The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim... coming to PS4 and Xbox One? (Bethesda: Nope)

Having already put a stupid amount of time into the game, I'd only buy it again if it included all DLC and either had some level of mod support or included some of the most popular mods to the game.

Since these nexgen systems are basically just a PC I can see this happening without much effort on the developers end.

Would re-buy if it came out for Wii U. Now I´ll stick with my PC though.
Still, great news for the people that still have not experienced this magnificent game!

EDIT: JUST SAW THAT THIS WAS NOT TRUE FROM PETE HINES ON TWITTER

Fallout 4 has been trademarked (iirc)
due a fallout game

its a fallout game guys not another skyrim port, its more likely to end up on wiiU than get ported as some definitive edition

No, it's a hoax. Fallout 4 is not being announced, and Skyrim isn't coming to next gen.

I wonder how much money Skyrim has made, across all platforms, including DLC. It has to be a shit-ton. Every time it goes on sale on Steam it still sells well. It seems that almost all my Steam friends have it and the lowest it's been is $7.49. I'm sure they are expensive to make but it must be incredibly profitable. I've double-dipped on the game myself (360 + PC) and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Just to speculate. How much better would a Skyrim on Xbox One/PS4 look like? Would it be a massive upgrade graphics wise to the 360/ps3 versions? Any example on how good it would have looked like?

It would look and perform significantly better. Having 8GB of memory vs 512 256/256 should provide TONS of benefits.

This would actually make a great summer release when both the new consoles release slate is barren.

Aside from Titanfall and Infamous 2 Id say the first 9 months (until Desting) is completely barren.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see several games from last year get GotY editions.

They're cheap, easy to produce and can easily fill out the barren release schedule.

The thought of a fully maxed out version of Skyrim was amazing, but I guess it was just a dream!

Really think the PS4/ Xbone could benefit from some ports for the first year.

Sony should bring the Uncharted Trilogy, The Last of Us and God of War 3 and Ascension to the PS4. Quick and easy ports and everyone's happy!

Did anyone happen to check Oblivion or Fallout 3? They had the same platform offerings so presumably the same mistake should have propagated to their pages as well.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

Some of those games were playable and demoed with the Gaikai service at CES, so this won't likely happen.

Shame about SKyrim though, put over 200 hours into the 360 version and would happily buy again to play on PS4 with a smooth framerate and some light visual tweaks ala Tomb Raider.

I can see this happening. Tomb Raider is already on the way. Wasn't it already confirmed through an insider that we should be expecting a lot of last gen titles on next gen in 2014?

This really hurts Bethesda's name if you ask me. Two things that look like huge announcements and twice a hoax. I know it's nothing they can do about it, but they should either jump directly on it if it's a hoax or do naturally nothing if it's coming from them. I'm kinda pissed this turned into nothing again. Ah well, maybe my mistake for being this gullible.

i was hoping that that elder scrolls anthology collection for the PC would be on PS4. Also maybe a fallout anthogy with 1, 2, tactics, 3, and new vegas.

Pete Hines responded pretty quickly, all things considered. Took 'em way longer to respond to the Survivor 2299 hoax, for which I will never forgive them.

This might be one game I'd love to play on PS4 (if it doesn't suffer from PS3 issues). Hopefully if true, it's graphics are enhanced slightly and loading times are much much better.

Well the hoaxes aren't their fault.

They should just make a statement regarding all of this to clear it up and actually give us Skyrim for PS4 too!

I'm mainly interested if they were lying in their excuse. I totally believe it's not happening. Bethesda has never done anything of the sort to make me think they're even interested.

I want it to be true, so much so that I would pay £50 for this 'definitive edition', largely because, on PS3 at least, it wasn't such an amazing experience and needed a boost in resolution and framerate - something the PS4 can manage without even using all of its power.

It sounds like the Survivor 2299 hoax has got them to change their policy, so they will now shut down hoaxes immediately (such as this one).

Not sure what the point would be. No mods? No thanks. Skyrim is an 8 max without mods, it's a 10 with them, they really do make the game something extremely special.

I still wouldn't be surprised if PS4/Xbone Skyrim was in the works, especially after this "mistake" showed up on their website the overwhelming response that ensued. Skyrim on PS4 would make a lot of sense and would be a cashcow for Bethesda, don't stop believing, people!

Maybe it's for the best that they're not spending time and resources for Skyrim port. I'd rather get a true "next" gen Fallout or Elder Scrolls.

Of course it's a shame for those who have not played Skyrim yet, or those that run into problems and could not play it. Then again you can get the game for pretty cheap on Pc.

I get tired of people saying this.

The resources to do a PS4 port are so negligible that would easily pay for itself. They would simply port over the existing PC version to the PS4 which has a very similar architecture and they could easily farm it out to a smaller up and coming developer.

Interesting. I played skyrim on both ps3 and pc. After experiencing the mods and updated texture for the PC, I cant imagine playing it on anything else. The mods are the real deal breaker for me if I was to double dip or not.

Good on those that never experienced this game though. It really is one of my most joyous game I ever played including all of the really well done DLC.

It´s fantastic. I am genuinely happy that Skyrim was the big success it was. It was great for gaming overall, and it was great for gamers, and I also think it provided lot of work opportunity for people!

I look forward to anything Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Just like millions of gamers!
