The one thing XBLG has over PS+ is you keep the game, even if not subscribed. The trick is that you have to be subscribed to do just about anything though, so it's more likely you're going to keep it.

The fact that you actually keep these forever makes it better than PS+ for me. I'm also glad that they aren't all "new" games. I missed out on Crackdown but I played and enjoyed it because it was free. I had PS+ for 3 months and none of the games were even worth trying, except for Hotline Miami and Gravity Rush. I can't play them anymore until I renew but I won't.

The problem with handing out games this old is that you can buy these old games off Amazon for less than $20 new on all platforms. Sleeping Dogs, like all Square Enix properties older than 6 months, has depreciated in price that retailers can sell it in their store's bargain bins without much trouble. Actually, I'm not surprised its Square Enix handing out these games this month since they love doing it with PS+.

I know you shouldn't complain about "free stuff" but its still not particularly good value. If you're subscribed to PS+, like you have subscribed to Xbox Live for 6 years, the fact you don't own the games isn't too much of an issue. How many games do you seriously replay after a few years?

How were the free games for PS+ in the first 6 months?

Shit.

Sleepy Dawgs is an actual good game for once.

They have a looooong way to go, but MS is moving in a positive direction with this service it seems.
Better not be offering fucking Kingdom of Keflings-tier garbage again next month.

Thread title made me laugh so hard ("Sleepy dogs")...

Anyway, Sleeping Dogs is a great game and everyone should experience it. And it also has kung fu (I'm a kung fu student), so it's even better.

Guardian of Light is fantastic, it's overlooked but I think it's one of the best downloadable games this (last?) gen

Weren't the first two games on Plus Wipeout HD and Shatter? Those are about as far from "shit" as you'll get on current consoles :/

Completely forgot about Wipeout HD. It was $20 at the time too!

It wasn't shit by any measure, but it really picked up a lot of steam after the hacking incident.

Before June 2012, the selection was downright awful which by definition made the service pretty rubbish. What drove PS+ in regards to games and game prices then were the discounts if you didn't have Steam. I remember shit like Borderlands having decent discounts if you had PS+.

Now, PS+ just hands you recent games that have, at worst, mediocre reviews and still generally charge a high price at most retail stores. That's why the service actually looks good these days because the games are generally decent and still charge a decent price if you were ever on the fence about a game (like Soul Sacrifice or Catherine).

If I'm gonna be away from my console 'til March, will I be able to claim the games for free if I put them in my download queue through xbox.com, and then actually turn on my console months later? Thanks.

Yep, I've been queueing them up from work.

Nah. Wipeout HD, Critter Crunch, Shatter, Burnout Paradise, Dead Nation, Crash Commando, Trine 2, Shank 2 and FC2 are all fantastic games.

It's obviously a better service now, but it was never really shit. It had a few lulls and some disappointing months, but it was never really awful or shit like some of the GwG offerings have been.

Nice! Looks like I'll be cashing in on my free month of Live next month! Might as well trade in my copy of Sleeping Dogs on 360.

Already have both but at least it's not as bad as the last few offerings. Good for those who haven't had PS+ in recent years I suppose.

What does that matter right now? It's the PS+ games the past 6 months that are relevant in any comparison here.

It matters right now because IMO it seems weird comparing the current PS+, a matured service, to GWG a service still in it's infancy. In the beginning PS+, arguably, wasn't as great as it is now, it needed time to get better and it will certainly take for GWG to do the same.

So MS finally decided to give good games when my XBL ran out for the first time since Halo 2, great. Is it possible to renew for one month without a creditcard?
