GameStop sure seems to be pushing the Xbone hard...

-PXG- I posted your comment and that bathroom pic on reddit, gamestop can't get away with this.

If Gamestop en masse gets in trouble for the poop room antics bathrooms might be taken out, they'll be replaced with "the pit", a slim 10 foot concrete hole outside where employees have to shit.

My manager would take huge dumps, turn off the fan, crank up the heat and close the door. He'd leave that bitch on for hours in hopes one of us was foolish enough to enter. Yeah...meanwhile consoles baked in residual shit particles in high temperatures for quite a while.

I ain't kidding. This happened on a regular basis. None of this is bullshit

I don't know man, your story sounds like a load of crap to me.

The Gamestop up the street from me (Hamilton Heights, NYC) seemed to have XBones in stock and was only selling PS4s in $600 refurbished bundles.

Logically more supply is better for sales than less supply, but I do wonder if PS4 is getting a sort of feedback loop where the fact that it's harder to find makes consumers think that PS4 is the better system, which increases demand for it further, which makes it keep selling out, and so on.

You're just wasting your energy. Just wait until the December NPDs come out and the xbone sells more then there will be lots of crow eaten.
Or it'll turn out that it actually is because of low demand rather than high supply. Of course, the most likely outcome is that XBone wins in the US and PS4 winds worldwide, and I think both consoles are fine in that scenario. But shit is going to get fucking real, both on the internet and in corporate board rooms, if either console wins/loses both of those.

Then I guess Nintendo really needs to go downhill to be stored next to that.

It was pretty funny, but the girl that took my return of the Xbone day one edition was smack talking the Xbone when I returned it. She didn't strike me as a gamer, but she seemed to know what she wanted. This console war is going to be brutal....

Anecdotal of course, but going to Gamestop yesterday to buy Tearaway allowed me to see a huge stack of Xbones just sitting on the floor, unnoticed while a majority of the store was swarming around the PS3, PS4, and 3DS sections. I felt kind of bad for the Xbone. I'd love to get one for Killer Instinct and maybe Just Dance, but $500 is too steep at the moment.

There's 2 Gamestops at the mall close to where I live and in one site, I see stacks of Xbox One at the entrance with handwritten signs saying "In Stock Now." I'm like, no shit Sherlock, I see them right there in front of me. As for the PS4, they're missing in action.
Gamestop is just trying to clear out some inventories for the holiday sales.

Nothing out of the ordinary really.
From what I've read PS4 sells the moment it's in the store, Xbox One on the other hard is having a bit of a harder time moving units, Gamestop needs to sell in order to profit so it's not surprising to see them trying to move the stock that is having a harder time selling (I know people could ask why they're not doing the same with Vita and Wii U but given that Xbox One just released I guess it's their priority at the moment)

I found this interesting table at a GameStop today, front and center so you had to walk around it, and completely with an interesting home-made sign and in-stock flyers:

I've seen the same or similar set-up at least two other GameStops. They had a few empty PS4 boxes stacked but nothing near as prominent. Inquiries on whether the PS4 was in stock were met with a negative. In the last GameStop, the employee actually said he had a PS4 but was using it as a Kinect stand for his Xbone because the PS4 has no games, especially sports games. I didn't even bother with him.

Take it for what's it worth, but there seems to be a clear push at GameStop to move Xbones. It also appears from the homemade signs that GameStop is still trying to clear the air from the Xbone reveal fiasco earlier this year.

They have a shit ton of stock on a system that nobody wants, of course they are going to try and push it.... You make it like they are pro-MS and anti Sony... which is not the case, so stop trying to start an argument where there is no argument to start.

My local GS had 54pcs in stock the night before Christmas, and their DM sent an email saying he wanted all stock to be gone by Christmas Eve... I think they sold 4.

Oh well...

The Best Buy in my city has had an XBox rep there every weekend all day demoing the XB1 and talking it up to customers. The Best Buy Assoc. said he tells customers the XB1 has the same power as PS4.

Sounds cool, I bet he gave free stuff away too.

I got some cool nintendo stuff at best buy last year from a nintendo rep when the wii u just came out.

What you saw were display boxes for xbox one, gamestop does not put live NEW systems out on the floor. Just an FYI.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
Consensus among my coworkers is that its an effort to try and actually move Xbox Ones. We're only averaging 1-2 a day and lets just say our stock far exceeds that. Hell on christmas eve we sold more wii us than we did xbones. Sold 7 Wii Us and 2 Xbox Ones. Demand was super high for a bout a week/week and a half into december and then just plummeted.

