playing support is so fun when people take advantage of your openings!!!!!!!!!!!

what a good role!!!!!!!

smoke ganks are the best

if i could learn naga siren and get good timing on her ult in conjunction with smoke i think my life would improve drastically as a result

Considering Chinese New Year is the 31st, I'd expect it to be next week.

I don't see that happening. It would be like having an update to bring American gamers into the game by having it on the fourth of July. If the update is to bring in Chinese gamers, having it on a big holiday for them would be pretty bad.

I played Naga once with a tidehunter. No matter how many times we told him to wait, he would pop ravage before song ended. Literally the most cringeworthy thing I've seen playing Dota outside of item choices. You'd think he'd notice after the first time it wasn't working. The saddest one was when I caught all 5 right outside our base. It was our only big stun and just wasted away.

Been screwing around with item and skill builds for Legion Commander in bot matches.

I really like Soul Ring on Legion Commander. Doubles her passive mana regen and gives you burst regen when you need it. I find I've been a lot less mana starved, I actually like Soul Ring more than Drums. Partially because I can get it so quickly but also because you can harass with Press the Attack quite a bit. Although when you throw in Armlet and Blink I start to feel like a shitty Tinker with all of the items and skills I have to start toggle. Soul Ring for mana, W for Press the Attack, toggle on Armlet, Blink and ult.

Starting build: 2 tangos, 1 Salve, 2 Ironwood Branches and a Stout Shield. Soul Ring > Brown Boots > Glove of Haste > Belt of Strength > Blink Dagger > Armlet > Hyperstone > Assault Curaiss > Desolator. People say the Armlet is kind of overkill but it addresses LC's need for armor and attack speed. I guess I could try skipping this and going for AC components earlier.

As for skills, previously I was been going 1-3-1-1 but I've been trying 3-1-1-1 in offlane. The cost and cooldown remain flat, 100 mana at 18 seconds, but you get 150 damage with +18 per unit with each creep wave. It seems like really good harass early and would allow you to establish lane dominance over a squishy early game agi carry and their support in a dual offlane. If it was solo I imagine you'd be using OO to get last hits from under tower, which would be sad. The only downside of skilling Overwhelming Odds over Press the Attack is targets for your ult have to be a fair bit lower in health if you want to walk away from the duel with added damage and not just nuke them when they try to run away with little to no health. Also the slightly longer cast time sucks for trying to help teammates with nasty debuffs on them. Although it's just a 2 second difference.

That sounds good actually. I might have to try it in a few bot matches myself :)

GAF, is anyone unable to shift tab while in game? Or is it just me?

my friend just fed the entire game on purpose out of sheer boredom and we still won

we were about to 4 v 5 to defend our bottom tower and hes like "um why not just push mid" and goes in and takes the towers and the ancient by himself, and the enemy team had no TPs so they couldnt go back home to defend

this fucking game

No idea, I'd like it to be a weapon style.

dualloadout.gif

that looks like the arcana blades (without the smoke ofcourse)

I wonder how your set will look like when the arcana blades is equipped.

dotaGAF, what is the best way to counter Slark?

I feel like he's almost impossible to stop if he starts to snowball even a little

I do. But I am terrible with him. 1-7 win-loss currently. Someone help me :(

I'm thinking of skipping armlet with him. The toggling is tricky as hell in long team fights. Is the FnC build legit?

Just don't jungle with him.

Honestly, every single game I've played with a jungling lifestealer has been a loss. Might as well prepare for a "lifefeeder" when your LS calls "jungle" at the beginning of the match.

Agreed, jungling Naix is pure ass. Considerably less effective than your typical pub junglers like Ursa, Doom or even Lone Druid.

Any way to make twitch VODs watchable? It runs fine for a couple minutes but then I get random bouts of buffering that last 30-50 seconds for every 5 seconds of video. Pausing and letting it buffer doesn't seem to do anything and lowering the quality (when possible) doesn't work and it freezes at exactly the same spots in the video. I can't even skip forward, this shit is dumb.

So I just played a very strange game and wasn't sure what to build. We were down a set of rax ~25 minutes into the game and I didn't really know how do deal with it.

I wound up going Mjollnir+Maelstrom, but would Mjollnir+AC been better? I got the AC later anyway, but was stacking lightning the worse way to go?

Twitch is being a turd lately. Ive been unable to watch any streams for the last 4 days because they refuse to load

Yes. Mjollnir is terrible on Weaver. You should have gotten Desolator and Crit instead. Weaver doesnt need attack speed, because all his DPS comes from Geminate Attack. Its better to just build damage items on him.

Mjollnir is actually pretty shit 95% of the time. Unless youre playing Alchemist, Mjollnir is a massive waste of money IMO. 2.6k gold for + 55 attack speed is retardedly expensive. That money could go towards a million better things (BKB/MKB/Butterfly etc)

I don't jungle. I think LS has a strong lane presence early game so I lane him. Early game is not the issue. I find the mid-game transition to be the hardest because LS tends to be focused down.

The other day, I faced a Doom, Sven, WK and LC team. All fat strength heroes that LS should do well against. But I kept getting focused in team fights and was not able to snowball despite going 3-0 in early game. They bought halberd and kept stunning and dooming me plus Sven just shat out so much damage.

Double lightning definitely feels like overkill, you don't need that much to defend against a single super lane - even considering the Broodmama your team has decent AoE to deal with Spiderlings. With Geminate Attack you'll want some raw damage sooner than later, an early Deso works wonders on Weaver. AC is always nice but I would have let someone else build it if I were you.

Ultimately it didn't matter tho because you had Kaolin

Halberd is one of my new favorite items. I think about building one every game I'm playing a support or a STR carry since low level pubs shit their pants the second their right click stops working.

I jungle him everytime and I always come out guns blazing.
I tend to skip the midas in jungle as well as I feel it takes to long to get the core items up if you go Midas first.

I always go phase ---> armlet ---> (sometimes get drums) sange&yasha ---> basher --> AC --> Abbyssal

I love the extra movement speed I get with drums/yasha combined with the phase boots.

All this stuff seems well designed but I don't really like or care about this Chinese new year aesthetic at all. Wouldn't wear any of that stuff long term for the same reason I wouldn't wear Christmas themed items year round. I understand why Valve is doing it but the entire event seems corny to me. Like, come on, that Necro pagoda hat?

Who cares if it's corny?
There's some really awesome stuff in there....
The Spring ability pack + The 3 Virtues pack are a couple of levels above the rest IMO.
Both of 'em are definite buys for me.
