Well, Insomniac made that announcement a while ago :p

They say things, but there was no guarantee these things weren't like to be delayed. I mean I thought it would make it, but I'm glad to see it confirmed. But I am legit surprised Quantum Break is still apparently on target

Saving $100 to get an Xbox One without a disc drive isn't worth it. You won't need to sell too many used games that you're done playing to make up that $100 and if you're going all digital then you're at Microsoft's mercy in regards to game prices.

This is all huge news. I think the white console looks sexy, but like the black. The 1TB drive is what is want. That external storage patch will work though.

Any big-name NON-shooter stuff other than Forza coming out?

Whenever someone shows up and dumps this much info, I get suspicious. Very few people inside Microsoft would have access to such a breadth of topics. Some of this info is already known, or easy to predict.

I've long thought they would never bother with a Halo 2 port. Most fans consider it the weakest Halo, and seeing as they ported the original to 360, it would have made far more sense to port the sequel as well, as the engine work had already been done at that point. A Halo 2 announcement at this E3 would be met with a lot of yawns at this point.

Yawns? Really?

Suspicious won't be the right word; "Nervous" would be it. I like leaks like these and I'm nervous that a truthbomb like this maybe this year's biggest, and we might not see more. I hope we see more!

All we need now is CBOAT to show up lol.

He/she basically just confirmed 2 games I had no idea were coming this year FH2 and Halo 2 Anniversary among the other stuff. Gives us a firm timetable on when we should be expecting various releases. Also confirmed Halo 5 is getting delayed and Crackdown 3 is coming. Megaton worthy imo.

Fair enough. To each their own.

It is certainly one way to liven up a Wednesday.

:)

Have you played with either Spinal or Fulgore yet? And have you heard anything about Season Two for Killer Instinct? Thanks again for all the great stuff man!

You forgot the Sunset Overdrive SKU in October (the 1TB is separate, coming in November)

Are you sure it's a SKU and not 2 different items in one post? There is a white SKU coming as well as sunset overdrive in October. Not sure if that's a "Sunset Overdrive SKU"

My mistake. I see, the white console is coming out along with SO. For some reason I put the two together.

So wait...who is this guy?...not looking for a witch hunt or who he really is, but a guy who signs up and his first posts ar a ton of leaks is kinda suspicious to say the least

Halo 2... the one game that can make me get an Xbone. If it has Multiplayer I'm in. If it's coming on 360 as well then I don't really care to get an xbone.

I just realized that a discless console would actually be exactly what Microsoft originally wanted before the whole 180. I bet they'll slowly and surely bring back the fine details to their original DRM stance. This is exciting in a way.

My brother plays digital only so something like this is money for him. A $299 PS4 with no optical drive would kill the market.

Wow, that's a lotta big bombs out of the blue.

I'd also like to know if and when there's kinectless sku?

He already said it might have a $399 SKU this year, but only without an optical drive perhaps. Presumably that implies Kinect remains so far.

Just to be clear; cboat was never formally identified by any of us. He or she developed a reputation by posting obviously real NPD numbers and internal publishing documents years and years ago before most of us were moderators. The reason we verify purported insiders is not to protect us (no sweat off our back to delete or lock the posts or wait until the rumour comes true or false and then perm them or just perm them until what they say comes true) but rather to protect them (so that if they say something and it ends up getting changed--because lots of things are subject to change--we have a basis for believing that they weren't making it up to begin with). When you hear something from CBOAT, your mental filter is "This is a guy who has said a bunch of stuff over a long period of time including some stuff that was obviously true and private but I have no idea who he is and some of it didn't quite shake out in the end."

I have no idea who ntkrnl is. bishoptl (who has been very public about his own name and background in the industry) verified his identity as someone who would in theory be able to know the kinds of things he's saying. We keep confidence of people who talk to us and bishoptl wouldn't and shouldn't tell me who ntkrnl is. When you hear something here, your mental filter is "This guy appears to be verified by GAF moderators as someone who potentially could know the kinds of things he's saying." We can't and couldn't verify that someone is telling the truth, only that they appear to be someone who could know this stuff based on their position or identity. Of course it could also be that he's Phil Spencer and playing a giant trick on us all. If Phil Spencer asked me to vouch for him in confidence, I'd say yes, and then he could post that Microsoft was buying Nintendo and making a game where Master Chief runs for congress, and I'd have no way of determining if that's true or not, only that theoretically someone in his position could vouch for it.

Thuway and famousmortimer have never been verified at all, and in fact they are both abundantly clear that they are NOT industry insiders. They both give their real names and professions publicly. They make it clear that in both their cases, they talk to people in the industry. In FM's case, I think it's not so much that he did talk to people in the industry, but rather his success with the PS4NoDRM thing got him connections to talk to some people in the industry. So when you hear something from either of these people, you know "This is something from people who appear to be connected, but don't have any first hand information because they're not in the industry. So are they using discretion in terms of choosing their sources or the certainly or degree to which they present the claims they heard?"

Three totally separate cases.
Thanks stump, I thought thurway was a verified insider...huh.

Yup.

Until Sony and Microsoft feel secure enough with this generation to risk the ire of retailers, digital prices will continue to be fucked.

Hot damn at all these leaks, this guy must be going out in fire. Definitely lots of interesting stuff to look forward to. The one thing I will say is that if they can't get 60fps on Halo 2, I give up. Well, depending on how Crackdown ends up and if it gets on PC...

An optical-disc-free system will be interesting given a large amount of the DRM protests were in fact about physical media. Definitely a bold move, I just can't get into all-digital atm when even game updates are 13GB. There are plenty of others however with much better internet so I'd like to see how that strategy works.

All things considered...he's correct about all this.

Will going without a disc drive really save them that much? Well whatever, if they want to push DD I'd rather they cut to the chase and recognize that being a closed box there's no need for always online crap.

I'm gonna be pissed if they're not 1080p

Thanks for answering and glad we both agree. Your response gave me a smiley face :). It's understandable for a new console to go through its rough patches especially with launch games, and I hope over time, system tools can improve, and the console can produce modern games at 1080p. It should have been a target among hardware engineers when designing the console. It may sound miniscule, but people care about it greatly, and many people are shying away from the console because of it.

People need to stop going to this. I can't fathom MS selling the Xbox One without Kinect.

The Kinect isn't really required anymore, so why add it on? Sure, it might because they want big support for it but with the DRM turnaround Microsoft did earlier, I can see a Kinect-less SKU being a possibility now.

That's what I'm wondering. A disc drive can't cost that much and it'd only really serve to reduce the size of the box. But I guess maybe with the early batch of faulty drives, they figure the less moving parts, the better.
