Do you think Sony will make any more Demon's Souls games?

Overall, Dark Souls is a better, more finely tuned experience than Demon's Soul. That's it. Then, it may also come down to personal tastes and I won't discuss them.

Well I was talking about the pvp and pve balancing which in the latter was quite broken when it came out and kind of still is to this day.

That would make a little bit of sense if the Dark Souls saga did not exist. That's not the case. Right now that's not the case and a Demon's Soul 2 would not bring people on board.

So wait are you seriously telling me that a NEXT GEN Souls game will not bring people on board the PS4 especially since many people do prefer Demons to Dark. Okay then.

While Demon's Soul 2 is coming out... when? I missed the announcement, actually.

DS - 2011
DS2- 2014
DS3 - 2017

Demons souls will definitely be out before 2017. With all the teasing I'm thinking we could see it next year,

You are missing the point here. You show Dark Souls and Deep Down in a demo kiosk or a demo video in a shopping center or in TV. People look at them and may even mistake them for the very same game. And I'm talking about the "people" out of Neogaf. You know, the ones who make 99.9898% of videogame purchases.

You think these two games look alike:

If the average consumer can tell the difference between COD anf BF then by god they can tell the difference between the above two games

With the exception that - again- with Deep Down and Dark Souls 3 (can I hypothize it will be published?) coming out the game will not add that much variety to the PS4 lineup. It is really that simple.

Deep Down is a F2P game and since Demons souls 2 will be coming out before DS3 its clear to see its importance.

Do you want to to fight 200ft+ monsters like the ones in the pic lol. I mean thats too crazy even for Souls. Did you see the size of those giants 0_0

If there s Demons Souls 2 I would Imagine its a collab between SCEJ and FROM just like Demons Souls so I'm not sure why people are saying FROM won't be involved.

Agreed!

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan making a Demons Souls for vita would be cake.
I have played both DS games and honestly they are fine whether online or off. Hell Dark Souls got points for mimicking online play while offline with the invasions and such which was really cool. (Not sure if Demons did that)

Morrigan Stark

Arrogant Smirk
Really don't care if you agree or not, but I don't like playing a new game only to think "Gee, this is awfully familiar". And it wasn't just the Undead Parish and Blighttown, it was all of the Undead Burg as well as the area after Quelaag/Demon Ruins.
Huh? The area after Demon Ruins is... Lost Izalith. You're seriously suggesting that Lost Izalith is "awfully familiar" to Boleterian Palace?! Or anything else in Demon's? Absurd.

Tower of Latria kept coming to mind too.
Where/how?

Catacombs kept making me think of the Shrine of Storms repeatedly, even if the terminator skeletons were not proper skeletons.
Because there are... skeletons? Wow.

If you didin't draw any similar comparisons, well that's just you.
I'm pretty sure that it's just you, mate. Apparently having brick or stone walls in vaguely European architecture is enough for you to think it's not only "similar", but similar to the point where you think it's a rehash. Not only that, but even when the architecture is completely different, such as the Angkor Wat-like Lost Izalith, it's still too similar. I can't imagine what kind of environments would have satisfied you as being new enough at this point.

Not really...

Demon's Souls 2 a Move game confirmed?

Isn't this trolling?

Can sombody explain the difference between the Demons and Dark games? I was only ever able to play Demons Souls for about a half hour in the beginning and it seemed really similar to Dark Souls. Im currently at the Archive in Dark Souls and LOVING this game.

I guess no one saw CES oh well :p

Oh, I did actually. Just not as good as Make.Believe

I prefer that as a slogan, especially appropriate for any software like games, I feel.

Is there a reason we think Sony can go head to head with From Software with a competing product?

Because BanNam might not be in a position to fund a next-gen outing of Dark Souls. Whereas Sony is interested in funding a fully next-gen title.

From is happy as long as they have contracts, and they're probably even happier working on the PS4 as it's exciting.

What doesn't make sense there?

The part where the OP specifically states this is about Sony continuing the franchise without From. Also the part where Bamco can't fund a next gen title.

Dark souls is more open world and has Metroid like exploration elements. Demon's souls doesn't have that, having a nexus and actual levels, so it's a bit different.

A lot of other small things are different, but you will see for yourself soon.

Well, I meant more that Sony is probably not competing with FromSoftware. From is not a competitor, in the sense Namco is. From could still potentially be making DeSo2 for them.

And taking that into account, then it's worth considering that Namco might not want to invest in a considerably more expensive next-gen Souls development, when it's a franchise that has historically sold around 2m on an install base of 60 million+.

