I hate it mostly because:
A) It supposedly gets compensated by interesting tech and for the Wii U, it just isn't interesting enough to make up.
B) It gets in the way of game availability i.e. Devs who don't want to port because of weaker hardware (or in relation to A, the control scheme).
Well maybe this is mostly the Wii U. I'm perfectly satisfied with the 3DS but that may just be the nature of that part of the industry (where the 3DS is getting most of the games and it at least does things the PSP could never do despite being extremely weaker than the Vita).
People dismiss point A too early, Nintendo really doesn't go the "low" tech route, they just don't follow the "graphics" route, but the technology is there. The streaming on the WiiU is impressive, motion controls were also new tech. They also are extremely conservative which is why we didn't get state of the art motion, it would have simply been too expensive, for us as consumers and for them.
And that's the thing with gaming, you innovate or you die, Nintendo understand this too well and that's why the always come up with "gimmicks", we can already see the market shrinking again, we as actual enthusiasts would be happy with the same thing for decades, but the market would collapse.
Point B is just excuses at this point, grudges from old times or simply the fact that Nintendo just isn't "cool" seem to be the real reason of lack of support, very few developers even tried to give motion a chance, and the same seems to be happening with the WiiU, no longer the HD excuse will be enough, but surely they will come up with some other.
I see no real "low" tech in Nintendo endeavours, so I can't really be frustrated as a consumer. gaming quality is there, the games look awesome as well.
Who wouldn't love a Zelda with VA?
I don't see at all how it makes or breaks the game, you people must have an aneurysm when watching silent movies I guess.
I wouldn't love it, but I would be willing to tolerate it, VA acting is rarely something that adds to any game anyway.
