I am excited for the Alien game, but I hope it's not this. I don't see people flipping out over this except the die hard Alien fans.

That's true; especially after the Colonial Marines fiasco, it would be odd to say people will flip over a new Alien game.

But personally, I've never had interest in any of the previous Alien games, yet this one looks appealing to me.

An Alien game that wasn't trying to be a shooter would indeed be a little different.

Well, an Alien game instead of an Aliens game would be different... for the license.

In reality there are a ton of first person horror games lately, so this is just following a trend with a license.

i thought that alien game was coming to 360 and ps3 unless they scrapped those.

im suprised if it is a good alien game though but i hope its also coming to pc :S

i personally hope its batman's new Arkham game now the world is 100x Arkham city the size and superman makes an appearance in some missions!

An Alien game about cooking pizza would also be a little different.

I think it would actually be unique. Not trying to be a pedantic wordsmith, just pointing out that it would be truly bizarre to declare the tweet as misleading.

The franchise is usually used to make shooters. Either it's Aliens or Aliens vs Predator. A game in the style of Amnesia that followed the aesthetic and tone of Scott's original would definitely be a little different and would certainly be something that people have been asking for. In fact, I don't think Aliens has been used for a non-shooter since the Alien game on Spectrum. Even the Alien 3 games had Ripley blasting things with assault rifles and grenade launchers even though a rather large plot point of that movie was that there were no weapons on the entire planet.

You're not wrong and it's actually the reason I think it won't be this game. Thing is, they could have easily scrapped the current gen versions during development. It's probably cheaper for them.

What's with the Alien talk? Never played one and as far as I know an announcement of a new one wouldn't make people flip out.

So... current-gen only?

Can we stop saying 'next gen' now?

Im gonna call it right now, they wont stop using. its a buzz word and twats like Geoff Keighley are gonna milk it till freaking next gen.

also, whatever happened to Prey 2?

I'm hoping for a new Fallout or maybe a very early tease of the new Elder Scrolls game. I know Elder Scrolls online is still happening, but I want a concrete confirmation of the main game continuation.

The most recent rumor is that Arkane is now working on Prey 2, completely scrapping the Human Head version.

As for the cover, their use of "flip" has me considering other options that would involve flipping. A new SSX game that incorporates the best of SSX 2 and 3 would be welcomed.
Yeah I'm dreaming.

It's obviously Titan Fall, why are people disappointing themselves already? When they make an announcement of an announcement, there is no weight behind it usually (and sadly).

Titanfall already had a cover, and that wouldn't be surprising or different in the slightest.

Exactly why I think it'll happen. Are you people seriously getting your hopes up for this?

Game Informer often gets first-look at games, presumably due to being owned by GameStop. These first-looks are what get the cover almost always.

Bahaha, you're that sure? Prepare to eat some nasty crow.

Hmm, not really a good idea to buy too much into the hype. I could see it being that Alien game, which could be kind of interesting I suppose. Not exactly mind blowing and after CM, people's faith in that license might be shaky even if it doesn't have the involvement of the parties involved with CM.

I can't think of anything that would be truly surprising except the really out there possibilities like HL3 or TLG.

I'd honestly like to see another RPG myself. Cyberpunk would be nice, but I imagine they are putting most of everything into Witcher 3.

I'd personally flip if it was something like FFXV, but the chances of something like that are very unlikely.

The Usual Suspects PS4/Xbone, it'll flip ya for real.

But yeah probably that aliens game, which could be very cool.

Going to post this here as well.

But, Alien may not be the Game Informer cover, or Kotaku were just wrong. They said it was going to be both current and next-gen:

Kotaku said:
The game is called Alien: Isolation, and we hear it will be on both current- and next-gen consoles next year.

And, not that it needs to be said seeing as it's an Aliens game, but keep hype levels in check.

Kotaku said:
There's only one alien for "most" of the game, our source said; you'll mostly be shooting through "clones and soldiers."

I thought people were joking when they said it's poop. Do you seriously see "poop" in this mockup? like seriously?

Strangely, when I scrolled down fast it looked like one (that or ice cream). I had to scroll back up and do a double look.

It's becoming likely this cover is Alien: Isolation. People would flip in a "Nuh uh, oh no you didn't" kind of way.
To be honest, I didn't think 20th Century Fox would permit use of their license again after the last game. But since they no longer have SW... well, I suppose why not?
