At work and the net is slow. Can someone do me a solid with a short summary.
It's worth seeing the level of shitheadedness and to realise just how much he was twisting the narrative. At this point it is very clear what sort of person he isMan Fyre.
The guy said he understood he fucked up and realized he messed up and holds no grudge against 343 or MS.
You and the reddit folks are the only ones pushing this further and further. We got it, he is an shithead.
Man Fyre.

But interfering with the livlihood of hundreds of people by inderectly or directly trying to start up a faux scandal to damage a brand is okay?
Sometimes doing good is an uncomfortable affair that causes conflict.
Of the peaceful means of fighting back against bigotry in our own community, interfering and harming their personal life though exposure is a very effective method.
We need people like this to not feel comfortable in gaming at all.
So since 343 offered him a position, did this guy just not accept it before quitting his old job?? I mean, it seems pretty clear that he made substantial steps in accepting their offer... ?

I'm in no way defending him.Won't somebody please think of the bigot!
I
Posted his comments on the matter.
Again you aren't reading what I'm saying- or atleast you aren't comprehending it.
Not hiring him is one thing.
Knowing about his comments, telling him that they will hire anyway, and then not hiring him is a different thing entirely.
Seeing some more of the comments he made, it's becoming more and more clear that hiring him would be a bad idea.
So it would have made sense to do the second pass on his social media BEFORE telling him that they were going to hire him despite his comments...
I disagree and think they should interfere. People should absolutely try to find what companies have reached out to him and be sure they know what type of human being they're allowing to have a place in this industry and community we all want to enjoy.Do you mean the CC video he posted a year ago while claiming that he hasn't posted anything about CCs in over 2 years?
No of course that's terrible too.
Some were talking about ensuring he's never hired again. Which I take it involves contacting any company that extends him a job offer and pointing them to this stuff.
Like I said, exposing someone who made a public figure of themselves is one thing, and if that has fallout for them, their fault. But people here shouldn't actively try to interfere in his personal life.

Oh I get you, at this point what more is there to say. But the details coming out about the actual shit he has said was worth getting out, but yeh at this point his fate is signed, sealed, and deliveredI'm in no way defending him.
This is turning into a witchhunt and I think it was pretty clear that this isn't allowed on GAF?
He didn't get the job and the more details surfaced it was obvious he shouldn't get it. So? He got what he deserved?
Fyre has a personal problem with him because Fyre belonged to the CC group that the Multi dude targeted.
Oh, I'm very interested in hearing about what company hires him next.Next up: 4 companies rescinded their job offers.
I'm in no way defending him.

I'm certain many others would be very interested in that information as well.

People really need to learn what ”witch hunt" means. It's accusing someone without evidence, not finding MORE evidence that justifies a punishment.
I disagree and think they should interfere. People should absolutely try to find what companies have reached out to him and be sure they know what type of human being they're allowing to have a place in this industry and community we all want to enjoy.
It's better off chasing out bigots like him.

Well then I always misinterpreted the word. Then I'll change it to "piling on to him"I don't think you understand what 'witchhunting' actually involves, especially in regards to GAF's definitions of it. Almost all threads that were closed due to witchhunting were the result of false evidence and people being blamed who were innocent, not people who were being outed as bigoted morons who have no remorse and genuinely believe the stupid things they say online.
Good post.

Like others have said, the only one getting anything out of it is were whiny reddit babies who were once hurt by his comments and started a disgusting online detective action against him.
343? Lost the chance to a fairly talented guy, and they are in need of someone who gets mapdesign (their dlc maps for Halo 5 were all trash)
Multi? Well the job for a franchise he loves
The fans? A bigger chance at good maps.
Like who?Focusing on exposing and flushing out specific individuals is really not an effective way of actually combatting these attitudes in society. It just means that smarter people hide those attitudes until they get to a position of relative power that they can't be fired so easily.
Also any single individual is not the source of the problem. Even if you succeed in forcing them out of the industry that doesn't actually go anywhere to fixing entrenched social issues, discrimination, or changing minds.
Plus, it goes both ways. People can also take up a personal vendetta and interfere with your life because they disagree with your opinions and think they're immoral and harmful by being 'progressive'. This has happened and people have gotten fired thanks to hateful mobs who aren't happy with their liberal attitudes.
crap attracts more crap, I supposeI don't understand why anyone would go out of their way to defend an openly homophobic and transphobic piece of shit .
Like why? someone help me.
you sure about the meaning? I thought the term was used for a group gathering and searching for stuff about a person who is said to be a danger to society? And a short google search seemed like it could be used for this aswell.
And he already got the punishment? I mean what do you think 343 does now to him?

