NFL 2013 Wild Card |OT| The Return of Jafar

I expect him to take big steps forward to with another season in the system and a full offseason of first team reps.

That one report also made it sound like Maclin would be back, which is good. I hope the Eagles can address their defense this offseason.

The Eagles can score on any team. As long as they can continue to score as many points as they have scored per game this season, they will be in a lot of games. The Eagles need to improve their secondary and pass rush if they want to mitigate the damage on the other side of the ball. Either draft or sign a pass rusher depending on the depth of that position for this upcoming draft. I want Byrd, but there are other less expensive options on the market too.

2 new safeties and a pass rushing OLB who can also cover and a run stopping NT would go a long way to shoring up the defense.

I bet my man card James Jones will be a Packer next year.

This bet is of no consequence to me, I just want to get it on paper.

Edit: Didn't see the broken ribs thing until now. That changes things a bit.

I'm sorry, but Boykin is the future of the NFL.
My man.

Yeah, understandable.

I'm not anywhere mentioning of how many people are polled? Ah well, interesting stuff nonetheless.

Regarding shooters, I have a special fondness for the first Gears of War, but yeah, I'll conceded that Counter-strike is King.

I'm too old and not enough dedication to care about multiplayer gaming now these days though.

Thought they said something like 720 people? Enough to be statistically relevant I think, but it doesn't mean anything. Teams and ebb and flow with star power and winning/losing. Dallas however seems to retain that crown year in and year out, even being the most mediocre team over the last 15 or so years. Broncos fandom will even back out once Manning is gone, he has a lot of gravity in terms of pulling in fans.

What I find odd is in the late 90's I was really into games such as C&C, Starcraft, Warcraft, and Age of Empires. I put thousands of hours into the old Starcraft. When XBL rolled around, I got really into Return to Wolfenstein, and then I played shooters pretty heavily up to about 2 years ago. Haven't really been able to go back. I now pretty much play handhelds, mixed in with indie games. Taste has really moved over the years.

Already posted my new messenger bag in that thread.

I invested in a nice fanny pack to carry my Note 2 in. The leather color is a little different than my velcro shoes, but nobody notices when I go to the mall.

Ric Flair is so up to his eyeballs in debt that he'd endorse your asshole if you paid him for it.

Seriously. I'm at a loss for words why people are offended at all. Ric loves it because someone was stupid enough to give him money, and Vince McMahon is loving it because it's going to get a little mainstream media attention.

Besides, I thought Ric moved out of Charlotte a few years ago?

Lol Jesus Christ the panthers and their fans are butt hurt over something so stupid. Reminds me of the seachickens!

Bro, no one really gives a shit:

"I'm sure they gave him a little money," says Munnerlyn. "But, no, I don't feel betrayed. We said the chant and they (the 49ers) brought him in. At the end of the day it's a football game going to be played. It's not about Ric Flair, it's not about wrestling, it's about playing football Sunday at 1:05."

Yankeehater, I share your hope that the Patriots will lose their relevancy in the coming seasons.

I have hope the Eagles will continue to improve. I can't assure you that they will have a better record than the Patriots, but this upcoming season will be the Eagles chance to prove what they are.

If the Eagles end next season with a 10-6 or 11-5 record, will eznark/Squicken be willing to admit that the Eagles are a good team? I think this upcoming season will be a good indicator of where the Eagles truly stand.

So who are the Panthers going to pick 31st after losing to the Chargers in the Super Bowl? I hope one of those receivers will be available that late.

I hope he gets canned after the Incognito/Martin report.
Agreed. The problem is who's going to take the GM spot when the coach is already in place? Dolphins-logic.

One more year of misery and he's gone right? I mean it has to be... :(
Ireland is only one flavor of misery amongst the misery buffet Dolphins fans are forced to partake of during the duration of their lifetimes. Once he's gone we'll just get a new type of sadness.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Interesting...

Plus, it's not like it hurts to do what Caldwell did with the film review.

Right. Hearing Caldwell actually took the time to do that AND wasn't afraid to be critical of Stafford actually endeared me to him a bit.

