It's back to cross-gen now? Dude is really just typing crap now for clout... sad state.
You are in a thread where the same dude said RE8 is next-gen only two months ago.Not surprised. RE 8 should be cross-gen because with such a small user install base that PS5/XSX/XSS will have, Capcom would be taking a massive risk. The game was built for current gen/cross-gen anyway like every game is for the first two years or so.
I will be playing RE 8 on Xbox Series X so it doesn't matter for me personally but as a fan of Capcom for the last few years, I do want to see the game sell past their expectations which will only happen if it's cross-gen because you can't just throw away 160m users between PS4/XB1. That would be horrible business.

Now he says it is cross-gen like he said early this year.
He is basically a liar.
C’mon you believe Capcom changed the plans three times this year between cross-gen and next-gen over an unknown dude on Twitter lying? It's not that he's a liar. It's literally because Capcom decided to go back to it being cross-gen which is what it always was to begin with. RE 8 is a massive project for Capcom that's costing them a shit ton of money. They simply can't afford to throw away 160m potential buyers. That would be a horrible business decision. Besides, being next gen only wouldn't matter much because the game itself was built to be cross-gen.

That framerate looked rough. Is this going to be 30fps on the new consoles?

How it is not related to him? He is changing what he says time to time.Has NOTHING to do with Dusk Golem or anyone else for that matter. If they indeed went back to being cross-gen, it's for one reason and one reason only - MONEY.
It's a possibility but doubt at this point has the Vegas odds easily.
How it is not related to him? He is chancing what he says time time.
It is contradictory like liars do.
He is making up stuff. He's telling you what others have told him. He's simply saying what his sources have told him. Maybe he'll be right, maybe he won't be. What I do know is that Capcom can't afford to have the game bomb or under-perform. Best way to guarantee the game succeeds is by it being cross-gen.
He is making up stuff.
Nobody will keep telling him opposite info each month lol
I believe Capcom was trying to do something similar to what Open cities mod did to Skyrim, there was no transition loading screen to cities or shops, the entire city or in this case village is running on the background, the FPS just tanks. The assets didn't look amazing to me though. It looked like current gen with 15 FPS...
I don't believe cross gen is necessarily a good idea. It's not that he's a liar. It's literally because Capcom decided to go back to it being cross-gen which is what it always was to begin with. I hope its just that, and i was not looking forward to buying a PS5/Series on fist yearHis Source is trolling him right now LMAO

