In short, GamerGate "goal" was to get better ethics and transparency on the games media. Sadly, all was started by a witch hunt on a developer who they claimed was sleeping with a Kotaku journo for better reviews (for a free game, lol). All their intentions went to the shitter when most of his members started harassing women speaking out about this.

They're the exact reason that talking about this stuff is so important: because there are unfortunately plenty of people just like them out there pretty much everywhere, and they ain't going anywhere. That they don't realize that they make her case for her better than she ever possibly could just by herself is stunning.

Just one good lesson to let them know the world is not without consequence. I'm not a big promoter of violence, nor do I believe it's effective, but every time I read a story like this my first gut reaction is just why don't these guys get bullied back?