Really?
Because it sure as hell sounds to me like you are defending this piece of shit.
Just my opinion (IANAL), but I think companies have social responsibilities in such cases. Do a better due diligence on your candidates, ffs. You can't change your mind after someone quits his job and sell it's house..
No, I don't buy any of that 'not the right method' take on bigotry in our gaming industry. Singling out and chasing off people who hold bigotry close to them is one of the most important methods for not making them feel welcome in society, as it should be.Focusing on exposing and flushing out specific individuals is really not an effective way of actually combatting these attitudes in society. The games industry is small world enough that pretty much anyone in a position to hire is aware of this now. But then, there are devs with Gamergaters in their ranks so its not impossible hed get hired. There are people with a mentality similar to that expressed by some here; that his interpersonal skills dont matter as long as he can make good maps.
Like who?
Tell you what, we'll ignore your 'advice' and continue to give these people the exposure they so greatly deserve. A few heads on pikes goes a long way to enforcing correct social norms - this sheetcake nonsense you're advocating means nothing in the real world.
Adria Richards was fired from her company after her complaint about an allegedly sexist joke got another dev fired, and then a hateful mob descended upon her, DDoSing her employer's website until they fired her.
That's the one I was thinking of at the moment. And seriously, "a few heads on pikes"? Yeeeesh. I don't want any part of that.
So don't out racists/homophobes/transphobes because they'll summon a horde of other shitheels to harass you or your company. Interesting take.
That's not at all the point I was making. Don't live up to the Junior stereotype please.

Dudes a homophobe and transphobe and we still have people here defending him!! Wow! That's not transparent at all.
I was on the wrong page, read old posts. That's my bad. I'll edit.I see no one defending him after those infos came out?
I want to make this again very clear:
Yesterday I thought his trashing of 343 in general (he named no names and just talked bad about the company itself) and of talking bad about the CC system was all he did. And others who did that are now working in similiar jobs.
it was already appearant that he is an asshole but he already said he is fine with not getting the job.
Over the hours more details surfaced, and I learned about the bigotry and other comments he made. As someone who is bi himself I am not even remotely defending him or accepting anything he made in those directions.
He shouldn't get the job ( he didn't) and he should not become a public figure. I was merely suggesting stopping into digging more and more into a past and using this thread to now hunt for more and more eventhough there nothing anymore to gain, he is no streamer that should have no influnece anymore, he didn't get the dev job and I think if 343 got those infos through a background check then other devs will aswell.
He is a human piece of garbage. He didn't get the job. But I'm scared this will go into doxxing territory.
Like, who said this? Also I hope you're not a homophobe or transphobe too.I've posted some shitty things on forums before.
Nice to know there's a large number of people who think I should never be able to earn another paycheck again.
https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comme...s_has_revoked_multilockons_job_offer/dnkrdge/
"He got offered a job by 343 but immediately afterwards a Reddit user pointed out that two months ago he said nobody at 343 deserves their job. Looking at recent posts also showed he singled out two individuals at 343 as turds, said he hated a certain employee there and jokingly said he'd like to "Spartan charge them in real life", and made other less-than-flattering ad hominem statements about people there. There were also a few threads where he was just responding with laughter to a comment about hypothetical nudes of a female member of 343 and was just part of a discussion where someone described two of the studio's female employees performing sex acts on the commenters. Maybe not a big deal because he wasn't the one making the statements, but could be pretty awkward working with him simply because of his responses to the posts. As a result, 343 naturally withdrew the offer because you can't behave that way in public toward your would-be coworkers and bosses and expect to be hired. This sucks for him, of course, because he had already quit his old job and was in the process of moving to Washington. It is horrible that 343 didn't know about this stuff until he'd already been given the go-ahead. Edit: He has also made all kinds of ignorant transphobic posts, posts saying people choose to be gay, etc. No idea whether that was part of the decision once they started looking into him or not but I do know that kind of stuff wouldn't fly at 343."
What else are we missing?
also hot off the reddit presses
I'm sure the trans employees at 343 really want someone that called them clinically insane a month ago working next to them.