The problem is that it lower expectations, Capcom has pushed REngine to its limits with R3make, they CAN'T make Village look any better than that game on current gen, and RE3 was very very linear while 8 is gonna be much more open, that will bring issues.
Im not sure VILLAGE can create the same impact RE7 had in 2017, RE8 thing was that its the first true next gen Resident Evil experience pushing the visuals to higher limits than before, there will be no hype about the visuals, less discussion not doing that anymore im worried it will lower interest and be ignored like Revelations 2 that was cross gen, or even RE3 that sold much less than 2.
Cross gen didn't mean more sales in the case of Revelations 2 it just made gamers see it as lesser
Look at it this way, Capcom has promised for months RE VILLAGE is a real next gen RE experience, when its not.
Well i think Revelations 2 is one of the better RE games, and despite its name very important for the series, story and Capcom themselves, the Revelation series paved the way for modern RE2 and RE7.RE 8 started development as a cross-gen game. Cross-gen or not, that fact doesn't change nor does it make the next gen version any better because it was never designed or built for only the next gen consoles. The game will look great overall and on next gen consoles, look even greater.
It's not the first true next gen RE because it wasn't developed for next gen only. The visuals aren't going to be what is the draw of RE 8. The draw is that Capcom is doing stuff that they haven't done before in RE and majority will want to see how that all plays out while playing the game. Visually the game will look as good or better than REmake3 which looked excellent.
REmake3 sold less than REmake2 because they cut out a lot of content and released it way too soon after REmake2 which is a far better game to begin with. The visuals weren't the issue. It was everything else. RE 8 is going in a different direction and while I had my doubts at first, seeing the trailers, I believe it's going to be a damn good RE game.
Revelations 2 was ignored because first, it was episodic which isn't going to work for RE. Second, it was a sequel to a 3DS game. Expectations should have been pretty low to be honest. And third, the game wasn't that good and yes, I completed it. Also, Revelations is a spin off. Not the main series.
Cross-gen isn't going to lower the interest. If anything, it will increase it because you'll now have more eyes on the game. Next Gen only, you're looking at maybe 20m total between both platforms. Not all 20m or so are going to care about RE 8. In fact, vast majority probably won't.
Capcom promising what RE 8 is going to be is just marketing bullshit. What else do people expect them to say? "Yeah, it's next gen only but was always meant to be cross-gen but buy it anyway". Like seriously, if anything people need to keep their expectations in check because all RE 8 needs to do is be better than RE 7 and it will be.
Granted, not everyone will like it better but I believe the majority will because the scope and ambition that Capcom has for this title goes beyond visuals. Werewolves are in the game. I never expected that in a RE game but here we are.
If RE 8 is next gen only, regardless of how great the game ends up being, it's going to under-perform for the simple reason of the user install base being too small. If it's cross-gen, it will be a success simply because of huge user install base between PS4 and XB1 combined. Plus PC.
Overall, I don't believe anyone should be worried either way when it comes to if RE 8 will be a quality game and in this regard, I believe that it will be so barring Capcom's 30 minute RE 8 gameplay walkthrough being a disaster, I believe that the vast majority will be very happy with the game. Cross-gen or not, I will say for me personally that despite not being a fan of RE in first person, im way more hyped for RE 8 than I was RE 7.
Well i think Revelations 2 is one of the better RE games, and despite its name very important for the series, story and Capcom themselves, the Revelation series paved the way for modern RE2 and RE7.
Anyways,i don't doubt the quality regardless, RE VILLAGE is my most hyped game next or current gen, but visuals are a huge part of what drives millions of gamers to buy single player content, i wouldn't be shocked if it ends up selling worse than 7 and 2 because it doesn't 'look' as fresh, maybe im wrong and just worried, i hope its just that :S
Edit: i said that about next gen only because Dusk Golem was pretty clear the last gen versions were abandoned at some point because they were holding the project back and after watching the first two trailers i believe him. Wouldn't make sense for Capcom to announce the next gen versions first instead of at the same time like basically all other companies
4K30fps Ray tracing enabled may be? and 4K60fps without ray tracing? That framerate looked rough. Is this going to be 30fps on the new consoles?
Bull, shit.
Nothing in that trailer couldn't be done on current gen...
I hope its just that, and i was not looking forward to buying a PS5/Series on fist year
VILLAGE looks like a game that will be constrained by current gen, should be plenty ambitious compared to the previous ones on REngine.
However it DOES look like a current gen game so far so its not out of the question (the character models, textures, lighting effects look significantly worse than other next gen games like Ratchet or that SE one). I was hoping that would change as they were supposed to be working on updating the graphics(as it was still even using 'Revelations 3' assets) for a year. But it could be that they decided to use that money to bring the now last gen versions back.
Get your eyes checked!
I too am hoping for a ton of physics and interaction being the holy next gen grail. Won’t happen if game is cross gen.Looks like an uprezzed PS4/ X1 title, though. Maybe it looks much better in motion or has a ton of physics, water and particle effects. Wait and see, I guess.
So now during the Capcom Special Program, producer Kanda-san mentioned that they're examining-contemplating the possibility of the game being on current-gen, even though their vision and priority for this game is to be next-gen (i.e. PS5, Xbox Series X). But he said, no promises made that it's gonna end up cross-gen for sure.
Today’s hardware is an issue for next gen games it’s not rocket science why rip Capcom for this decision
The problem is RE VILLAGE was 100% cross gen (and Revelations 3) before reveal, the trailer looked a little rough but with one year of development the graphics would look much more polished with time.Looks like an uprezzed PS4/ X1 title, though. Maybe it looks much better in motion or has a ton of physics, water and particle effects. Wait and see, I guess.
They DID intented cross gen, but now its not 100% sure it will or not, if we see PS4/ONE releases i wouldn't be surprised if its months after PS5/SeriesPC.Yeah i bet this was just PR bullshit and they always intended to release the game to current gen platforms.
They will release it on PS5, Series X and PC. And they will try to put it on PS4 and XBO too if possible, but said they can't promise anything.I'm kinda lost here, they said the game was coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and Steam. Now they are saying it may also come to PS4 and Xbox One? And what about Xbox Series X?
Thank you. What about Series S?They will release it on PS5, Series X and PC. And they will try to put it on PS4 and XBO too if possible, but said they can't promise anything.
They never mentioned it, in fact almost nobody mention it unless it's a console exclusive. I assume that when they Series X they mean Series X+ Series SThank you. What about Series S?
