It's time for another Amazing Race! We're up to season 22 now where eleven teams of two with pre-existing relationships will race around the world for a chance to win a million dollars!

Special to this season is that they are removing the Double Your Money prize in last season cause that was a total bust and instead the first team to arrive at the initial pit stop would again receive an Express Pass for themselves, but in a new twist, an additional express pass to be given to another team of their choosing before the fourth leg.

China Rush nicely filled the void between last season and this one.

I was going to try the Vietnam and Philippines versions, but I couldn't do it. lol

I suppose Canada will air in the summer, and hopefully Australia sometime down the line so there should be year long airings of the show if you're so inclined.

Are the promos really true for this season? Possible first episode spoilers:
Three teams quit the first leg.
I almost can't believe it and CBS likes to mislead with the commercials for their shows..

A new season already? Great! I love this show. The double express pass thing might ensure some nice little drama.

Think about it.
they said three teams quit. They didn't say they quit the race, just that they quit. Meaning they quit a task and take the time penalty ala Boston Rob at the Meatblock. Still bad, but not as sensational as it sounds in the promo

Coool, didn't know GAF did TAR threads. :D

Season 7 will always be my favorite, favorite teams would be Uchenna and Joyce, Jet and Cord, Kent and Vyxsin.

Hopefully this season is awesome ^_^

Ugh, Youtube team

Ouch, team cancer survivng cyclists are wearing livestrong =/

Youtube guy is going to give someone a mental breakdown

haha, just started tonights season 22 premier of amazing race and see that former NHLer Bates Battaglia is a contestant with his brother lol. i guess i have a team to root for this season.

edit: just finished episode. the firefighters should have turned around and did the sand castles after it was clear they wouldn't beat the 2 other teams in the canoe race, but it was probably prohibited anyways. hope youtube team goes soon, fucking annoying.

That definitely did seem like a tough first episode, especially that needle in a haystack roadblock.

I did like how it shaked up the rankings and pretty much made the whole first flight thing pointless.

The twin doctors seem really high-strunged. Especially since it was just the first leg.

Good news is that no one really bugs me yet, but I'm not a fan of anyone yet either.

Bora Bora is fucking gorgeous. While I think the show itself is kind of boring, they went big with the scenery porn at least.

It's going to be boring when they go back to the same old cities again later though. :p

They had already taken the penalty at that point

That's the Amazing Race. It's literally impossible to build up a lead, which is why they design the road blocks to try to shut things down.

I still remember that one team that had like a 20 hour lead in a race from the early days. Too bad they lost it because the stupid roadblock was closed. :p

Last season 2 teams did fall over a day behind for a couple legs

Falling behind is easy, but they've designed it so that people can't just jump and take a lead.
(That said, I love remote eliminations. I still remember that finale where the third place team was just remote eliminated via envelope. lol)

A lot of that is the reality of flying, but if the roadblocks were actually open 24/7 (or at least when they expect the teams to arrive in country), then it'd actually be a more natural race with the stronger teams just getting a natural advantage.

I think I've long since moved on from the whole idea of the show being an actual race. As long as they keep doing awesome things like Bora Bora, I'm happy.

I know, but this was the only time I could remember 2 teams getting so far behind due to missing connecting flights and only being saved by having another team with them, and then a non-elimination leg........and then they won the whole race

Oh, they also survived because another team lost their passports

Remote eliminations still happen, but it's much more rare. The last one I remember had Phil actually come to the team and tell them that they were last, because it was so late.

I just didn't expect it to happen in the first episode. :p
It's one of the things I don't like about the fact that the show is so old now. They've got the production issues down pat, so there really are no surprises any more outside of losing your cash or whatever.

All that Bora Bora scenery.

Next week looks amazing too in New Zealand.

No one really stand out enough for me to comment this week.

Mmmmm Emily

That's a notion I can get behind.
yes! she was very cute. my favorite part was when they were in India and that indian guy pulled a borat "very nice, how much" propositioning emily lol.

as for tonight's episode, the moment i saw the coconut balance challenge i knew team battaglia was gonna win, having the balance on skates and often kick pucks it was gonna be very easy for them. sucks about the guy's achilles. watching that team get out run of the mat was hilarious. still amazes me people so bad at cardio don't get into shape for the show. the two girls getting lost on the jet ski was ridiculous, especially when they were with a pack when they departed.

For a pair of doctors, these twins don't seem too smart. I can't be the only one yelling at the TV when they considered taking a six hour penalty before even taking a look at the other task.

They pick people they know are afraid of water or heights or completely out of shape, makes for great tv lol

Just finished watching last season's TAR. I loved the ending, Twinnies going down and Beekmans get disrespected only to come through and win was cool. I loved seeing a final with a thinking challenge, otherwise it's just a fitness contest and only allows a small category of people to have a chance.

I've started watching a number of the past season but I usually only liked 1 or 2 teams and they would go out early and I'd lose interest. But the season 21 teams were a bit more interesting although the teachers who I thought I'd like a lot were disappointing especially the big guy.

I'll have to catch up with this season now. Just looking at the pictures they look like a pretty good cast although I wouldn't mind a few older people.

All that New Zealand scenery.

Well I guess that wasn't bad of the father/son team to make it through the end, even if it was a double leg, heh. The show's definitely doing some story with them though.

Man, I feel bad for the guys with the dogs having to do the whole roadblock with the teams too.

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
Winning the leg while on crutches was pretty impressive, I gotta say

i really think they are made for each other. katie was so damn annoying, but then you look at max and the way he behaves then you realize they are perfect for each other because he would be saying the exact same thing if the roles were reversed. lol i hope they stay in for a while too, very entertaining. feel bad for team cancer, hope they stay for a little longer, but no way they get that far with that injury. the son can't do all the roadblocks. team hockey is still the team to beat. and team youtube...sigh, i hope they're gone next.

Team youtube and the other young annoying guy/girl team need to go, they both make me cringe every time they open their mouths or smile awkwardly at the camera

Dumbest person ever on TAR.

That girl needs to reevaluate her life and whether it not she should spend her lifetime with that toolbox.

Oh god, John was so incredibly in denial and had his head so far up his ass. LOL. I mean, damn, he was on a different planet or something at the end. Just comparing his goofy face with that of his girlfriend at the end... oh boy.

That guy needs some medical help or something he was so delusional.

Well, that certainly didn't seem like the way to extract the most value out of an express pass. What a trainwreck that was. So happy to see Katie and Max doing well, second to last in the previous leg and now 3rd.

Just caught up with the last episode. That must have been the most stupid thing I've ever seen on that show. Why on earth did they not use their pass once they arrived and saw that there was only one other team left. Well, I couldn't stand the guy in the first place, so no harm done. Feel a bit sorry for her though. Not being delusional will make this hard for her. Don't have a team I'm really rooting for at the moment. Except for team newlyweds I find them all more or less likeable. Well country-girls singing was a bit awkward.
