I still need to get on that Sonic Mania and Hellblade, but at this point I'm waiting for a sale. Also missed out on Gravity Rush 2. I guess catch up time will be from November on.

Same. I only liked 2 games this year. Nier which has a terrible middle part and NiOh which is way too long for the amount of actual content it has.

Absolutely. Yakuza 0, Nioh and Zelda are all in the top 5 games I've played this gen. Add in Battlefront 2 and Pokémon and it's right up there.

Also FYI both Crackdown 3 and No No Kuni were delayed to 2018 so neither should be on the list in the OP.

At the risk of devolving into ListWarz™, 1998 had OoT, MGS, Half Life, StarCraft, Baldur's Gate, Unreal, Point Blank, Gran Tourismo, Pokemon Red/Blue, Spyro and Banjo Kazooie. It was a year for the founding of dynasties.

To bring it back to the central topic; I think 2017 is in the same league as years like 1998 or 2004.
