The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim... coming to PS4 and Xbox One? (Bethesda: Nope)

Really disappointing that they debunked this. I was ready to get super hyped for Skyrim on next gen.

I wonder if Bethesda might reconsider porting this to PS4/XB1 now after seeing some of the interest though. I can't imagine the project would be a massive undertaking and it's not as though they'd have to put the main team on it. Considering it would be a shoo-in for a couple million copies it seems like a no brainer.

Agreed, although no clue just how hard or easy it is. With that said, it's been a while since I played Skyrim, and honestly have no interest in rebuying the game on current gen systems, but would totally double dip on next-gen. If not porting Skyrim to next-gen means that they're working on a new Elder Scrolls game besides ESO, then I'm fine with that too.

Yeah I think they will surprise us with a next Gen release.

As someone who loved Skyrim on PC, and no longer has a beast rig, I'd totally love this.

I haven't played any of the DLC either, so that just sweetens the deal...

Some kind of mod support, and I'm even. Even if it's just downloading mods.

I hope Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3 follow suit. Those are two more titles that would benefit from the hardware over previous gen.

I kind of find his second tweet, even if its a retweet, a bit arrogant. Esp when the numbers don't lie.

Pete Hines ‏@DCDeacon 1h

Exactly! Stupid Skyrim. RT @Spoon_Noob: @DCDeacon Skyrim is boring on console anyway.

Scott Denton ‏@AntiSoulless 1h

@DCDeacon @Spoon_Noob Skyrim
sales by platform:
20m altogether
59% 360
27% ps3
14% PC
More sales are boring anyways. Pft. More money.

Unless the next gen versions can access the Steam Workshop or some other mod site like Skyrim Nexus etc. I wouldn't be interested.

Still havent played the dlc and technically never "beat" the game

So i would be 100% down

Also seems smart for bethesda to practice with the hardware before fallout 4

So I complete Skyrim 100% on Xbox 360 & now it might be on Xbox One. If my save could carry over that would be the only selling point at this time.

I've spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on Skyrim for the 360, and bought the three DLCs. If the PS4 version is real, runs at 1080p, 60fps and includes all DLC, I'll gladly give Bethesda my money again.

I get tired of people saying this.

The resources to do a PS4 port are so negligible that would easily pay for itself. They would simply port over the existing PC version to the PS4 which has a very similar architecture and they could easily farm it out to a smaller up and coming developer.
Yeah it might be the crave for new Elder Scrolls talking in me :)
It can't come too fast.

I loved Morrowind and quite liked Oblivion but skipped Skyrim due to it coming out at a time when I was too busy for a 130 hour game. Plus, the only version that came for something I owned was PS, and everybody trashed that one. So I'd be down for this.

EDIT: Not real? Given the response here obviously it should be. Oh well. That frees up more time to actually have a chance at finishing P4G this year.

It's still a good game without mods. But, at the same time, if you've ever played it with mods, there's just not no going back.

No kidding.

Playing any Bethesda game without mods should be a crime.

Mods for Bethesda games fix the problems Bethesda chooses to ignore, they add tons of content, and more importantly complexity.

Skyrim for example with heavy mods makes it a true rpg not the washed down dumbed down consolized rpg that Bethesda shipped.

I hope not. This double dip cash in HD upgrades have to stop. How about a real sequel? But i guess they need some money to pay for that Elder Scrolls online.

Not gonna happen. Elder Scrolls Online is the last thing we'll hear from that franchise.

Is it just the PS4/XO listing that's they're denying, or is that January 12th date fake too? This thread is getting confusing.

Both.

There's no event. Fallout 4 has NOT been announced or teased yet.

The listing for Skyrim on XBO and PS4 was due to a bug on their website when they changed their CMS. They have debunked it and said that Skyrim is NOT coming to either XBO or PS4.

So basically, Bethesda has not announced or teased anything new. Basically, everything in the OP is wrong , and this thread definitely needs a title change because there's nothing here.

TESO will come out as a monthly paid sub. It will flop like SW:ToR. It will go pseudo-FTP and become modestly successful. And it'll stay that way for a long time. Maybe we'll see another standalone TES game in 10 years.

An entirely different team is working on ESO. I fully expect Elder Scrolls VI to come out in 2016 or 2017.

Honestly, I don't think there's anything in the world right now that would stop Bethesda and Todd Howard's team from making another Elder Scrolls game. Skyrim sold over 20 million copies and was beyond critically acclaimed. Hell, it was considered the game of the generation by quite a few people.

Surely they'll make Fallout 4 before the next Elder Scrolls but there's no doubt it will come eventually. I don't believe the success or failure of the MMO will have any bearing on that whatsoever.

TES6 is probably in pre production right now.