They would have to give the GM the right to fire Philbin and bring in his guy. No GM worth his salt would take a job where he is forced to work with a coach that is already in place.

Last I heard Brian Gaine could take over as GM if Ireland goes since Philbin is staying.

Why would Ross bother forcing Philbin to fire Sherman right now if he seriously thought they would be cleaning house fairly soon? Philbin is searching for a new OC right now, I'm pretty sure he's safe. I guess that could change after the report comes out but that just seems too weird.

So yeah, that will probably happen because Dolphins.

I just like stats and charts and all that, lol, so I was just wondering the amount of people polled it all.

These days I get more excited over books than I do games. When I don't buy a single thing for myself during a Steam sale I know my interest is waning.

haha I had that wrong for sure

I am still surprised at the game Jernigan had. It looked like Auburn was going to run them out of the building. Once they stopped scoring it was just a matter of time for Auburn's defense to let them down
It's kind of sad but all of my sports interests inevitably turn into me rooting against something for pleasure. The Dolphins collapsed this year so now it's all about the Pats getting knocked out. The Hokies were garbage again so it was all about the SEC not winning another national championship. I'm like a poor man's Kave, I guess.

I've watched FSU play a lot this season and I knew they were better than that first half, regardless of the level of competition (which I don't think is as bad as people make it out to be). I was surprised how much Auburn dominated early on, though.

Jernigan was a monster in that game. With Auburn it is all about holding them to ~2 yard running plays once in awhile to get them to 3rd and long and no one has been able to do that this season. If it wasn't for Jernigan FSU wouldn't have been able to either. I love watching a d-line eat up RB's, kind of like Paul Soliai on a good day or every d-line the Dolphins played against.

Jay Gruden goes to bat for Andy Dalton, I guess

Aaron Rodgers isn't coming here

Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown recently acknowledged that he preferred Colin Kaepernick to Andy Dalton in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Kaepernick's 87.9 to 17.5 postseason Total QBR advantage over Dalton only magnifies the talent disparity between the two quarterbacks.

In a Tuesday interview with Lance McAlister of WLW Cincinnati, offensive coordinator Jay Gruden defended the Bengals' decision to draft Dalton over Kaepernick with Carson Palmer's Cincinnati future in doubt.

"We didn't just need a quarterback to come in and compete or be a backup for a couple years and develop on the sidelines," Gruden explained. "We needed one to come in and start right away."

Although Brown was higher on Kaepernick's physical gifts, he ended up deferring to Gruden ostensibly because the Nevada quarterback was viewed as a developmental project.

"It was my feeling and a lot of other people's feeling in the building that Andy was the most mentally ready to come in and start Day 1," Gruden said. "... Colin had the great physical make-up, but there were questions about his quarterback accuracy, as a passer is concerned. I also wasn't really into the read option stuff and it wasn't really that popular at the time."

The Bengals reaped the rewards of that logic when the "NFL-ready" Dalton exceeded expectations as a rookie. Three years later, the very same logic has the organization languishing in quarterback purgatory while the 49ers enjoy a uniquely talented player blossoming into the face of the franchise.

Cincinnati fans will have to live and die with Dalton, as coach Marvin Lewis made it clear Monday that there will be no major changes at quarterback in 2014.

"He's won big games for us and he'll continue to win big games. We ask a lot out of him, there's no doubt about it," Lewis said, via the team's official website. "He just finished his third season of doing it. I believe in his abilities, I believe in his makeup, I believe in his maturity. ... He had another very good season. He h’s progressed well. We need to continue to do things to make his job just easier and easier to do."

After three seasons, Dalton is the prime meridian of NFL quarterbacks. Any quarterback above Dalton is a viable franchise player. Any quarterback below Dalton is a problem, not a solution.

We believe it's a fair assessment of Dalton's value. Gruden believes it's an unfair criticism of an improving player.

"Who do they want?" Gruden asked. "Aaron Rodgers isn't coming here in a trade. People need to appreciate what (Dalton) has done and will do."
