I've been listening to both the soundtracks for Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency. I think the Phantom Blood OST doesn't get the respect it deserves as I don't hear anybody ever talk about it. Of course Battle Tendency had Iwasaki so of course it was going to be good :) Any word on who is composing Stardust Crusaders OST?

Iwasaki created the ultimate everything's going insane,
Kars is the ultimate life form, and his hand is a squirrel
theme. When I remember that moment, I remember this song.

I've actually only seen Fumoffu, as a one off thing on Netflix a long while ago. I enjoyed it well enough (and thought it was like an AU thing for FMP, so I never watched the first show or Second Raid).

The Medusa fight wasn't bad. Still liking the comedy that's all there, there's a lot of little things that happen that amuses me so.

Definitely an improvement over the hectic and very confusing first episode. The tone and pacing just feel better, it's like a different show altogether in my opinion. I'm still very impressed with the animation and painterly backgrounds, it's definitely top notch.
The story so far somewhat reminded of the movie Frequency, and I'm quite interested if the same thing will happen here.

This is more or less a rather lazy interpretation of an impersonal war, and even outside of the production issues there's not really much of interest here. There are no particular strategies to bring something of interest to the battle and make it feel real, the sense of scale isn't really captured at all, and the movement and positioning of troops and characters is largely ignored. There's not a strong perspective or character that's really latched on to here, so instead the battle is defined by the dry high school philosophical meanderings of the leaders being thrown at one another. The consistent one-upsmanship that defines the flow of the fighting reads like non sequitur parlor tricks. Also, why even bother to show Alibaba last episode if he doesn't exist in this one?

I didn't really have any problems with Gonzo FMP aside from one particular scene that was supposed to be dramatic but instead there was fanservice everywhere and it made me feel slightly uncomfortable watching it.

I posted this a while back but I think my biggest complaint about Fumoffu was that it transformed Sousuke from an incredibly socially incompetent guy that was always focused on military stuff to a character that quite literally could not grasp basic human interaction and starting doing dumb shit like fucking blowing up lockers wounding other students at the school. I know its supposed to be like comedy side stories but I read that its technically supposed to occur after the events of the first season.

I don't really have a problem with this because I don't think of Fumoffu as fitting within the continuity of the rest of the series. It's a comedic spinoff where most things are played for gags.

Are you talking of the scene near the beginning where
they're having a heart to heart talk about sacrificing themselves then all of a sudden she escapes with a comical sound and a 3 second upskirt?
cause if so that really grinded my gears.

I was referring to when (episode 9ish?)
her, Sousuke, and Kurz are stranded in that foreign country and her whispered powers start "activating." Like they're talking about life and death and believing in each other and whatnot meanwhile the camera is constantly reminding me she has like no pants/clothes on.

I followed it mostly. I do get the feeling that a lot of detail from the source material is getting dropping that makes some aspects a bit hard to get though. Too bad the show is way ahead of the translations though. The show is from what i can gather into book 6 of 10 whilst the translation is up to book three.

Certainly lots of family politics in this episode.

Fumoffu is a completely independent spinoff series.
Its kind of like how Nurse witch Komugi is a spinoff of Soul Taker. Except soul taker is bad and nobody remembers it.

I was legitimately laughing all throughout 12, which was the first time I legitimately laughed at anything in this show, so bravo, it ended on a high note. But still, that doesn't excuse things like in 11 playing with my expectations.

All in all... it was pretty meh. Entertaining at points, but meh.

I think that bit of Bishop dialogue in the next episode preview is the most Miyano-ish I've heard him get in the role so far. They must have so much fun recording those.
An otome game with Nonoha as the protagonist would be... interesting.

Fun fact: since Nobunaga the Fool is also airing this season, Mamoru Miyano and Takahiro Sakurai are playing opposite roles for boss-assistant pairs in two shows at the same time (Nobunaga/Mitsuhide and Rook/Bishop).

Gawdamn, Harutora went super badass on Shaver, from zero to hero. Ever since this second half of Tokyo Ravens started its been nothing but a ride of awesome onmyouji battles.

Man, what a great adaptation.. they fully realize manga wackiness, the "fight" between two side is actually just trolling contest lol

A bit shame they must resort with using CGI for Medusa, but at least we finally get non-CGfied Kagari's form and Evermillion, yay!
