the combat in the series has been simply stale. It's functional, don't get me wrong, but it's very very simple and even though you have an enormous number of items, sword and shield take care of mainly everything. Everything else feels like they exist solely for the puzzles.

So, seeing this and how the bombs and ESPECIALLY the Fire Rod was used, I'm pretty psyched. It's not going to have dungeon/puzzle gameplay, most likely, but the combat looks really fun. Getting new uses for Link's iconic items seems like it'll be a blast just by itself. Now if only they could go the extra way and actually make some sort of mini-dungeons maps with 'puzzles' that could work with the fast-paced gameplay... oh boy. Anyhow, very interesting.

as a Huge fan of the Musou series im fucking excited

People like to shit on these games, but I doubt all of them played Dynasty Warriors 2, and then 3 and dropped the series after. 7, 8, Orochi, and Gundam are all pretty damn good games.

Sure, this might not look the best, but the particle effects in this game will be baller, also, the animations for attacks will always be baller

we just gotta hope that this game doesn't have just Link in it, because these games are all about fan service.

Two of my favorite franchises together in one game. Seriously, what's with the instant diss here? I like what I see, Link mowing down hundreds of grunts. The latest Musou games have been very good, aside of the Fist of the North Stars ones.

I'm excited for Musou game with Nintendo touches.

To the people saying that Link's Crossbow whatever is as bad, did you hear that horrific remix in the trailer? Arent you guys even aware that they gave the franchise to Omega Force? This isnt Flagship, this is the most insipid team on the industry. A studio like Next Level Games working on something like this would have been interesting and still arise some concerns, but they just straight up gave it to a studio that even Team Ninja Dog probably makes fun of.

hey guys the game is still early obviously, and if you're expecting a good look from a current gen musou game that's too much expectations come one

Considering how fast those games are crapped I wouldnt be surprised if it ends up looking very close to this,

I don't see what people see in Musou.

Played the latest installment recently after not playing the series since the PS2 years, and it's pretty much the same.

It's hard to feel anything that's not apathy on this personally, this is obviously a stopgap spin-off to fight the droughts.

Yo, no lie, if they can get the combat to feel as good as it does in ALBW AND it be 60fps, this is a system seller for me...
if I didn't already own a Wii U

This is a Musou game so that likely means multiple characters unless it's just Link with all of his weapons as shown in the trailer. Putting my money on the following.

Adult Link, Zelda (not Shiek but ala Twilight Princess), a Goron, a Hyrule Guard, Impa.

I don't see Gandandorf being a playable character but instead an enemy. It makes no sense for him to fight on the side of Hyrule. I don't see Toon Link either due to the style of the game.

Has anyone played Musuo games here? They are shallow fighting games to say the least. I do not see why this series has such a large following.

At first I was like "ZOMG" and then I remembered that there's not going to be much depth to this and I just kinda loved the art style and wished it was a real Zelda game that looked like this.