Sounds like good news for Microsoft. Nobody cares about PS4. These are solid evidences Xbone will dominate NPD in Dec.

It did crazy well for about two weeks from the managers I talked to.

It does seem to be like a slightly better off version of the 2006 PS3 sales.

Night before Christmas = Christmas Eve.

Did he expect them to all be sold in 1 day?

You are trying too hard.

I worked for GameStop for two fucking years. Yes, consoles are stored in the bathroom. Yes, they are in close proximity to the toilet. Yes, I'm sure piss and ass particles probably found themselves on merchandise you bought. GameStop is aware of this and no, they do not care. This only happens in stores with limited or no back room. My store was like that. Saganator's post is tame. I've seen muuuuuuch worse with my own two eyes.

Hell, we had DS Lites fall in our toilet a few times, lol

I just took my PS4 box and threw it in the recycle bin after reading this.

I could be wrong, but I think they are biased and are Xbox fanboys.
As I said though, I could be wrong, but I never am.

It'd probably help move units a wee bit if MS got proper demo kiosks out in the wild to generate interest. Been to a local Best Buy several times in the last month, without fail I've been able to see a decent group huddled around the playable PS4 unit in the Sony section of the games area, while the Xbox section is generally dead with an occasional person looking through 360 games. Surprises me that, with so much stock piling up in stores, more of them haven't just hijacked those fake units with the video loop to put the real deal in 'em and come up with some actual store demo units. Likely wouldn't be a huge deal, but at least something to get more folks to look at the Xbone certainly couldn't hurt.

I used to work at GameStop and I went in there after I'd left to talk to my former boss. He'd told me on the conference call (this was back when it was first announced mind you) that his DM was trying to find the good points of the system and see how hyped the managers were. And of course no one was really excited. The company was pretty annoyed in general though with the no used policy. I think they were still being told to push it pretty hard. Typical shady GS.
Why would they think there was a "no used" policy?

Microsoft marketing dollars at work. At Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Gamestop, and pretty much every other retailer the X1 is being pushed harder with in store displays than the PS4. Not really a surprise. I think the X1 display they have out is misleading though. It makes it appear that the X1 is a much smaller console than what it is in reality and they won't let you play games and just play a sizzle reel of games coming within the next year.

Noticed that yesterday in Best Buy. There was even a guy doing a live demo of it. Hilarious shit.

"Look at how smooth the Kinect works!"

While he was saying that, the Kinect was acting all choppy and not reading his commands.

"There's too many people moving right now, so it's a bit wonky!"

People really should have stopped standing while he was using it. People can be so rude, I swear.
Just show off the games, dude. It'll be way easier that way.

I would have taken freebies, but nothing...

Also, XB1 will win Dec. NPD, if not XB1, it will be 360 or 3DS, those have been selling like crazy and have been available... No PS4's to sell means retailers are going to prioritize what they do have...

It's clearly playing second fiddle to PS4 right now and the price is very high. I have seen them every time I've shopped throughout the holidays available at Target, Wal-Mart, Gamestop and Best Buy. It's not selling as well or they are restocking like made. I think it's the former.

Microsoft was always going to struggle at $500 with no game in the box. It's just too much for a games machine. Always has been and probably always will be.

Man people are incredibly paranoid here.

Yes everyone, Gamestop and MS have clearly teamed up into an ultimate evil duo who will stop at nothing to destroy the only hope for gaming, Sony.

God help us all.
If that's all it takes for someone to buy an Xbox One then they must have already been leaning heavily in they direction. I think even the most casual users do some online research.

Let me guess, it was the Amherst or Nashua stores? Huge fanboys in a couple of those. Hooksett shop is very fair as well as Manch Mall, cool non-"warriors" working there.

Also corporate tells them the basic layout of the store which iS often "sponsored" from what I've heard.

Now all the extra posters, that Manager decision....

Business pushing merchandise... sounds about right to me. At this point if people still have an issue about a policy that wasn't implemented it's hard for me to consider said individual rational. Drm isn't an issue...time to get over it and enjoy the great games and fun times with your friends on xbl.
Hmmmmmmmm

The conversation at that store was probably like:

"Hey we need to move these units."
"But a lot customers still think it has DRM."
"So tell them the truth."
"They don't want to hear it."

I doubt MS would have anything to do with it, more like GS wants to meet their sales forecast.
