3/4s through the year. What are you favorite games so far?

Right now I would say...

1) Nier Automata
2) Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
3) Resident Evil 7
4) Yakuza 0
5) What Remains of Edith Finch
6) Pyre
7) Persona 5
8) Gravity Rush 2
9) Yakuza Kiwami

I just started playing Danganronpa V3 and I'm sure I will love Wolfenstein 2. I also could play Horizon, Nioh, Prey or a bunch of indies by the end of the year.

Yakuza 0
Horizon Zero Dawn
Gravity Rush 2
Tokyo Xanadu
Yakuza Kiwami

I expect Danganropa V3 to be in the list by years end as well and perhaps also Everybody's Golf (just started playing it) and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (haven't started it yet).

Perhaps Steamworld Dig 2 and Life is Strange but I haven't bought them yet.

Hmm I'll tier them.

S:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Blew me away, possibly my favourite game of all time. The world just pulled me in and I had 120 hours logged before I knew it.

A:
Persona 5 - Solid game with a ton of polish and overall refinements, but followed the formula set by P3 too heavily.
NieR: Automata - Great game, fun to control, fantastic music and story. Platinum's combat expertise wasn't used to potential though, and fights were lacking complexity.

B:
Metroid: Samus Returns - Solid return of 2D Metroid. Refined controls with nice additions, and amazing boss fights that are much better than the ones from the previous games.
ARMS - Fantastic new IP. Really easy to get into and I've had some great matches with more 'casual' players.

C:
Gravity Rush 2 - Fantastic presentation and neat ideas, but didn't improve enough on the downfalls of its predecessor.
Nioh - Really fun combat here, but I found it a bit repetitive and the loot system sucks and makes exploration incredibly unfulfilling (random Diablo style drops).
Splatoon 2 - Haven't played as much of this as I'd have liked, but the first was an incredible game that just worked, but this feels a little too similar to it. Didn't feel it had its own identity.

I don't have to make a big list. Right now it's between Danganronpa V3 and Nier: Automata. Despite being a little disappointed in the end, Automata was a wholly unique experience. I really wish I had played the original game first.

Danganronpa V3 could win out in the end, though. It feels like they really ramped things up out of the gate. My biggest issue with Goodbye Despair is that I wasn't feeling it until the final two cases. Hoping it keeps up this quality throughout and that the Steam cards weren't actually spoilers. Sucks that you can't disable them.

Gravity rush 2, persona 5, and horizon were good. Never finished them tho.

Haven't played nier enough to pass a fair judgment.

Pes 2018 is good but the reoccurring issues are becoming more of an issue to me now.

Having a lot of fun with PUBG but Tianfall 2 or Hollow Knight would take goty for me right now (can't remember if T2 was this year), I can't see anything this year overtaking them either tbh.

So far for me it's

Splatoon 2
Horizon
Persona 5
Destiny 2
Golf Story

Still have really high hopes for South Park, Mario, and maybe cuphead.

well kinda almost everything I've played to be honest so
- nioh
- nier a
- yakuza 0, kiwami
- hollow knight
- trails in the sky 3rd
- dragon quest 11
not from this year
- ao no kiseki
- severed
probably forgetting 1 or 2

If I had to pick among this stellar list some standouts it would be Yakuza 0, DQ11, Ao and Nier A. 2017 is just godly.

Mine in order:

1) Nier Automata
2) Zelda BOTW
3) Horizon Zero Dawn
4) Destiny 2
5) Persona 5

It's been a great year so far, there's still tons of great stuff on the way though so this list will most likely change.

I don't really keep up with this in my head but I'll put some games down...

divinity: original sin 2 and Cuphead are great games I'm still playing so they're not in the list

in no particular order, except perhaps what popped in my head immediately:

Night in the Woods
Everything
Breath of the Wild
Resident Evil 7
Horizon
Hollow Knight
Prey

I look at stuff like Prey and RE7 man, these games from the AAA industry that are relatively big, imperfect, niche single-player games that just seem like they were made for me, and considering the industry as it is I feel pretty lucky.

lots of stuff I still need to play like Hellblade, Destiny 2, and a couple others.

My absolute favorite so far is probably Hollow Knight.

p1_2277073_24308bff.jpg

Everything about this game feels right - beautiful visuals, tight controls, fun exploration, cool npcs and bosses, great soundtrack, mysterious and intriguing lore - but it's the flawless consistency of it all that makes it such a joy to play.

It's been some time since I've loved a game that much. Can't wait for the Grimm Troupe dlc.

I haven't played a lot of games this year. The only ones I've played are Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident Evil 7 and Destiny 2.

From those, BOTW easily takes the 1st spot with Resident Evil 7 and Destiny 2 tied in 2nd. I was completely bored with Horizon so I don't think that deserves a place on my top 3 or 5 or whatever.

My top ten so far...

1. Hellblade
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
3. What Remains of Edith Finch
4. Prey
5. Hollow Knight
6. Zelda Breath of the Wild
7. Cuphead
8. Mario+Rabbids
9. Hob
10. Nioh

honorable mentions:

- Gravity Rush 2
- Nier Automata
- PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
- Resident Evil 7
- Rime
- Ruiner
- The Sexy Brutale
- Uncharted Lost Legacy
- Yakuza 0

i'd probably say horizon: zero dawn. the fact it's literally the only game i remember coming out this year that i've played says it all really. i do have lost legacy and prey still to play which i'll likely enjoy.

In all media, only true fans who consume every book, film, game, or pog collection deserve to know what's going on.
I haven't played alot of these, but I have a tie for my number 1 so far.

Zelda BOTW
Cuphead

Breath of the Wild has been my main game so far this year. Sunk 155 hours into it so far and haven't really put it down since launch (not touched The Master Trials yet but slowly approaching the end of the main quest).

Other than that dipping in and out of Splatoon 2 and cracking on with Metroid Samus Returns. So those are my favourites of they year as they're really the only games I'm playing.

My top 5 so far in no particular order are.

Zelda Breath of the Wild
Splatoon 2
Uncharted The Lost Legacy
What Remains of Edith Finch
Rime

Splatoon is the one I just keep going back to.

Of the games I've bought and played so far, these are the standouts:

1. Breath of the Wild
2. Nier: Automata
3. Prey
4. Metroid: Samus Returns

I'm eagerly awaiting Destiny 2 (PC) and Battlefront 2 to join that list and then that's probably it for the rest of the year.

Divinity: Original Sin II
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Nioh
Persona 5
Prey
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Robo Recall
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap
Yakuza 0

Ripped these from OP. There's been way more games I've enjoyed this year, but these are the ones I'll absolutely loved and will happily revisit some point in the future. I'll toss in an honorable mention for Dead Cells, it's still early access but it scratches the roguelike platformer better than anything else has and I love every update they put in.

BOTW
Nioh
HZD
ULL
D2

I have spent the most time with D2, bought a Switch just to play BOTW, Nioh was the biggest surprise of the year so far, ULL made Uncharted fun again and HZD is guerilla's best game to date.

My current Top Ten:

1. Persona 5
2. Resident Evil 7
3. Dead Cells
4. Prey
5. Steamworld Dig 2
6. Pyre
7. Disgaea 5 Complete
8. Shovel Knight: Ultimate Treasure Trove
9. Horizon: Zero Dawn
10. TIE: Outlast 2/Sonic Mania/Destiny 2

I played a number of other older games I'd never touched until this year and some of those would beat out a few of the titles I've listed above, but this year was still a damn great year for games. What's crazy is that there's only more to come. My current list of games I've PLAYED (NOT NECESSARILY BEATEN) this year is at 116 right now.
