Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

Zoroark should be a PokeBall Pokemon.

When it comes out of the PokeBall, it should transform to whoever threw the PokeBall then attack opponents and potentially making them confused as to whether that is you or Zoroark. I think other players should be able to attack it, and after 3 attacks, the illusion wears off and it goes away (or not do this part at all, it was just to conform with how if you attack Zoroark in the games, it loses its illusion immediately).

Though it doesn't have to be Zoroark, it could be its pre-evolution, Zorua.

So what Ditto was going to do, but was scrapped because they couldn't get it to work?

I forgot about Ditto being planned for Melee.
It's typical doomsayer attitude. It'll die down eventually.
While some things are stupid (Pachter's "Nintendo should temporarily make games on other consoles" lol), it is completely justified. 3DS isn't selling as well as it should be. Wii U is completely floundering. It isn't doomsaying, it is wanting Nintendo to change so they do better.

It is saddening that like a rhinoceros most are incredibly short-sighted. I am far more interested in the strategy meeting on January 30th. Only then not as a Nintendo fan but as a consumer can I make proper judgment.

I find it funny that magazine uses the Yoshi render the fake character roster did.

Anyone know anything about this? If the date is actually correct, this guy knows what's up. Thing is, I can't find the original post, let alone figure out what forum it's from.

I won't believe any rumour that isn't a bit surprising. This is just characters talked a lot about=> It's fake.

It's fake. He is more likely to make new forum and adjusted the forum date; or photoshopped the forum.

Haha yeah. Some kind of CSS/HTML error or something?

Either way if it really had that date people would've been going crazy about it earlier.

If by CSS/HTML you mean photoshop than yeah =P

Also, I don't have much hopes for a Kanto female alt simply because the POKEMON THENSELFS would need alts too, or this would allow for 2 people to play with completly identical pokemons

What with people wanting Tingle? I get the charm of the character, BUT C'MON! Tingle!? Seriously guys...? Pretty sure there are better options for another Zelda Rep. :/

(Wii fit trainer makes more sense to me so dont bring that excuse D:)

I personally wouldn't mind Tingle but I think that Villager wouldn't have that balloon move if Tingle was in. Tingle had his own Balloon fighter game after all.

It's possible there could be two balloon moves but I doubt it.

I'll never understand why people hate Tingle so much. Even if you don't like him, he's obviously one of the best candidates for a Zelda newcomer. Aside from Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf, he's one of the most recurring characters in the Zelda series, and he's even got his own spin-off games! No other Zelda character has that! He could have an interesting move set that uses his balloons and Rupees.

Yeah, I think the same. Unfortunately, Villager makes Tingle seem much less likely. However, you never know. Smash Bros. characters have shared similar moves before, after all.

Wait, I thought he only got one GBA game....he has more!? o_O

Also, I dont hate him, like I said, I like his charm.

I didn't know half of that stuff about Sakurai and the way characters were introduced or pushed back for future releases, that was a very interesting and informative read IntelliHeat, thanks!

Because Nintendo games are great, but people don't want to buy Nintendo hardware to play them.

I agree that this time the nintendoomed threads are kind of justified, but it would be more bearable if we didn't constantly have them, every moment of the year, 24/24. Also those threads are usually worth nothing, with people saying Nintendo should go 3rd party, release Mario on iOS, make Mario's Duty, create gritty franchises for the sake of it, without any gameplay ideas behind them, just to copy the market, or other similar blasphemies.

Wow....he is more loved then I expected. One of them was a RPG right? Sucks they dont have a chance of making it here,

They're more like adventure games, the second one doesn't even have button control (except in one minigame, where you actually have to buy the control pad to use it). Rosy Rupeeland does have more in common with traditional Zelda though.

Nintendo should give us a Direct with multiple Smash Bros. newcomers, to create enough fanboy fervor and web stories to drown out some of the negativity in the news.

Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland was a great game, with interesting gameplay concepts: you have to pay for everything in the game, recipes, infos, roadblocks, etc. but you have to always choose the price, if you pay too little your money's gone and you won't get anything, if you pay too much you lose more money but you get what you wanted. It was fascinating and the game-world and story were all kinds of crazy.

Edit: by the way, that one was released here in Europe, but sadly not the sequel.

I know, but a lot of people do hate him, and I think all that hate has caused a lot of people to have a low opinion of him, whether you actually hate him or not. When I ask people why they wouldn't want Tingle in Smash Bros., they're usually like "I dunno...because he's Tingle?" ._.

It's only the beginning. It's going to be a bloodbath at the end of the month after Nintendo's earning release.

I really should go back to Rupeeland. Just happened to have a lot of games to play at the time.

But I really enjoyed what I played and the art style is great.

Speaking of the balloon move that villager has, I'm actually legitimately shocked about the fact it seems a balloon fight rep won't be included.

I thought balloon fighter/tripper had far and away the best chance to be the next retro wtf character.

Nintendo CEO and former HAL employee was the lead programmer for the original release, and still loves the shit out of the game. The series has an amazing amount of cameos and other references, from Tingle's Balloon trip, to a 3D version in Wario Ware Smooth Moves, a Nintendoland game, a gameboy sequel, melee trophy, appeaerance in Animal Crossing GC, GBA e-card, tetris DS, pushmo, pictobits, etc., etc....

And then there's the fact that he was initially planned for Melee.

It's an amazing game but you HAVE TO PLAY IT WITH A FAQ, which kinda sucks. They should have made you lose a percentage of rupees each time you underbid or something instead of EVERYTHING. Pretty amazingly bad design decision. The game is still definitely worth playing and a lot of fun if you have a FAQ though.

Well, I think the reason why they didn't include him in Melee or Brawl is because he doesn't really have much in the way of a move set. There's not much to work with, really. But with Villager, I guess they felt that they could just represent Balloon Fight through one of his moves, which is great and all. I figured it would be Tingle that they would do that with, though. I mean, Tingle is basically Balloon Fighter plus much more. He stars in his own Ballon Fight game, after all. :p

Yeah, after playing the beginning about five times and making notes of prices I decided I'd cheat and just look up the optimal prices to make the game more streamlined. Thing is I'm pretty sure I went on holiday while playing it so I put the game down since I wouldn't have easy access to the FAQ while away. Came back and just forgot to go back to it.

Balloon Fighter was never "planned" for Melee — Sakurai knew he wanted to include a single retro NES character, so he made a big list of all the candidates and whittled it down until he was left with the Ice Climbers. The Balloon Fighter was on that initial list, but he was never actually planned to be a playable Smash Bros. character.

I think due to the story about Dr Mario getting in just because they wanted to put his music in the game lead people to believe Balloon Fighter was considered because the music from that game is in Melee too.

But no one ever considers Mach Rider so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