It's a good thing that Sony are making some smart moves this generation then right? They would be STUPID to try and do a Souls game alone

will DeS2 be 1080p/60fps

Hasnt Demon Souls 2 been heavily hinted as being in development?

Not hinted, but blatantly confirmed. I don't know why people keep acting like it's not happening in this thread, but I guess their reactions will be hilarious to watch when the official announcement comes.

From has two teams.

Yup, Team A and Team B. Team A is finishing off Dark 2, while Team B is currently watching in the back, smoking a fat one.

Is From Software a big enough studio to be making two games at once?

I would wager that most "mainstream" developers are large enough to make at least two games at once.

Deep Down is your new Demon's Souls.

This was probably supposed to be funny, but it just comes across as ign'ant!

Is From Software a big enough studio to be making two games at once? I don't know much about them outside of the Souls games. And if it isn't From Software who is making a possible Demon's Souls II, who cares? I'm not sure I would trust another dev with the series.

Most studios are big enough to work on two games at once, though one is usually in production while the other is in pre-production. You shift your in house concept artists to the new project once the main project starts chugging along nicely. So I don't doubt that From has something else they are working on right now.

Not sure, but what can they do with Demon's Souls that they can't with Dark Souls?

Have a PS4 exclusive?

Souls is big enough now that people will buy a PS4 for it. Not to mention there's a pretty huge difference between Demons/Dark level structures...

You are pushing it with the gameplay, but outright wrong with the characters being the same.

The games will pretty much have to be different, or at least have something that sets them apart beyond the looks.

I'm saying that Dark Souls is clearly the followup to Demon's Souls. Some of the same characters are in the game, like Patches, and he goes by the exact same name.. The same character tropes including the assassin prisoner, the crest fallen warrior, etc. Similar enemies with similar attacks.. Some of the boss encounters are nearly identical intentionally.

What I'm saying is Dark Souls is clearly a sequel to Demon's Souls in design.... and what I worry about is that there will no longer be the same jump that we had from Demon's to Dark, because now they're being considered separate entities.

I'm saying publishers, and some consumers don't want to see change in sequels.. They want the same damn thing with slight variation.

What I'm worried about is that the jump from Demon's to Dark, which is admirable, won't happen again. Combat is the same, but expanded upon.. game design is similar, but set up in an open world, etc etc... It's just a great expansion.. a large number of changes but still feels like it's built from the same core.

I don't think Dark Souls 2 will see the same amount of change as from Demon's to Dark.
And I hope it's not being cornered into unchanging sequelitis. The fact that they're obnoxiously calling it Dark Souls 2 says as much.

And no folks, I didn't play the beta.

Warning, this is a stupid post.

I wish I had a mind-control device to force all Demon's Souls fans to love Dark Souls more.

The Last Guardian has been confirmed to be in development over and over and over again for the past year. Some people simply can't acknowledge it.

Dark Souls 2 is on the same console as Dark Souls. It's not realistic to expect massive changes.

Whatever this new game is by FROM, I really doubt it will just be a Souls game with prettier graphics. I'm sure it will be doing things not seen or not possible in any of the three Souls games this gen.

i loved it when demons souls released, everyone was on the same page, now look at us bickering like a bunch of fools

From what I've read, Demon's fans are the most accurate and honest when discussing the game's weaknesses and problems, hence why I completely stay away from the Dark Souls' fanbase. You can't properly speak to most of them about the game's design problems; to them the game is perfect when it is clearly flawed in so many ways.

I'll play Demon's Souls soon enough in order to emit a judgment.

Sony would be incredibly stupid to abandon the Demon's Souls IP.They know it's a title that can create a lot of positive buzz among hardcore cycles. And when you launch a new product you need first and foremost the hardcore to support it and generate good word of mouth.Demon's Souls 2 for PS4 may not be a system seller such as GT,Uncharted or Halo but it can really help to paint the image of the console as one that is still aiming to the core gamer.

Now that From Software is developing multiplatform games, do you think Sony will tackle a Demon's Souls 2 without From Software? Would you even want it?

I know I would. Dat next gen Demons Souls. And although relatively niche, I would guess the Souls fans are hardcore enough to buy a console for it.

They can try and i would definitly want them to do so, even the chance of getting a DS like game is good enough to get me exited :)

Also PS4 from just another next gen console would become the absolute must own system of this generation, for me at least, with such a title exclusive

If they deliver of course
